Is Chapter 51 like this?

In the haunted house and terrifying hospital themed dungeons.

Xu Minglang, Feng Yue, Sun Yifan, and Lin Xiaoxiao, four students from Hongshan High School, took advantage of their college entrance examination break to travel together.

They were all ordinary high school students without any special cultivation abilities, so they were especially frightened in the terrifying haunted house with its intense atmosphere. The four of them huddled together tightly and slowly groped their way forward in the dim space.

Despite their fear, they successfully cleared one of the horror dungeons and have now entered the second dungeon.

The moment they stepped into the dungeon room, the door they had come from slammed shut and locked itself tightly.

"Huh? What's going on?"

Xu Minglang was a bespectacled boy with a black smartwatch on his left wrist. He stepped forward and pushed the door, but it wouldn't budge.

"Sister Yue, why don't you give it a try?" He turned around and called to Feng Yue.

Feng Yue was a sports student, over 1.7 meters tall, with a slender and agile figure. Her physical strength and fighting ability were stronger than many boys. She walked to the door and pushed it hard, but it didn't budge. She mustered all her strength and rammed it a few more times, but the door didn't even shake.

"It's really hard, I can't bump into it." Feng Yue shook her head.

"Closing the door is equivalent to cutting off the escape route. It's probably meant to create a sense of oppression in the enclosed space and evoke fear in the players. Many escape rooms use this design... This theme might be very scary," Xu Minglang analyzed.

"Don't be afraid, Xiaoxiao, I will protect you."

Taking the opportunity, Sun Yifan pulled Lin Xiaoxiao into his arms and whispered words of comfort; they were a couple.

"Let's get out of here as soon as we finish this level, I'm scared," Lin Xiaoxiao said nervously, nestled against his chest.

"Okay, let's leave after we finish this level." Sun Yifan was actually quite scared, but he had to act like a man in front of his girlfriend.

The four of them immediately began to examine the space in front of them.

This is an abandoned doctor's office. The pale white light bulbs flicker and buzz with electricity, and the air is filled with the strong smell of disinfectant.

Opposite the sink was a desk, next to which was a bookshelf with various medical books. Several X-ray images of bones from different parts of the body were pasted on the wall, and a pile of books and documents were scattered haphazardly on the desk.

There was a door directly opposite the entrance. Xu Minglang went up to take a look and found a keyhole on the door.

"There's a keyhole on the door."

Xu Minglang adjusted his glasses, turned to the group and said, "Everyone, split up and search. There should be a key in this room."

The four of them began searching the room.

Xu Minglang immediately noticed an open diary on the desk. After reading it briefly, he called the other three over and read the diary's contents aloud:

"July 2nd, overcast. The four newest bodies that were brought in seem a bit strange. They were all covered with white sheets, but the next morning, the sheets were all pulled off. I asked my other colleagues, and they all said they hadn't been touched. I checked the surveillance footage, and the footage from the second half of the night was just static."

"July 3rd, rain. I reported this to the director, but he thought it was a prank by some colleague and didn't take it seriously. But when I returned to the morgue, the four bodies had disappeared. I was terrified and quickly called for help, but when we arrived, the four bodies were back, lying there quietly."

"July 4th, rain. The supervisor thinks I'm under too much mental stress and is going to give me a few days off. Tonight is my last night shift. Hmm? Why is there movement in the morgue...?"

This concludes my diary entry.

"Hmm...it looks like one of those classic dead-to-be-resurrected tropes," Xu Minglang said.

Similar plot devices have appeared in countless horror novels and movies.

"I have a feeling that the next room is likely to be the morgue," Feng Yue analyzed based on her intuition.

"The morgue...it's so scary!" Lin Xiaoxiao snuggled closer to her boyfriend.

Xu Minglang flipped through the diary and found that the back half of the diary had been hollowed out, leaving a square groove in which a metal key lay.

"We found the key!"

He took out his key, quickly walked to the door, inserted it, and turned it, unlocking the door with a click.

Pushing open the creaking door, the four of them crowded in the doorway and peered inside.

The room was dimly lit and contained four rusty iron beds, each with a "corpse" covered by a white sheet.

The surrounding shelves were filled with glass jars, in which various human organs were soaking in a pale green liquid: heart, liver, eyeballs, intestines...

At the end of the room was a dark corridor that led nowhere.

