America? No, it's the warp!

Chapter 42 Underground Passage

The bullets didn't end up in Logan's hands; instead, the magazine in the explosive pistol was replaced.

He removed the magazine, revealing a translucent, shimmering blue crystal, its tip as fine as spider silk, gleaming with a cold, eerie light in the darkness of the tent.

This is a solid sedative crystal. It will dissolve upon impact, leaving no residue, and everything will enter the target's body.

Logan put away his explosive pistol and took out his phone to make a call.

"Lanny, it's me. I'll be going to catch the guy in the sewers after midnight tonight. Have your men get ready."

"Roger that! I'll have him wait for you in the sewers!"

He hung up the phone and glanced at the time.

2:57

It's still early, why not take a nap?

Half an hour later, he woke up on time and reminded his two underlings that something definitely needed to happen that night.

When they arrived at the Emerald Leaf boutique, they didn't see George at the entrance. They went into the lounge and found him sitting in a chair.

He looked uneasy.

Upon seeing Logan arrive, he quickly stood up and greeted him:

"Good afternoon... Logan..."

Good afternoon, George!

Logan gave a brief greeting and said nothing more, as if nothing had happened at this time yesterday.

And so it fell silent.

George finally couldn't hold back and broke the silence:

"I was indeed in the alley that night."

"I told them to go out first to distract you, and then I came out to be the hero and save the day."

Logan glared at him, no longer pretending nothing had happened.

"So, you just ordered someone to hit me on the back with a stick, and then left Claire traumatized?"

"I think that's more than enough to send you to jail."

The voice wasn't loud, and the tone was calm, but it was enough to make George panic.

"No, please don't do this. I'll do anything as long as you don't call the police. I still have..."

"Alright, enough with the chit-chat!"

Logan interrupted George.

"If begging worked, this wouldn't be America."

"What goes around comes around. You should have thought about the consequences of your actions."

"but……"

He then changed the subject.

"I'm in a good mood today. Consider this something you owe me, and I'll make you pay it back later."

"Okay, okay."

George relaxed; as long as he wasn't sent to jail, everything was acceptable.

"Alright, you can go home now."

Logan quickly changed into his work clothes and left the break room one after the other with George.

George walked quickly, avoiding eye contact with anyone, and even seemed to avoid looking at Claire.

This woman was already an untouchable taboo in his heart.

Good afternoon, Claire!

"Good afternoon, Logan. You seem to be having a great day. Can you tell me why?"

Logan leaned on the counter with one hand and pulled out his various documents from his pocket.

"I got all my documents back and even got a replacement veteran's ID card."

Claire's eyes lit up; she was genuinely happy for her friend.

"Then you'll be a person of status from now on!"

She gives off a completely different vibe from Lucy.

Lucy was fiery at first, but once you got close to her, she became as clingy as a kitten.

Claire, on the other hand, is like a girl next door, and she does many things that don't fit this image, and she does them very awkwardly.

She won't be as radical as Lucy at first, but what happens next is uncertain.

Some people become very relaxed once you get to know them.

There was nothing to worry about during the 8-hour workday; with Stephen and Lanny protecting them, no one dared to cause trouble.

The easiest way to earn $200.

After dropping Claire off at home, Logan rushed back to Falls Park, where George and Sean were already waiting.

"We changed into a set of tattered and dirty clothes, and we were going to a homeless community in the sewers."

When the three met again, they were all wearing their most tattered clothes.

Jonah was wearing several hoodies, in various sizes and styles.

Sean was wearing a coat with many patches, which must have been a second-hand item he got from somewhere.

Logan was wearing Kieran's overcoat, his most worn-out garment.

"Who among you knows how to use a gun?"

"I can!"

Jonah raised his hand. "I used to be involved in street gangs."

Logan nodded and handed the ordinary pistol and bullets to Jonah.

"Take this, and protect yourself and Sean."

"And what about you, boss?"

"I'm even better."

Logan summoned a bomb pistol from his waist and showed it to the two men.

Jonah took the pistol and skillfully loaded it with bullets.

"Let's go, get in the car, I'll explain the details in the car."

"The place we're going to is an underground passage north of Pioneer Square."

"Although it's not the kind of drainage sewer, it's still connected to sewage."

In the car, Logan explained the situation, and Sean chimed in:

"I know this. The current Pioneer Square is built on top of the old buildings. The fire in 1889 destroyed a lot of the area, so the buildings in Pioneer Square are now built with red bricks."

"Yes, Sean is right. That's why there are still a lot of underground passages left. Many places have been turned into tourist attractions, and the remaining corners have become gathering places for homeless people. The place we're going to is one of them."

Logan continued his explanation,

"There won't be any close-range conflicts in this operation. The Blood Gang has already investigated the situation. That cripple has no other companions around him. We just need to knock him out and take him away."

"Remember, what you two need to do is help me evacuate the other homeless people inside. I'll handle catching him."

"clear!"

The entrance to the underground passage is near the beer hall where we had lunch.

Logan parked the car in a spot that was close enough but also somewhat hidden, making it easier to move the vehicle later.

The night view north of Pioneer Square is no less beautiful than that of Waterfall Park. After getting off the bus, the three of them consciously wrapped themselves up tightly and walked forward in an orderly manner along the wall.

They smeared dirt on their hair and cheeks beforehand to make themselves look like real homeless people.

There were no homeless people on the streets; the low temperature had driven them all into the underpasses.

Before long, they arrived at the entrance of a narrow alley, only wide enough for two people to walk side by side.

The entrance is in the middle of the alley; it's an iron gate that's only half a person tall, and inside is a downward-facing iron ladder.

Stepping onto the creaking ladder, the three of them stood one by one in the main corridor of the underground passage.

There was almost no light here; it was pitch black, and the air was filled with the smells of wood, mold, salt, and rust.

Logan took out his phone and tossed a lighter to each of his two underlings.

"Snap!"

The three of them became the only light in the underground passage.

At that moment, a figure suddenly appeared from the side.

"Hey bro, can I borrow a light?"

Logan gestured to Jonah to light the fire for him.

After lighting it, the man took a deep drag.

"Hmm~ the cigarettes from the Jade Leaf specialty store are still the best to smoke~"

Logan raised an eyebrow and replied immediately:

"Blood Gang's goods are always the best."
