Chapter 19 A Corner of the Former Underworld
Chi Que followed the girl into the underground garden.
Twenty years have passed, and almost nothing has changed here.
The girl stopped in front of a stone table. On the table was a black cloth, and there seemed to be something pressed under it.
It was a small doll.
Chi Que took it; it was about the size of a palm, with an extremely strange texture, as if it were made of flesh and blood, and its face resembled his.
"This is..." He paused.
"Doesn't it look a lot like you?" the girl said with a smile.
"Where did it come from?" he asked.
The girl tilted her head, as if recalling something: "Didn't you die here once?"
Chi Que was taken aback at first, then realized that he was referring to the timeline in which the entire expedition team was wiped out.
The girl said, "Everyone else's body will rot, but yours is different; it will always be fresh."
"So this is a doll?" Chi Que suddenly had a bad feeling.
"It was made from your corpse," the girl replied.
His hand holding the doll trembled involuntarily, and he almost dropped it.
"No," Chi Que almost cursed, "Are you guys crazy? What kind of doll are you making from my corpse?"
"Your body is empty," the girl said. "If we lean against you, we can temporarily forget our pain."
Chi Que was taken aback.
"That's how I woke up," she said, "leaning against you, little by little, I remembered who I was."
So that's how it is?
Chi Que suddenly understood why the girl hadn't appeared twenty years ago: because she only woke up after he died.
This explained many of his doubts, such as why Wen Lu was so certain that the girl was a player, why he could see her memories, and why she so easily accepted his nonsense.
"We were all very anxious when you reappeared," the girl said, "because the doll started to disintegrate. Originally, it was the size of a normal person, but now, it's only this small."
Chi Que breathed a sigh of relief.
This resolved one of his doubts: whether dying in the past would affect him in the present.
Currently, it appears to be primarily driven by his own consciousness.
"Then I'll accept it." He nodded.
【Flesh and Blood Doll - Pure White】
[Rank: Iron]
[Substitute: A special doll made from one's own flesh and blood, capable of shielding the holder from one fatal blow.]
This is great stuff!
Chi Que instantly forgot his previous disdain. With this thing, wouldn't it be like having an extra life?
This didn't seem to be all the resentment was going to give him. The girl led him forward, and he followed.
"We're here." The girl stopped.
Chi Que saw a clearing ahead, about ten paces square, with a gun stuck in the center, the barrel facing down and embedded in a crevice in the rock.
He instinctively reached for his waist and realized that Chekhov's gun was gone.
"This is a gift for you," the girl said. "We kept the gun."
Chi Que stepped forward and drew his gun.
【Swan Song - Breaking Purple】
[Rank: Black Iron]
[A pistol that once created a miracle.]
[Final Strike: The shot is guaranteed to hit, causing damage and bleeding to the affected area. Cannot be used in conjunction with Break.]
[Time Break: Fires a bullet that hits the target one to ten minutes later, and is guaranteed to strike a vital organ.]
[Miracle: Every 24 hours, three bullets are replenished to the magazine, with a maximum storage capacity of nine bullets.]
[Ingenuity: Damage is increased based on Ingenuity Mastery.]
It had been silent, waiting in the darkness, until someone grasped it and aimed it at nothingness.
"Truly powerful yet not sinister," Chi Que exclaimed, stroking the hard-won pistol with delight.
"I'm sorry," the girl said, "this gun is still damaged. If you can find a craftsman later, he should be able to repair it. Then it will be able to unleash its true power."
Can it be further enhanced?
Holding the gun, Chi Que realized that it was indeed true; twenty years had passed, and the gun was now covered in rust.
Sigh, it still requires too much skill.
"This is the last one," the girl continued. "We don't need it anymore, please take it."
Chi Que stepped forward and walked into the darkness.
[A transcendent singularity has been detected. Acquire it?]
The game's notification sound came on.
Transcendental Singularity?
Chi Que's heart stirred slightly.
"Get it." He gave the order.
[Transcendent Singularity Acquired]
[Remnants of Hades]
Rank: Bronze
A handful of former underworld soil
If the world of the living cannot bring fairness, then seek it in the world of the dead. Harboring ideals, He became increasingly twisted by His obsession, and thus unleashed a calamity of the dead upon the world of the living.
The Lord of Death ultimately perished under the moonlight.
Chi Que was stunned.
Wow, that's a lot of information!
He processed the shock brought on by the underworld and then discovered something very serious.
How do I use this?
It looks impressive but doesn't explain its functions at all in the game's description.
Chi Que felt a sense of helplessness.
The strongest one looks like, but it's unusable.
However, with the Flesh and Blood Puppet and the Swan Song, this dungeon run was definitely worthwhile.
Chi Que walked out of the manor.
The snowstorm has stopped, and although the sky is still overcast, the sun is about to rise in the distance.
The girl followed behind him; her body had faded considerably, foreshadowing the imminent completion of the historical balance.
However, those players who died disappeared during the balancing process. If given enough time, they might be able to be resurrected during the balancing process, but this instance is already nearing its end.
The white dog waited outside the manor, pulling the sled himself. When it saw Chi Que come out, it wagged its tail.
Chi Que walked over, squatted down, patted the lead white dog, and got on the sled.
"One last question," he said, looking at the girl.
"What?"
"When you first entered the instance, that is, when you first appeared, how did you appear?"
"What are you talking about?" she asked, looking puzzled. "I've always been in the manor."
Chi Que was stunned.
He suddenly realized something—
He couldn't remember what the "sixth man" looked like at all.
He remembered the students, the strong man, the corporate slaves, and Wen Lu, but he had no recollection of the sixth person.
He can't even remember the face.
"What exactly is this..." Chi Que murmured to himself.
He raised his head.
In the sky, there was a huge, full moon.
The moonlight poured down, illuminating the snow-covered ground in a white glow.
He was getting further and further away from the manor.
Chi Que had witnessed this scene before.
Twenty years ago.
The landscape painting in the room.
A moon, but what lies beneath it? I can't see clearly.
But now he sees it clearly.
"Ah!" Chi Que's eyes widened instantly.
