Douluo Continent: I can overdraft the future in advance

Chapter 2 Actually, I'm a Little Genius

In the latter half of the night, Luo Yun still couldn't fall asleep.

The insomnia of the first half of the night was a blur of confusion, panic, and uncertainty about my future. This time was different—this time it was excitement, anticipation, and the ecstasy of possibly taking control of my destiny.

He really had a system.

Luo Yun lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling, unable to suppress the smile on his lips.

"Overdrawing a year's worth of future resources... and I've gone straight from level three to level five?" He clenched his fist, feeling the power flowing through his body. "If I wait another three months, and overdraw another year, will I be able to level up two more times?"

The more I think about it, the more excited I get.

He simply sat up, cross-legged on the bed, closed his eyes, and carefully felt his body.

When he awakened during the day, he was merely passively subjected to the Martial Soul test and didn't have time to carefully experience what soul power felt like. Now it's different—the soul power within his body has genuinely increased by two levels, and he can clearly sense the existence of that power.

It flows slowly within the body, circulating repeatedly along a specific path.

"This is soul power?" Luo Yun muttered to himself. "What about the martial soul? Where is the martial soul?"

He tried to summon his martial spirit.

With a thought, a strange feeling rose from within my body.

Suddenly, a chill ran through his arms, and a pale blue light appeared. His hands began to resemble a bird, and his eyes felt icy cold.

Luo Yun stared wide-eyed at his hands; sparse, pale blue feathers extended from his wrists down to his upper arms.

"Is this what spirit possession is?"

Luo Yun withdrew his martial spirit, and the ice sparrow vanished into specks of light. He lay back down, gazing at the moonlight outside the window, feeling a sense of peace he had never felt before.

Level 5 Soul Power.

There is a system.

It seems like this is something I can really look forward to in this lifetime.

The next morning, just as dawn was breaking, Luo Yun was woken up by his father.

"Yun'er, get up." Luo Xing stood by the bed, a rare look of seriousness on his face. "Starting today, Father will teach you cultivation."

Luo Yun rubbed his eyes and sat up, somewhat surprised.

In the original owner's memories, although his father, Luo Xing, was a soul tool merchant and a great soul master, he was always busy with business and rarely concerned himself with his affairs. Unexpectedly, on the second day after his martial soul awakened, his father wanted to personally teach him cultivation.

He obediently put on his clothes and followed his father into the yard.

The morning air was still damp. Beside the stone table in the courtyard, Mother Lin had already set out breakfast—three bowls of animal milk, several steamed buns, and a small dish of side dishes.

"Let's eat first," Luo Xing said.

The family of three finished their breakfast in silence. Mrs. Lin cleared away the dishes, brought over a pot of hot tea, and then quietly stepped aside, watching the father and son.

Luo Xing took a sip of tea and then spoke.

"Yoona, I know you might think that I'm just a businessman, what can I teach you?" His voice was deep. "But I am still a Great Soul Master, even if I'm only at the second ring. I still understand the basics."

Luo Yun nodded without saying anything.

"Your mother cried all night last night." Luo Xing glanced at his wife, his tone tinged with heartache. "She felt that she lacked soul power, which was a burden to you and caused you to only reach level three."

"But Father doesn't think so." Luo Xing looked at Luo Yun seriously. "So what if you're at level three? Level three is still soul power. Father was only at level two back then, but I still managed to become a Great Soul Master. If you're willing to work hard, you might not be any worse than Father in the future."

He took a thin booklet out of his pocket and handed it to Luo Yun.

"This is a basic meditation method commonly used in mainland China. Although it is the most basic technique, it is safe and not easy to go astray. Take a look at it yourself first, and ask me if you don't understand anything."

Luo Yun took the booklet and flipped through it. It contained handwritten text in neat calligraphy, accompanied by simple diagrams of the human body's meridians.

"Starting today, meditate for an hour every morning after you get up." Luo Xing stood up. "Try meditating today, and I'll guide you when I get back."

---

Luo Yun spent the entire morning studying the book "Basic Meditation Methods".

While it's called meditation, the principle is actually quite simple—through a specific breathing rhythm and guided intention, soul power circulates within the body along a fixed route. With each cycle, soul power increases slightly. Over time, this quantitative change leads to a qualitative change, allowing one to break through levels.

Following the instructions in the booklet, Luo Yun sat cross-legged in the courtyard, closed his eyes, and adjusted his breathing.

The first attempt failed.

The soul power was completely out of control, flowing haphazardly and unable to form a cycle.

I tried more than ten times, but all of them failed.

Luo Yun opened his eyes and frowned.

"That's not right. I can clearly sense soul power, so why can't I control it?"

He thought about it and decided to try a different approach.

Since active control didn't work, he tried passive guidance. He closed his eyes, no longer deliberately "commanding" his soul power, but instead imagined a fixed path within his body, and waited for the soul power to flow in on its own.

Surprisingly, it actually worked.

The soul power seemed to be drawn by something, slowly flowing into the imagined path and beginning to circulate.