"See, I told you so, it really is a morgue."

Feng Yue was the first to enter the morgue. She looked around and then strode to the bed of one of the corpses, grabbed the white sheet, and lifted it.

She originally intended to prove her courage with this action, but the moment she lifted the white cloth, a bone-chilling cold shot straight up her spine to the top of her head!

The face under the white cloth was deathly pale, devoid of any color, yet its features were so familiar they sent chills down her spine—it was none other than Feng Yue's own face!

Holy crap!

Feng Yue screamed and stumbled backward, almost tripping over herself, but was caught by Xu Minglang behind her.

Upon seeing the corpse's face, Xu Minglang and the other two all exclaimed in unison, "Holy crap!"

"What happened?" Lin Xiaoxiao was trembling all over. How could Feng Yue have turned into a corpse?

"Let's look at some other beds."

Xu Minglang appeared very calm. He walked to the second bed, lifted the white sheet, and revealed Sun Yifan's face underneath.

He then lifted the third and fourth sheets, revealing his own face and Lin Xiaoxiao's face respectively.

The four of them lay neatly and quietly on the bed, their faces pale, like corpses that had been dead for a long time.

Seeing this scene, the hairs on their bodies stood on end; it was completely beyond their psychological preparation.

"Hiss..." Sun Yifan gasped, instinctively pulling his girlfriend even tighter.

"Do you remember the agreement we signed before entering the haunted house? Besides the disclaimer, it seemed to also include something about the right to use someone's image."

Compared to the other three's terror, Xu Minglang was much calmer. He adjusted his glasses and calmly explained, "This is probably some kind of mimicry robot. First, they scan our body data through a hidden device, then send it to the robot, allowing it to mimic our appearance."

It has to be said that this idea is excellent. Combined with the story's background, it creates the illusion that the four of us are actually dead, but we don't know we're dead, so every night we crawl out of the morgue and act like living people... just like this now.

"That makes sense. Impressive, Minglang, your mind works so fast!" Feng Yue thought about it carefully and felt that Xu Minglang's analysis made a lot of sense. She couldn't help but admire him and patted him on the shoulder.

Xu Minglang smiled modestly.

Actually... he had secretly read the strategy guide and knew a lot about the dungeons. He had even carefully planned his arrival in this dungeon, all so that he could take this opportunity to show off to his crush, Feng Yue.

"Hmm... After entering the morgue, the dead will come back to life and hunt down the players. I need to run with Feng Yue so we can create shared memories," Xu Minglang thought to himself.

Sure enough, after a while, the four corpses suddenly let out a shrill scream and slowly sat up from the bed. The red lights in the morgue flickered wildly, and terrifying music played.

The next second, four corpses bearing the appearances of Xu Minglang and his three companions jumped off the bed and staggered toward them.

The four of them screamed as they ran into the dark corridor.

The corridor led to the stairs and another room. It was dimly lit, so dark you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. You could only see the blurry outlines of the people around you. With the corpses chasing after them, the four of them got separated as they ran.

Xu Minglang followed the figure in front of him into a room. Screams could be heard intermittently in the distance, seemingly from Sun Yifan and Lin Xiaoxiao. They seemed to be running up the stairs.

"Then the person in front of me must be Feng Yue..." Xu Minglang was overjoyed and quickened his pace.

Da da da da...

The corpse's footsteps relentlessly pursued him, and he dared not relax, keeping close to the figure in front of him, afraid of being left behind and missing the perfect opportunity to be alone.

The two walked one after the other through several rooms. The dim light made it impossible for Xu Minglang to see the specific structure of the rooms, but they all seemed to belong to the hospital instance.

I don't know how long I ran before the footsteps behind me finally disappeared, and the eerie background music gradually faded away.

Xu Minglang, supporting himself on his knees, gasped for breath. The figure in front of him also stopped, standing motionless in the darkness with his back to him.

Just then, several mournful screams could be faintly heard from upstairs, seemingly from Sun Yifan and Lin Xiaoxiao.

The sound lasted for four or five seconds, then stopped abruptly.

Xu Minglang's expression changed slightly, because the scream sounded like a heart-wrenching scream on the verge of collapse, not like the scream of someone who was frightened, but more like the despair of someone facing death.

"Feng Yue, it seems something's happened up there. Shall we go up and take a look?" Xu Minglang asked.

