America? No, it's the warp!

Chapter 15 is tough!

Does the Blood God's power also include defense?

Logan held his breath for several seconds before the strengthening process ended.

"I'm already starting to look forward to the day when I can take bullets with my own body."

It's almost nine o'clock now, and the number of customers in the store is gradually decreasing, allowing for a pleasant break from work. The manager ordered pizza delivery for tonight's lunch. It was a large portion, and Logan ate as much as he wanted, even leaving two whole pizzas behind.

After working for another three hours, it was closing time. Henry called out to Logan, who was about to leave, handed him the two intact pizzas, and said:

"These pizzas are untouched; take them home for tomorrow's breakfast. Also, your criminal record is being checked; you should be released in a few days."

"Okay, thank you, manager."

Logan took the pizza without feeling embarrassed; he had received free food dozens of times since he transmigrated.

"Logan, I'm still a little curious about you. What did you do before you became a homeless person?" Henry's eyes widened, his beard brimming with curiosity.

"We'll have to tell them their identity and other information sooner or later."

Logan pulled up a chair and sat down. Seeing this, Henry quickly sat down in another chair as well, ready to listen.

"When I was 17, I failed the college entrance exam, so I chose to join the army to serve my country."

"Three years after joining the army, I developed some mental illnesses in an accident, which led to my early and permanent discharge from the military. I am now cured of these mental illnesses."

"Then I stayed at home for a year, during which time I didn't receive a single penny of the government's retirement subsidy."

"Later I became a homeless person, and I've been homeless for a year now."

"In short, fucking America."

Henry listened with great interest, nodding repeatedly. Finally, he murmured, "That's classic. It's similar to many veterans I know, but their discharge pay isn't zero. They only receive about 30%, with the remaining 70% being swallowed up during the distribution process."

As he spoke, he stood up and patted Logan on the shoulder. "Sigh, you're still too pitiful. Work hard for me. I don't expect you to become rich and powerful, but at least you won't be a homeless person anymore."

He then pulled out a stack of ten pre-counted $20 bills, stuffed them into Logan's hand, shook his head, sighed, and returned to his office.

Logan kept stroking the huge sum of 200 yuan in his hand, pondering how to spend it.

"Working eight hours a day can earn you a whole Kieran? How come I never knew working could pay so much?"

"This money is specifically for buying some clean clothes; we can't just wander around in our work clothes every day, can we?"

After cleaning the store together, Logan walked out of the store to go home, only to see Claire standing at the door, staring blankly at the dark street.

"Why aren't you home, Claire? Are you waiting for someone?" he asked kindly.

Claire turned around, her face showing apprehension. "This is my first time walking alone at midnight, I'm a little scared..."

Her embarrassed expression, coupled with her pitiful eyes, made Logan want to help her.

"But let's wait a bit."

[Mission Assigned: Frontline Escort]

[Sister Claire, a medical clerk from the Sisters of the Order, wanted to cross the heavily armed lines to return to her temporary battlefield medical unit and be escorted back.]

[Reward: +20 Merit Points]

"Great, you're here right away."

He placed the pizza he wanted to take home in a secluded spot near the store entrance, and then suggested:

"Then let me take you back..."

"OK!"

Logan had only spoken halfway when Claire preemptively agreed, her face no longer showing the timidity she had before, but rather a hint of excitement.

Seeing this, Logan could only silently lament to himself:

The cunning Slaanesh.

Pioneer Square is considered one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in Seattle. No one is advised to walk alone at night, let alone a girl like Claire with a stunning figure. In the shadows, who knows how many black people and non-black people are lurking and ready to cause trouble.

She couldn't possibly not know; perhaps, from the moment she decided to switch shifts, she had already thought of having Logan take her home.

They walked under the streetlights, with Logan keeping about half a step behind Claire to prevent any potential attacks.

But two consecutive streetlights ahead were broken, creating a dark area several meters long. Logan quietly released a small amount of [Tidal Wave]; he hadn't reached his limit for today.

With each heartbeat, a slight heat spread throughout his body, and his spirit, no longer tired from work, became much more energetic.

As he entered the dark area, he deliberately slowed his pace, leaving a two-step gap between himself and others. At the same time, he placed his hand on his waist, ready to summon his combat knife at any moment, then slash someone's body to create some blood and earn some Khorne points.

Unfortunately, not a single clueless black man appeared until they stepped under another lit streetlamp. Logan relaxed considerably, moving his hand from his waist to another spot.

However, after taking only a couple of steps, he heard hurried footsteps, but by then it was too late to react.

Soon, he felt a heavy blow to his back, producing a dull sound like hard objects colliding and a sound like a piece of wood breaking.

At the same time, another figure darted in front of Claire and began lewdly taunting, "Hehehehe! Beautiful lady! We're criminals who have repeatedly assaulted women on this street! Your companion has already been knocked unconscious by my accomplices. You'd better call for help now, or someone might come to your rescue!"

He was a white man, and judging from his clothes, he came from a well-off family. His body showed obvious signs of working out.

Claire became anxious upon seeing this. Instead of running away immediately, she turned to look at Logan with concern. Only when she saw that Logan was still standing there, as if nothing had happened, did she feel relieved.

He was hit on the head with a club. Although his skin was as hard as pine wood due to the escalation of Khonnosae, he was still very angry that he had been attacked.

More importantly, these two actually tried to sabotage his mission.

Unforgivable!

Logan, his face grim, stepped forward and pulled Claire to his side, then summoned a combat knife from his waist with his other hand.

The sleazy white man then noticed that Logan hadn't been knocked down. He questioned his companion, "What happened to you? How are we going to complete our plan like this?"

His companion, also a white man who seemed to be in similar circumstances, was equally puzzled: "I don't know! My stick broke, why didn't he react at all?"

"plan?"

Logan instantly had a guess. He looked around and sure enough, at the alley where the two white men appeared, he found a half-figure that appeared for a moment and then shrank back, which looked like it was empowered by the power of the Nine Dragons.

"Playing this game? Interesting."

"Let's go, let's go!"

Seeing that their plan was failing, the two white men retreated together and fled back to the alley they had just been in.

"Danger averted. Although we didn't get any blood, the mission wasn't a failure either."

"As for that half-figure, we'll verify it later if we have the chance."

"Are you alright? Did they hit you with a stick?" Claire was eager to know Logan's injuries, and even reached out to take off his clothes to check.

He quickly retreated to a safe distance: "It's okay, it's okay. I'm in good physical condition, and that stick wasn't very strong."

"I can't let her see that after I was hit with a stick, my back was completely unharmed, except for some minor internal injuries under the skin."

"That's good." Claire nodded, her expression seemingly somewhat forlorn.

A dozen minutes later, the two finally arrived at the building where she lived.

"Would you like to come up and sit for a while?"

Claire asked.
