Supercritical carbon dioxide cycle power generation technology, abbreviated as supercarbon (S-CO₂).

In the past, no matter how advanced thermal power generation technology was, it was always ridiculed as "just another way to boil water".

But supercarbon is different; it doesn't boil water, it burns carbon dioxide!

Carbon dioxide (CO₂) is stable, non-toxic, and readily available.

It is simply the most ideal working fluid on Earth.

This thing can enter the supercritical state under mild conditions with a temperature greater than 31.1℃ and a pressure greater than 7.4MPa.

In this supercritical state, the supercritical substance has a fluidity close to that of a gas and a density close to that of a liquid.

It is basically the preferred working fluid for all thermal power generation.

31.1℃, a temperature much lower than human body temperature!

This means that almost all industrial waste heat, and even the waste heat from electronic devices in data centers, can be used to generate electricity by centrally processing the waste heat!

For water (H₂O) to reach a supercritical state, the temperature needs to be close to 400℃ and the pressure needs to be 22MPa!

Carbon dioxide is chemically inert, has little corrosive effect on equipment, is present in the air as a raw material, has low purification costs, and can be recycled in a closed system.

When combined with clean heat sources, it produces almost no new carbon emissions.

However, it's not without its drawbacks; carbon dioxide has poor heat exchange capacity, only about one-third that of water.

"I didn't expect Professor Huang to have started the preliminary research so early?" Li Ran felt admiration.

Noticing that Zhang Chengyuan was pursing his lips, Li Ran knew that he was nervous.

Li Ran handed him the water and spoke:

"You're a B-level talent, relax and have confidence in yourself."

This technology is feasible, but there is a challenge.

The question is how to rapidly cool down supercritical carbon dioxide around 31°C so that it can be reused.

After all, the smaller the temperature difference, the lower the heat exchange efficiency.

"I'd like to try it with Professor Huang."

"Great! With your 'spark of inspiration,' the progress should be very fast."

Fortunately, the company had a lot of money in its accounts.

"Hmm... is 200 million enough for the initial payment?"

That's enough.

The next day, Zhang Chengyuan took the funds and his team to the Qilian Mountains again.

"Gao Jingming, aren't you coming along?" Li Ran asked curiously.

"President Li, Supervisor Zhang Chengyuan and Captain Cai Heng have both left. If I, the deputy captain, also leave, you'll be all alone again." Gao Jingming winked at Li Ran while fixing his hair. "Besides, my research area is electrochemistry, so I can't be of any help. I'd rather stay in my hometown."

Li Ran nodded; Gao Jingming's words made sense.

Before his business trip last year, Gao Jingming and the other seven team leaders and deputy team leaders were equipped with C-level talent jade.

Four B-level talents and eight C-level talents, totaling twelve people, a small but not insignificant group of geniuses.

In addition, there were more than 30 researchers accompanying them.

That means I've made a good impression on the leadership and cleared my name.

If these people come up with something good later, at least they'll have an excuse to justify it.

At least it won't be so abrupt.

During this period, without them, there were only a handful of research staff left in the factory.

They are good at maintaining the status quo, but lack ambition.

To put it another way, the remaining researchers, lacking a leader, can only test the products submitted by the fishing expert Hongyi's factory.

Zhao Shuhang made two requests last year: one was to simulate the roar of an engine, and the other was to add driving modes. Now, they have only produced a half-finished product, and there is still much to be tested.

Now that Gao Jingming has decided to stay home, research and development may still progress slowly, but maintaining stability should not be a major problem.

However, since I've decided to defend the base, I should at least be a B-rank.

Relying on a C-level unit, and only one of them, is probably not enough to control the situation.

Li Ran allocated the last B-grade talent spirit jade in the system's inventory to him.

Do you know about aromatic amines? I have a very simple synthetic approach. —Gao Jingming

"..."

Li Ran looked at Gao Jingming grinning, revealing his teeth, and didn't know what to say. He took a deep breath:

"I'll give you three days to go and take a look around the factory."

Before Wang Bing and the others return, you are in charge of things at the factory.

We've received a lot of resumes recently for spring recruitment; please select some suitable ones to supplement our staff.

"There aren't many leftover kids in the R&D department anymore, so you should integrate them all."

"Wow! Mr. Li is so generous! You're letting me cultivate my own loyal followers." Gao Jingming grabbed Li Ran's right hand and shook it.

Indeed, my decision to stay was the right one.

Not only did he manage to acquire the B-level talent Lingyu, but he's also about to have his own elite troops.

The next time they meet, Captain Cai Heng will have to call me Supervisor Gao!

Gao Jingming clapped his hands and laughed inwardly.

"Don't worry, Mr. Li, I guarantee I'll make the factory look beautiful!"

Regarding research and development, I will continue following Wang Bing's ideas and try my hand at photovoltaic engineering.

"Photovoltaic project?"

"Yes, charging stations will definitely be rolled out across the country in the future."

If there are too many of these things, they will inevitably impact the stability of the power grid.

When charging stations are built, solar power can be used to assist in power generation, and recycled power batteries can be used for distributed energy storage…

Upon hearing Gao Jingming's description, Li Ran remembered.

In later generations, with the rapid rollout of megawatt flash charging technology, one of the main reasons why charging stations did not impact the power grid was this distributed energy storage station.

After all, China's total installed power generation capacity in 2024 was only 33.5 billion kilowatts.

If ordinary charging piles are replaced with megawatt flash charging, the power grid will be under pressure of 48 billion kilowatts.

Those who have played games like Project Dyson Sphere should have encountered similar scenarios.

If this situation occurs in the game, a global blackout will occur.

Independent power supply from the grid is an important safety net.

If these charging stations with energy storage cabinets were to be deployed throughout China...

This type of energy storage cabinet doesn't need to be very large; 380 kWh is enough.

As for the quantity, let's keep it simple and keep it the same as public toilets.

Therefore, the material basis for city uninterruptible power supply (UPS) products is established.

What natural or man-made disaster caused the entire area to be plunged into a power outage?

These power storage cabinets can form isolated power islands, thereby protecting people's livelihoods and buying time for rescue operations.

If such power islands have solar panels as an energy supplement, their disaster resistance will be greatly enhanced.

Once drone technology matures, the drone cockpit can be installed on charging stations...

It seems like laser weapons can be installed too?

Li Ran touched his chin:

"Wang Bing's idea is great! What do you think about replacing the sunroof in a car with a solar panel? Would that be a good idea?"

What about the hood and trunk lid?

"Mr. Li, it would be a huge loss for our factory if you didn't become a product manager!" Gao Jingming slammed his right fist into his left palm. "How could this design not be promising? It's absolutely brilliant! The trunk lid can be replaced, but the front hood needs to protect pedestrians, so it's usually too soft. Let's just forget about it."

Gao Jingming paced back and forth, becoming more and more excited as he thought about it, and decided to modify a car to see the effect.