The figure in front of him slowly turned around and emerged from the darkness. With the help of the dim light from the room's lamps, Xu Minglang was able to see the other person's appearance and couldn't help but freeze.

This was a woman he didn't know at all!

The woman's face was stiff, her eyes staring straight at Xu Minglang, devoid of any life. Although her skin had the complexion of a living person, she gave the impression of being more like a corpse!

"You are not Feng Yue!"

Xu Minglang was terrified and instinctively stepped back. How could this be!

Only the four of them are playing this instance. Sun Yifan and Lin Xiaoxiao have clearly gone upstairs, so the only people left should be him and Feng Yue!

But the person he was following in the darkness was not Feng Yue.

There's suddenly someone else... Where did she come from?

Could it be a mimicry robot deliberately lurking in the darkness to create a fright? But the haunted house guide didn't mention this!

Xu Minglang's mind was in complete chaos, and what happened next caused his brain to shut down completely.

The woman's head split open without warning, curling outwards like flower petals into six distinct segments, each covered with a dense array of sharp teeth.

"Ah!" Xu Minglang let out a scream he had never heard before in his life, and turned to run away.

This is definitely not something you'd find in a haunted house!

He ran frantically, pulling out his communicator from his pocket and yelling, "I'm done playing! Let me out! Do you hear me? Let me out! Help! There's a monster!"

The communicator did not respond.

Xu Minglang shouted a few more times, then heard a series of hurried footsteps behind him. He dared not be distracted any longer and ran for his life, fleeing desperately into the endless darkness.

After running for an unknown amount of time, a figure appeared in the corridor ahead, looking back – it was Feng Yue.

"Minglang, what's wrong?" Feng Yue asked, looking puzzled.

"Feng Yue?" Without saying a word, Xu Minglang grabbed Feng Yue's hand and tried to escape with her.

"What are you doing?" Feng Yue struggled to break free from Xu Minglang's grasp.

"There's a monster! There's a monster in this haunted house! Its head splits open like a flower, and it's full of teeth..." Xu Minglang described incoherently.

Feng Yue tilted her head, revealing a smile. Then, her skull cracked open, emitting a dull thud.

"Is this it?"

In an instant, fear overwhelmed Xu Minglang like a tidal wave.

Then he let out a scream that was exactly the same as the screams he had heard before, just as sharp and desperate.

Similarly, it came to an abrupt end.

……

Outside the haunted house, the electronic screen recording the number of people shows the changing numbers.

The number of people decreased from 24 to 10.

Fourteen tourists finished their visit and left the haunted house.

This includes Xu Minglang and three others.

They walked out of the haunted house chatting and laughing, showing no signs of anything strange, and headed towards the amusement park exit, disappearing into the vast crowd.

With the addition of more people, the number of people in the haunted house became 24 again.

……

On the other side, inside the haunted house.

In a dimly lit corridor, the walls are covered with a dense collection of oil paintings, totaling over a hundred in size, mostly portraits.

The dim light flickered on and off, and with each flicker, the expressions of the figures in the paintings changed, from smiling to sneering, from closed eyes to open eyes, from stillness to slow movement. Some figures in the paintings would even disappear and then reappear in the paintings next door.

Zhou Ran walked up to a painting, reached out and touched it, and his palm passed right through the painting. Without a doubt, the painting was a holographic projection.

After some searching, he touched a cold metal object. He took it out and saw that it was a token for passing through customs, a round ball.

"This level is too easy. You just need to deduce the painting that the clues point to." Zhou Ran casually tossed the ball, his tone calm.

"You're amazing! No wonder you're an expert on the supernatural!" Ming Shu's tone was full of admiration.

"Great job, Zhou Ran. It's all thanks to you. We really couldn't have gotten through this without you," Song Ci praised.

The two of them had been praising Zhou Ran almost nonstop the whole way, nearly making him swoon.

Zhou Ran's lips curled up slightly as he walked to the door, slipped the token inside, and the door opened immediately.

After passing through the corridor to the next level, the lights suddenly became bright, so bright that people couldn't help but squint. Before them was a mirrored world, with the floor, walls, and ceiling all made of mirrors.

Under the bright light, Zhou Ran saw the Song porcelain and Ming sparse objects clearly for the first time since entering the haunted house.

His gaze lingered for a few more seconds without him noticing.

Then, his expression changed drastically.
