Chapter 44 Blood-Red Crystal
"So, are you dead?" Chi Que asked casually, causing the silver-haired youth to choke on his words.
Fighting is common among vampires, and given their exceptional regenerative abilities, the duchess wouldn't care much if someone was only seriously injured.
"But you ambushed me and used some forbidden drug that prevents my wounds from healing..." As he spoke, the vampire youth's voice gradually lowered, realizing that he couldn't hold a case.
On the contrary, Aston's eyes flickered a few times when he heard about the prohibited drugs, seemingly quite interested in them.
"It's just that you're not skilled enough," Chi Que stated calmly. "Get out of my way. This prey is mine."
The vampire youth suddenly looked up, his scarlet eyes fixed on Chi Que: "Don't go too far! Do you think you can take on more than a dozen of our clansmen at once?!"
"Dealing with just you is enough for me," Chi Que said slowly. "I have a second attack, and this time, I'll shatter your heart. Want to try?"
The silver-haired youth fell silent for a moment. That attack was too strange, as if it came from nothingness and could not be found at all.
Even if he survived that blow, he would likely need decades to recover from his injuries and be unable to move around.
Seeing the silver-haired youth fall silent, Chi Que turned to Aston. To conceal his identity, he disguised himself again to ensure that the other party would not recognize him as the player from before.
"Lord Aston, do you have a problem with this?" Chi Que said, shaking his subordinate as if to throw him off the clock tower.
Aston looked at him, his mind racing, but finally sighed, "I have no objection either."
Seeing that both sides on the field had shown concessions to him, Chi Que turned his gaze to the black-armored knight.
Despite its formidable strength, it was now on the verge of death amidst the encirclement of the crowd.
Seemingly noticing Chi Que's gaze, the black-armored knight turned his scarlet eyes toward him.
The red light in his eyes suddenly became even stronger.
"It's you!!!" With a deafening roar, the black-armored knight, who should have been completely incapacitated, suddenly stood up, holding a broken sword, and charged towards the clock tower where Chi Que was, amidst the shocked gazes of the crowd.
Seeing that things were not going well, Chi Que immediately turned and ran.
Midway through, he didn't forget to toss the player back to Aston: "Here you go!"
He didn't want things to escalate to the point of becoming mortal enemies with the other party.
Aston hurriedly caught his subordinate, and then saw the black-armored knight chase after the mysterious figure, disappearing into the blood-red night.
The crowd exchanged bewildered glances.
......
Chi Que was moving at high speed on the roof.
The celebration of the first night was coming to an end, and the blood mist around him had thinned considerably, which slowed him down.
Behind him, the black-armored knight completely ignored the obstacles on the street, crashing into everything in his path like a runaway truck, his eyes burning with bloodlust as he locked onto the figure in front of him.
"Damn it... how can this thing be so strong?" Chi Que gritted his teeth, leaped over a pavilion, and the black-armored knight smashed it to pieces. It wasn't that he didn't have a way to deal with this monster, but the other party was pressing him step by step, and he simply couldn't use it.
He passed through a narrow alley and suddenly heard a faint humming sound.
The voice came from below. Mi'er was standing in the alley, staring at him with bright eyes.
The moment the song reached his ears, Chi Que suddenly felt his body become lighter and more agile, and the black-armored knight caught up at that moment.
Don't miss out!
Chi Que landed heavily on the roof ridge, using the momentum to twist in the air and face the knight head-on, raising the final song in his hand.
The last bullet of the day.
He pulled the trigger.
The Cavaliers' momentum came to an abrupt halt.
It stood frozen in place, the broken sword hanging in mid-air, the blood-red light in its eyes flashing rapidly before finally going out completely.
However, he remained upright, and wisps of dark red blood mist seeped from the gaps in his armor, condensing into a blood-red crystal.
The dust has settled.
Chi Que landed lightly, slightly out of breath.
"Master Chef, you're really amazing." A cheerful voice came from behind, and Mia had somehow gotten close to him.
How did she recognize me?
Alarm bells rang loudly in Chi Que's mind.
He was still in disguise, and both his face and physique were completely different from the chef's. In the chaos of the Blood Moon Festival, even Aston and the group of vampires failed to recognize him.
Chi Que lowered his voice: "You...you've mistaken me for someone else, haven't you?"
Mi'er blinked, her smile brightening. She stepped forward and leaned close to Chi Que, saying, "I didn't mistake you. Although your appearance and voice have changed, you're still a chef."
Her tone was matter-of-fact, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.
Chi Que was stunned.
He stared intently into Mi'er's eyes, trying to discern whether she was being teased or probing, but her eyes remained crystal clear.
He stopped singing his final song and shrugged casually, "Okay, you caught me. That song from earlier...?"
"It's an artist's ability," Mi'er said. "It can support teammates and apply various buffs. How about it, has it helped Mr. Chef?"
It sounds a bit like being a chef, except that it doesn't require ingredients and relies on the player.
"Very helpful." Chi nodded slightly, then looked at Mi'er, "Is the choir's work finished?"
"Mm." Mi'er nodded.
"It's not safe here, let's leave first," Chi Que said, and took the lead into the depths of the alley.
Mi'er quickly followed and walked beside him.
He didn't ask, and Mi'er didn't speak either, but just hummed a song softly. The blood moon hung high, stretching their shadows long.
Chi Que, unusually, didn't think about anything, and the two spent a leisurely time together.
Back in her rented room, Mi'er paid the rent for the day and then went to the bathroom to wash up. Although Chi Que was still curious about her inexplicable ability to recognize things, he was more concerned about the Black Armor Knight at the moment.
Why did the other person shout "It's you?"
He could guarantee that he had never come into contact with anything suspicious before. If he was angry at the Blood Moon, he should have gone mad when he encountered the vampires. Why was it him?
"Could it be that I have unknowingly changed history again?" Chi Que recalled what happened in the first instance.
There were no girls among the original victims of wrongful death. It was because he traveled back in time and left behind a body that his resentment found a vessel over the long years, eventually giving birth to this special being.
But how could this black-armored knight be related to him?
Could it be that he encountered that princess in the past?
But that doesn't make sense either. The past timeline was almost entirely a magic-free environment, so how did that princess suddenly appear?
Unable to figure it out, Chi Que simply returned to his room and took out the blood crystal he had obtained after killing the black-armored knight.