One lap, two laps, three laps...

With each cycle, the soul power must grow stronger.

After an unknown amount of time, Luo Yun opened his eyes.

The sun was already high in the sky; it was almost noon.

He stood up, stretched his slightly numb legs, and smiled.

"It's done."

Although it's just the most basic meditation, successfully getting started means he has truly embarked on the path of cultivation.

---

Luo Xing came back for lunch at noon.

The father and son finished their meal in silence as usual. Just as Luo Xing was about to get up and return to the shop, Luo Yun called him back.

"Dad, there's something I want to tell you."

Luo Xing stopped and turned to look at him: "What is it?"

Luo Yun hesitated for a moment, but decided to tell the truth anyway.

"I don't think I'm... Level 3."

Luo Xing was stunned.

"What do you mean?"

"Well..." Luo Yun carefully chose his words, "I feel that my soul power is much stronger than when I awakened yesterday. Last night I tried the Martial Soul Possession, and the feeling was particularly clear; it seemed like my soul power was significantly more than when I awakened."

Luo Xing frowned, stared at Luo Yun for a while, then suddenly stepped forward and grabbed Luo Yun's wrist.

Luo Yun felt a faint power probing into his body. It was Luo Xing's soul power—the power of a Great Soul Master. Although it wasn't strong, it was more than enough to probe the soul power level of a six-year-old child.

A moment later, Luo Xing's expression changed.

From initial doubt to surprise, and then to disbelief.

He released his grip, took two steps back, and stared wide-eyed.

"Level five... The strength of your soul power is level five!"

Luo Xing's voice was trembling.

"Level five?" Lin, standing nearby, was also stunned. "Didn't that person say it was level three when we awakened yesterday?"

"Yes, it's level three..." Luo Xing paced back and forth, muttering to himself, "But what I'm sensing now is definitely level five, no mistake, no mistake..."

He suddenly stopped and looked at Luo Yun.

"Yoona, tell your father the truth, did you secretly cultivate before?"

Luo Yun shook his head: "No, before I awakened yesterday, I didn't even know what soul power was."

"Then..." Luo Xing frowned, then suddenly slapped his thigh, "Could it be that the awakening test was wrong?"

Lin asked cautiously, "Really? That's a place specifically for awakening martial spirits..."

"Why not?" Luo Xing found it increasingly plausible. "Yoona's martial soul is the Ice Sparrow, which should have mutated from my martial soul. There might have been a misjudgment during the testing, making it level three instead of level five!"

He became more and more agitated as he spoke, and an unnatural blush rose to his face.

"Level five! Level five innate soul power!" He grabbed Luo Yun's shoulder with such force that Luo Yun frowned. "Yun'er, do you know what this means?"

"Level three is just considered ordinary; even with a lifetime of training, you might get lucky and break through to Soul Master," Luo Xing said. "But level five is different! With proper training, a level five Soul King is within reach, and even a Soul Emperor isn't impossible!"

He paced back and forth in the yard, muttering to himself.

"Soul King... Soul Emperor... those are figures capable of founding their own sects! In our Wuyun City, they'd be top-tier figures! Even the City Lord would have to show them respect!"

Lin was so excited that her eyes reddened, and she held Luo Yun's hand, unable to speak.

"Father, Mother, please don't get too excited," Luo Yun advised. "Even if I'm at level five, I still have to cultivate step by step. It's impossible to become an expert all at once."

"Yes, yes, you're right." Luo Xing nodded repeatedly, took a few deep breaths to calm himself down, "Father was too excited. Cultivation can't be rushed, it has to be done slowly."

He sat down again, looking at Luo Yun with eyes full of relief and anticipation.

"Yun'er, let me tell you something from the bottom of my heart today." His voice was deep and solemn. "I've been a businessman all my life. I have a little money, but in the eyes of a true Soul Master, it's nothing. Those Soul Kings and Soul Emperors are treated like royalty wherever they go. When I see them, I don't even dare to speak loudly."

"But you're different. You're level five; you have that potential."

"From today onwards, your father will do everything in his power to support your cultivation. The income from the shop, which was previously saved for your wedding and as a family fortune, will now all be used for your cultivation. Soul tools, pills, soul rings... anything useful to you, your father will sell everything he owns to get it for you!"

Luo Yun opened his mouth as if to say something, but Luo Xing stopped him by raising his hand.

"Don't stop your father. This is his wish." His eyes were a little red. "My biggest regret in this life is not being able to become a true strongman. You have this talent, which is equivalent to fulfilling my dream. If you can become a Soul King or Soul Emperor, I will be willing to give up everything I own."

Looking at his father's excited face, Luo Yun felt a surge of emotion he had never felt before: in his past life, his parents were just like that too.

An ordinary working-class man, with no great skills, yet he did everything he could to support his education and help him save money to buy a house. Before he could repay her, that truck took his life.

In this life, God gave him a second chance and gave him such parents.

"Father," Luo Yun said, his voice a little hoarse, "Don't worry, I will definitely become strong."
