Chapter 24 An Overly Realistic Career System

Luna.

Chi Que instantly recalled the silver moon he saw when he left the instance of the unjustly killed.

That scene gave him a huge shock at the time, but soon, due to the transit station controversy, he temporarily put it aside.

Now, with the girl in front of him asking questions, he almost immediately recalled the matter.

"It seems you've seen him." Seeing his reaction, the girl guessed what was going on and picked up the teacup on the table to take a sip.

Chi Que knew that the other party was trying to draw him into her conversation, so he chose to change the subject.

"What exactly is the use of a singularity?" he asked.

"You're such a... mood killer." The guild leader rolled his eyes at him, then said softly, "After reaching the Yellow level, a Black Iron class must fuse with a Singularity to advance to Bronze."

Chi Que suddenly realized, "So that's how it is."

The guild leader pinched the rabbit's ears: "Alright, I've answered one of your questions. Now it's your turn to answer mine. How did you meet the Moon Goddess in that newbie dungeon?"

Chi Que hesitated for a moment, but ultimately chose to speak first. After all, the other party's abilities could easily induce him to reveal all the information without concealment, and speaking first would allow him to retain some information.

He briefly mentioned the contents of the dungeon, mainly focusing on the scene he witnessed upon leaving.

After listening to Chi Que's story, the president nodded slightly, then closed his eyes, seemingly lost in thought.

"You saw the map, didn't you?" The girl pointed out the window. "The core of this map is related to the moon goddess."

He immediately noticed the underlying meaning in her words: "Are there other maps in the game?"

"Why is your focus always so peculiar?" The girl gave a malicious smile. "However, I won't answer that question for now. Let's continue talking about the Moon Goddess."

Are you actually using my words against me?

President, you are truly despicable.

"I don't know anything else," Chi Que shook his head.

"I know," the guild leader said. "I never expected a new player to know much about the Moon Goddess."

She paused slightly, then said, "But you have seen Him, or at least a remnant of His power, and that is enough."

That's just making things complicated.

"So?" he asked, "you also want to send someone into that newbie instance to replicate my experience?"

He asked the question he already knew the answer to.

"How could that be?" The girl shook her head, glanced at him, seemingly seeing through the test, but did not expose him. "In the mysticism, it is almost impossible for mortals to meet the gods. Your ability to do so, even if it is just a reflection, is enough to prove your special status."

Is he special? Chi Que doesn't mind being called that, since he has always believed that he is different from ordinary people.

At this point, he understood the intention: "You want me to go to other instances to search for clues about the Moon Goddess?"

Since the Moon Goddess is one of the core elements of this map, there should be traces of her in other dungeons as well.

"It was just something I did on the side," the guild leader chuckled. "After all, you're going to be participating in the dungeon anyway, aren't you?"

"You have to pay for the intelligence, right?" he asked bluntly.

"Okay," the girl said, spreading her hands. "But in that case, I need to specify the region for your next dungeon run."

"Region?" Chi Que asked.

"Each map contains several regions." The girl indirectly acknowledged the existence of multiple maps. "And each region is composed of several smaller sub-regions. Players can choose which region to conquer, and the game will provide random dungeons."

Chi Que listened attentively.

"Each region contains at least one singularity," the guild leader continued. "Once the core singularity is acquired, a new region will be unlocked. The region I want you to go to is the one that was recently unlocked."

"That sounds like a very risky assignment." Chi Que narrowed his eyes. Isn't this just like a pioneering team?

"Heh." The girl chuckled and shook her head. "If it were truly an area rich in information, would you even have a chance to clear it? Besides, while these new areas are dangerous, the rewards are substantial."

Chi Que nodded, not denying that he had only said those things to gain more benefits.

He has decided to accept the commission.

It's not much different from his real-world job: accepting commissions, conducting investigations, and completing tasks.

"However—" he suddenly stretched out his hand, rubbing his thumb and forefinger together, "let's pay the deposit first."

The president raised an eyebrow: "What do you want?"

"I'm not picky," Chi Que said nonchalantly. "Ten or eight pieces of yellow equipment will do."

The president stared at him, then smiled.

I laughed in exasperation.

"You think yellow gear is as easy as cabbage?" She pinched the rabbit's ears. "Why don't you just rob it?"

"Robbery is illegal." Chi Que said without changing his expression.

The guild leader took a deep breath, suppressing the urge to throw the rabbit doll at him: "Let's talk about it after you bring back the information. However, I have an item here that is even more valuable than a normal yellow-grade equipment."

Chi Que listened attentively.

The girl looked at him, deliberately drawing out her words and giving him a smug look: "You... want to become a chef?"

chef?

Having learned from his previous experience, Chi Que naturally wouldn't underestimate this seemingly defenseless class, but—

"I already have a job, and changing jobs would have too much of an impact on me." He immediately wanted to refuse.

"Hey, what's the rush?" the president called out to him. "What I'm giving you isn't an ordinary job, but a second job."

A second job?

Chi Que was taken aback: "There's such a thing?"

"That's right." The guild leader nodded in satisfaction. "Although it can't provide mastery like a main profession, proficiency and skills can be acquired normally, and it doesn't affect the main profession's growth."

She continued, "Chefs can use ingredients from the instance to cook, which not only increases satiety time but also provides various buffs and a small amount of healing."

"Is this really not some kind of alchemist?" Chi Que couldn't help but complain as he listened to the descriptions of these abilities.

"There are no alchemists in the game, or rather, the chef occupies the niche that alchemists occupy," the guild leader said.

Chi Que was taken aback: "No alchemists?"

"Then let me ask you, are there alchemists in reality?" the girl retorted, with an expression that said, "You still need to ask that?"

He was silent.

It seems...that's how it is.

Based on the current situation, the professions in this game seem to exist in reality, or at least have prototypes.

"But I also met a fortune teller before...?" he asked, as if suddenly remembering something.

"He's actually a charlatan," the girl said. "But if he reaches the Bronze level, he might actually become a true fortune teller."

Chi Que felt his illusions shattered in an instant.
