Douluo Continent: I can overdraft the future in advance
Chapter 59 Successful Evacuation
Luo Yun clenched his fists and listened intently in the darkness.
The commotion above them grew louder and louder. The Titan Snow Demon's roar was filled with anger, and even a hint of despair.
Who are these people?
He dared not move, dared not go out; he could only squat under the ice, listening to the sounds above him, and mentally guessing the situation.
The roar began to move, growing farther and farther away.
The Titan Snow Demon is running.
Luo Yun's heart pounded even faster. He dared not relax, remaining crouched beneath the ice, listening intently to the sounds outside. The Titan Snow Demon's footsteps grew fainter and fainter, eventually disappearing in some direction.
But Luo Yun did not move.
He waited for a while.
Footsteps began again. Not the heavy, trembling footsteps of the Titan Snow Demon, but lighter, more frequent footsteps—the footsteps of humans.
More than one person.
The footsteps grew closer, heading straight towards the ice mound where he was hiding.
Luo Yun's breath hitched. He didn't know who it was, whether they were friend or foe. Someone capable of driving away the ten-thousand-year-old Titan Snow Demon—in the face of a powerhouse of this level, he, a mere three-ring Soul Master, wouldn't even have a chance to escape.
The footsteps stopped nearby.
Luo Yun closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and activated his second soul ring. Ice thorns grew out of the crack, pushing open the ice layer that was sealing the cave entrance.
He grabbed the edge of the crack with both hands and climbed out.
There were five people standing in front of me.
Four men and one woman.
The leader was a middle-aged man, around forty years old, with a burly build. His aura was calm and restrained, but Luo Yun could feel the oppressive presence—this man was very strong.
Behind him stood three young men, around twenty years old, dressed in matching uniforms; they were likely his attendants or guards.
There was a girl standing at the very back.
She looked to be about the same age as Luo Yun, around eleven or twelve years old. She was slender, wearing a white fur coat, with long hair draped over her shoulders, and delicate features.
Luo Yun withdrew his gaze, quickly straightened his clothes, took a deep breath, stepped forward, and bowed slightly to the middle-aged man who was leading the group.
"Thank you all for saving my life."
His voice was a little hoarse; he had been squatting in the ice cave for two days without speaking much, and his throat was so dry it felt like it was about to burst into flames.
The middle-aged man sized him up, his gaze sweeping over him as if assessing his identity and level of threat. Luo Yun did not flinch, meeting his gaze directly.
"Who are you? What are you doing here?" The middle-aged man's voice was deep and carried an undeniable air of authority.
"My name is Luo Yun, a first-year student in the outer academy of Shrek Academy. I came to the far north for training during my vacation." Luo Yun's tone was calm. "For some reason, I was targeted by a ten-thousand-year-old Titan Snow Demon. My flying soul tool was destroyed, and I could only hide under the ice and wait for it to leave. Thanks to everyone's help, otherwise I'm afraid I wouldn't have been able to hold on for long."
The middle-aged man's expression softened slightly, but his gaze remained scrutinizing. "Shrek Academy? You, a first-year student, dare to come to the far north alone?"
Luo Yun spoke half-truthfully, "My martial soul is of the ice attribute, so coming to the far north for training is the most suitable for me."
The middle-aged man nodded, seemingly accepting the explanation.
"My name is Mo Feiyun." He simply stated his name without introducing anyone else. "We've come to the far north to hunt souls."
Luo Yun's heart skipped a beat when he heard the name.
Mo Feiyun.
He quickly recalled the information he knew from the original work and did indeed have an impression.
So, this girl in front of us, eleven or twelve years old, with a noble air, accompanied by a Soul Saint-level guard, has come to the far north to hunt for ice-attribute plant-type soul rings...
Vina.
Luo Yun was almost certain that she was the princess of the Heavenly Soul Empire.
However, the other party did not introduce himself, clearly not wanting to reveal his identity. He remained expressionless, showing no unusual behavior, as if the name "Mo Feiyun" was just an ordinary name to him.
"Senior Mo, could you please tell me which direction this is? I've been hiding under the ice for two days, and my sense of direction is a bit disoriented."
Mo Feiyun pointed in the direction: "That's south. If you follow this direction, it will take about a day and a half to reach Icewind Town."
Luo Yun glanced in the direction he was pointing at and memorized the direction.
"Thank you for your guidance, Senior Mo."
He nodded slightly to the crowd.
"I will always remember your kindness in saving my life."
Mo Feiyun waved his hand: "It was no trouble at all."
Luo Yun nodded and was about to turn and leave when he paused.
He turned to look at Mo Feiyun and asked casually, "By the way, Senior Mo, what kind of soul beasts are you targeting this time? I've passed through some of these areas these past few days, so I might remember some."
Mo Feiyun glanced at the girl, and the girl nodded slightly.
"Ice attribute, plant type," Mo Feiyun said.
Luo Yun nodded without asking any further questions. He raised his hand and pointed in the direction from which the Titan Snow Demon had chased him: "Go north in that direction for about half a day. There is an ice cliff there, and there are many ice-attribute plant-type soul beasts."
The girl spoke, her voice clear and bright: "Is that place safe?"
"I've passed through there before; there shouldn't be any powerful soul beasts in that area," Luo Yun said.
Mo Feiyun nodded and did not ask any further questions.
Luo Yun cupped his hands in greeting to the crowd, then turned and walked south. His pace was neither fast nor slow, and his figure grew smaller and smaller against the white ice plain.
Vina watched the receding figure in silence for a moment, then turned to look at Mo Feiyun.
"Master Mo, what do you think?"
Mo Feiyun withdrew his gaze and pondered for a moment.
"He's telling the truth. At least most of it." He said with certainty, "The ice cave does exist. His clothes have ice chips on them, so he must have been hiding inside for quite some time."
"And his strength—" Mo Feiyun paused, "I sensed his soul power fluctuations, and it should be around the third ring. Only Shrek Academy has a student who is an eleven or twelve-year-old with a third ring soul master."
Vina nodded, seemingly lost in thought.
"He said there are ice-attribute plant spirit beasts in that direction." She looked north. "Do you think that's believable?"
Mo Feiyun thought for a moment and said, "He has no reason to lie to us."
Vina was silent for a moment, then said softly, "Let's go take a look."
Mo Feiyun nodded and waved to the three young guards behind him.
"Let's go, north."
The five people adjusted their direction and headed in the direction Luo Yun pointed out.
-
the other side.
Luo Yun walked about a kilometer and, after confirming that no one was following him, let out a long sigh of relief.
He slowed his pace, his legs feeling weak. Two days in the ice cave, despite eating dry rations, had inevitably left him somewhat weakened. The recent ordeal had also relieved his mental tension, leaving him feeling completely drained.
"Luck," he said softly, a hint of relief in his voice.
If Vina and her group hadn't happened to pass by, he might have really had to consider forcibly breaking through. In his current state, facing a ten-thousand-year-old Titan Snow Demon, his chances of winning were almost zero. Even with the soul tools given to him by Master Fang, he could at most hold out a little longer, but ultimately he would still be doomed.
He shook his head, banishing those thoughts, and quickened his pace south.
After walking for about half a day, a small town came into view.
Luo Yun stood at the town entrance, looking at the lights and the smoke from the houses, and let out a long sigh: "Finally back!"
He dragged his somewhat heavy legs into the town, found a hotel, and went inside.
"Checking in at a hotel."
