Chapter 47 I, the Anti-Routine, Was Tricked
On the surface, Chi Que remained unmoved, but in his heart, he secretly noted it down: People from the capital? Could they be related to that mysterious princess?
"If you have time, you can come to the church for a chat." Just then, a barely audible voice reached his ears.
Chi Que paused slightly, looked ahead, and saw Isaac giving him a mysterious smile.
Before he could respond, the important figure from the capital left with his entourage, and the minor nobles hurriedly got up.
Red swallowed the last bite of his pancake and followed, and the crowd parted to make way for him, just as Moses parted the sea.
Soon, the shop became quiet again, but at the door, many small business owners and ordinary people with spare money hesitated, seemingly wondering whether to go in for a lavish meal.
Just then, someone else entered the shop.
It was Vincent, whom I had met yesterday.
The attendants behind him carried a box, and they walked into the shop one after the other; it must be the antique he had mentioned.
"Shopkeeper, you really gave me a fright." Vincent walked to the counter and said with lingering fear, "I had just reached the street corner when I encountered the clearing out. I didn't expect you could even make connections with people from the capital."
"It was just a coincidence." Chi Que shook his head.
He glanced at the large trunk Vincent had brought: "Is this the antique you mentioned?"
Vincent's face immediately lit up with a smile: "These are all treasures carefully selected from those old items. Shall we take a look now? I guarantee you'll be satisfied."
He rubbed his hands together as he spoke, his eyes filled with eagerness.
Chi Que glanced inside the store. Although Isaac and the others had already left, there were still quite a few citizens hesitating outside the door.
Among them were citizens who had just been cleared out and blocked, as well as some well-dressed small business owners who had come after hearing the news.
"No rush." Chi Que shook his head and looked at the potential customers. "It's lunchtime now. Let's talk about it later. What would you like to eat?"
Upon hearing this, Vincent glanced back at his two attendants, then, smelling the lingering aroma of stew in the air, he couldn't help but swallow hard. "Um, please give us three servings of bread with the stew."
"Okay." Chi Que nodded.
As Vincent and his group placed their orders, the crowd watching from the doorway finally succumbed to the temptation and entered in twos and threes. Although most customers were still astonished by the prices, the previous intimidation from the VIPs deterred anyone from causing trouble or questioning the prices.
There was a little incident in the middle: Reed returned. It turned out that the bishop had sent Reed to help out and do the work of a waiter in order to repay the Chi Que for his donation the day before.
The bishop seemed to have anticipated that the restaurant would be very busy that day, and Reid himself volunteered. Considering that there were indeed many diners, Chi Que finally accepted the church's offer.
Soon, a busy noon passed, and Chi Que looked at the newly added numbers on the food record panel, a slight smile appearing on his lips.
If all goes well, he can raise his chef proficiency to blue tonight, one level per day!
"Alright." Chi Que walked to the counter and looked at the wooden box Vincent had brought. "Let me see the antiques you brought."
Upon hearing this, Vincent immediately directed his attendants to take out three wooden boxes and line them up on the counter.
Reid also curiously came over at this moment, after all, this was left behind by the ancient church, which was a perfect match for a trainee priest.
The merchant smiled and said, "Please take a look, sir. These are some of the best antiques brought back from the ancient religious country."
He was about to show them off one by one when Chi Que interrupted him, saying, "No need, let's just look at the last one."
The pattern is that the first item is ordinary, the second item will pique his interest, but the last item will be the truly good one.
That's why he decided to just look at the third item from the start.
"You really are..." Vincent gave a wry smile, "But this is indeed the most precious of the three."
He opened the third box, and inside was a sword, its design simple yet imposing, clearly no ordinary item.
"This is... the sword of the Holy Knight of the Ancient Kingdom?!" Reid exclaimed in surprise.
"According to church records, the sword of a paladin is blessed, capable of cutting through iron like mud and vanquishing evil. Moreover, judging from the pattern, it should be the sword of a knight commander," he explained.
Vincent smiled reservedly. He naturally understood the origin of the sword, but as a member of the Vatican, Reid's explanation was far more credible than his own.
He pushed the box in front of Chi Que: "Your Excellency, please take a look."
"What a fine sword!" he exclaimed, then asked, "May I try swinging it?"
"Of course," Vincent replied quite readily.
Chi Que gripped the hilt of his sword, drew the blade from its sheath, and its cold light flashed as if it could pierce the eyes. He then swung it across the open ground, the sword light slicing through the air and even producing a sound of wind breaking.
"It's really sharp," Reed exclaimed.
Chi Que's expression turned strange.
This sword seems... quite ordinary?

"Can I look at something else?" With a hint of disappointment, he put down his sword and asked Vincent.
"Of course, but sir, is there something wrong with this sword?" The merchant was taken aback by Chi Que's reaction.
In his opinion, the shopkeeper must be someone of high status to be able to use so many spices in cooking. Perhaps there was some flaw in the sword that he had not noticed, which had been discovered.
"It's a good sword, but I don't usually need to use it. Why don't we look at something else?" Chi Que casually offered a reason.
A flicker of disappointment crossed Vincent's eyes, but he quickly composed himself and smiled slickly, "Your Excellency certainly has discerning taste. This sword is indeed not quite suitable for everyday use. Why don't you take a look at this one?"
As he spoke, he pushed the box aside and opened the middle box.
Inside the box lay an elegantly shaped cup. Reed instinctively made a prayer gesture in front of his chest: "This is the Holy Grail used in rituals. My teacher had one too, but it wasn't as exquisite."
Upon hearing this, the businessman became slightly smug.
After all, it surpasses the collection of the Duchy Church.
But when facing Chi Que, he still humbly said, "Indeed, this is the Holy Grail that was unearthed from a hidden altar."
Chi Que's gaze fell on the Holy Grail. He picked it up and weighed it in his hand; it felt heavy.
The game's hints appeared.
