Chapter 12 Money to Buy a Life
"Who?!" Chi Que reacted extremely quickly. His first thought was that the girl had followed him, and he quickly drew his gun.
But he soon realized that the body shape was wrong.
"It's me! Don't shoot!" a terrified voice rang out, young and somewhat naive.
It's that student.
"What are you doing here?" Chi Que released his grip, quickly scanned the wine cellar, and kept his distance from the other person.
The student, panting, said, "I was trying to find a room to hide in, and when I saw the door was open, I crawled in... I didn't expect you to be here too..."
His eyes suddenly widened: "Wait, where did you get a gun?"
"I found it on the road, but it didn't have any bullets, so it can only be used as a deterrent," Chi Que explained calmly.
He even showed the other party an empty magazine.
"Oh...I see..." The student seemed to believe Chi Que's explanation, and squatted down with a wry smile. "Why won't it give us bullets?"
Before he could finish speaking, Chi Que suddenly raised his hand, signaling for silence.
"Shh-"
The students were taken aback at first, and then froze.
He heard it too.
Tap...tap...tap...
A voice came from afar.
Clear, slow, yet rhythmic, the sound echoed jarringly in the deathly still manor at midnight.
Interspersed throughout were eerie "click" sounds that sent chills down the students' spines.
The sound stopped outside the wine cellar door.
The faint light from outside was blocked by that long, distorted silhouette, which was extremely tall, almost reaching the ceiling, casting an extremely distorted shadow. Its limbs were extremely thin, as if it were deformed.
It was that dark figure!
Chi Que gripped his pistol tightly.
The student's teeth chattered uncontrollably: "We're doomed...we're doomed...that monster has its eye on us."
He collapsed to the ground: "I...don't want to die. I'm their only child...what will happen to my parents if I die?"
Chi Que wanted to say that his parents could have another child, but after thinking about it, he decided to remain silent for the time being.
The student finally looked at Chi Que: "I...I can't die...Listen! I'm not going to wait to die. I'll run out later, just like you said. Whoever survives is up to fate."
Chi Que shook his head: "The one who goes out is more likely to die."
The student's face turned pale, and he looked like he was about to cry: "Brother, please don't say things like that at a time like this!"
Chi Que smiled, recalling the two times he had scared the students.
The student glanced at him one last time, then rushed out of the wine cellar without hesitation. Midway, he turned back and said something.
Chi Que didn't hear clearly, but he guessed it from the shape of his mouth.
I don't owe you anything anymore.
The slender shadow was led away.
Chi Que took a deep breath.
Now it's his turn to owe someone else.
He pulled out his gun and chased after them.
at the same time.
The student had only one thought left in his mind.
run!
The dark figure relentlessly pursued him, and he could clearly feel the wind behind him, which seemed to envelop him like death itself.
He stumbled around the corner and bumped into someone.
It's that girl with the oval face! She's standing in the middle of the corridor, tilting her head, as if admiring the wind and snow outside the window.
"Run! There's a monster behind us!" the student yelled, warning her.
The girl slightly turned to the side, making way for him, but didn't run after him. Without thinking, he brushed past her.
Pfft!
The student was tripped precisely and fell hard onto the cold, hard floor tiles, experiencing a sharp pain and then everything went black.
He struggled to sit up, looking up incredulously: "What...what are you doing?!"
The girl slowly turned around, looked down at the student lying on the ground, and smiled, "I'm a wolf."
The students were stunned.
At this moment, the shadowy figure caught up, but instead of attacking the students immediately, it stood aside as if waiting for instructions.
Driven by the instinct for survival, the student stammered, "Actually...actually I'm a wizard! I used the antidote on myself! So...tonight...can you let me go tonight?"
He tried to think according to the logic of Werewolf.
"Antidote?" the girl countered. "What kind of antidote?"
She suddenly stopped, a look of surprise on her face.
......
[Three players remain]
When Chi Que arrived, the student had already become a corpse.
"Damn it!" He slammed his fist on the pillar next to him, shaking off a lot of dust.
In Chi Que's view, although the other party watched him go on dangerous missions, he also used the students as guinea pigs.
There was absolutely nothing between them that owed each other anything; the fact that he ran away at that time made him feel like he owed someone a favor.
Although it was a small matter, it still made Chi Que feel uncomfortable, but now, the other party is dead.
"Useless thing..." Chi Que muttered, looking down at the other person's corpse, and couldn't help but frown.
Not right.
There were no external injuries on his body.
He turned it over, pried open its mouth and nose with a dry branch from the roadside, and quickly checked it over.
The students were poisoned.
"Who killed you?" Chi Que brushed his eyelids away, only to find that the closed eyelids had opened again.
He had found the answer in his heart.
"I will avenge you," he whispered, closing his eyes again, this time, completely shut.
Just as he was about to leave, a voice suppressing anger suddenly came from the courtyard next door.
"Is this how you treat your allies?!"
Wen Lu emerged from behind a half-collapsed door, her face ashen, clutching the nearly ruined pistol tightly.
She seemed to have just arrived here.
Chi Que turned to the side, his face showing no surprise, remaining calm, even with a hint of coldness.
He looked Wen Lu up and down to make sure she was unharmed before slowly asking, "Allies? When were we allies?"
Wen Lu was stunned by the question, then her anger flared even more: "You! You bastard! You took my intelligence! You even made demands! And I agreed to your demands! Aren't we all allies?!"
She brandished the broken gun, her eyes practically spitting fire: "This is your way of 'cooperating'?!"
Chi Que's gaze fell on the gun in her hand, and the corner of his mouth twitched very slightly, revealing a smile.
"Wenlu," he said slowly, "those three conditions are not an alliance, but rather a life-saving fee for you."
He took a step forward, an invisible pressure bearing down on her, causing Wen Lu to instinctively take a half-step back: "I could have just killed you back then. You didn't naively think that a verbal alliance could buy you an ally you could entrust your life to, did you?"
Wen Lu opened her mouth, but found that she could not refute it, because Chi Que really had not said anything about forming an alliance with him.
Chi Que stared at her and slowly backed away: "Let's rely on our own abilities. As for forming an alliance? That comes at a different price."
"Wait," Wen Lu called out to him, gritting her teeth, "Even if we can't be allies, we can still cooperate!"
"What are you planning to do?" Chi Que stopped in his tracks.
"Kill it!" She made a throat-slitting gesture.
