Huayu: Were you ever a top star before writing nonsense?

Chen Chichi, Wang Chuanjun, Deng Jiajia, and others in the same drama successfully shed their character labels, but Li Jinming did not.

She became a host on Anhui TV's "Weekend Me, the Biggest," where she demonstrated strong stage presence. After the first season of "iPartment" aired, she also starred in some new dramas, but none of them made a big splash.

By 14, Li Jinming's acting career had hit a low point, and she decided to participate in a rural dating reality show called "Celebrities Come to My Home".

The production team had her play the role of a "daughter-in-law" to experience rural life. She thought it was just a normal TV experience, but she never expected that this experience would cause her such great psychological trauma.

In the program, Li Jinming encountered numerous difficulties from his "mother-in-law" and "sister-in-law," and was even forced to do arduous farm work and endure verbal abuse.

Even more outrageous, this didn't end with the show. The family actually treated her like their daughter-in-law, preventing her from returning to her parents' home, and even sued the production team.

Although Li Jinming ultimately won the case, that "mother-in-law" continued to exploit Li Jinming's popularity online from 2014 to 2026, claiming to be Jinming's mother, and even posting on Weibo that she slept in the room Jinming had stayed in, smelling her lingering scent, and expressing her longing for Jinming and her desire for her return.

This absurd and malicious experience may be the reason why Li Jinming has never gotten married.

Of course, none of these things have happened yet in this era.

Shen Can guessed that Li Jinming's question about screenwriting was probably because he was anxious to get a good role.

But Shen Can had an even better idea.

At this moment, Zhao Ji and Li Jinming also sat down on the sofa. Shen Can picked up an orange from the coffee table, peeled it, and said casually:

"Jin Ming, have you been working lately?"

Zhao Ji looked at Shen Can in surprise, wondering why he suddenly asked this.

Li Jinming shook his head, somewhat dejected, and said, "No."

Although Shen Can's short videos gave her some exposure online, it's not a long-running drama, so it's difficult for her to use this as a representative work to compete for roles in a long-running drama.

"Would you be willing to be my agent?"

After Shen Can finished speaking, he divided the oranges into three portions.

"Agent?" Zhao Ji and Jin Ming asked in unison. The two women exchanged a glance, both seeing bewilderment on each other's faces.

Shen Can nodded and handed the two portions of oranges to the two women.

This decision was made on a whim, but it was also a practical necessity.

In the entertainment industry, the relationship between artists and their agents is very complex and varies greatly.

Some artists and their agents have a purely boss-employee relationship.

Some agents are relatives or friends of the artist, such as parents, uncles, sisters, maternal uncles, etc.

There are also couples, such as Da Zhangwei and his manager Liu Ying.

And the supervisory relationship between professional agencies and their signed artists.

Having a good agent is crucial for a celebrity; otherwise, they could be ruined in no time.

What happens when you encounter a bad agent?

Shen Can had heard far too much of this kind of gossip in his past life.

Jackson Wang: His friend and manager secretly transferred 40% of his assets. Later, he simply abandoned his manager and handled all work personally, taking on all collaborations and endorsements himself.

Hou Minghao: His agent is actually his hater. He secretly infiltrated the fan group for three years and liked hundreds of negative posts with a fake account: from "exaggerated acting" to "bullying on set", he didn't even spare posts from rival companies' businesses.

Zhao Wenqi: The actress who played "Qin Yumo" in "iPartment". Her agent colluded with outsiders to set up a "pig butchering scam" for her, swindling her out of a seven-figure sum of money.

Yuan Shanshan: After her manager, Li Ang, was fired by the company, the company did not issue a public statement to save face for both parties. As a result, she continued to claim to be Yuan Shanshan's manager within the industry, which not only damaged the artist's image but also caused Yuan Shanshan to turn down various jobs. This incident even prompted her to post a message on her WeChat Moments.

Wang Baoqiang: His agent, Song, used his "big brother's" money to have an affair with his "sister-in-law," a real-life version of "Sister-in-law, don't look back, I'm your brother," a moral low point in the entertainment industry.

—The immortals are lined up like hemp.

In Shen Can's view, an agent's character must be impeccable.

This is the most important point; business skills are not important to him.

He doesn't need to ask others for resources, nor does he have many social obligations. Therefore, his agency business is very simple, mainly involving business performance negotiations, GG endorsements, and connecting with variety shows.

Originally, Shen Can's favorite candidate was his cousin, Xia Tian, who was also his uncle's daughter. However, she was a junior majoring in Chinese Language and Literature at Shancheng University. Shen Can planned to bring her over to help him when she entered her senior year internship.

Now, Shen Can needs someone to temporarily fill in for him at work.

Li Jinming is a good candidate.

She has the ability to speak well to be a host, and you can also see from her performance as a "daughter-in-law" on the show that she has a good ability to withstand pressure.

As for character... well, Shen Can just wants him to be a tool to handle trivial matters. He can make important decisions on his own, as long as Li Jinming doesn't ruin things for him.

Moreover, he believed that the bait he would give Li Jinming would make Li Jinming bite hard and not let go.

Besides that, Shen Can had another little secret to share.

In the sitcom "iPartment", Li Jinming played the role of a manager named "Mrs. Chen".

He's serious about replicating "iPartment" in real life.

Of course, if Li Jinming is not capable enough, we can just replace him.

"Actually, Zhao Ji is more suitable as my agent than Jin Ming, but it would be terrible if she got addicted to being an agent and stopped acting," Shen Can thought to himself.

It's a pity that Zhao Ji retired from the entertainment industry so early in her previous life.

He hoped that Zhao Ji's life would be filled with brilliance.

Li Jinming didn't agree immediately, but thought for a moment and asked:

"And the compensation?"

Upon hearing this, Shen Can knew there was hope.

"Monthly salary of 3000, plus bonuses and commissions. As for the working hours, I hope you can work until the end of June next year."

At the end of June, it was the time when my cousin finished her third year of college and was having summer vacation... What's there to play? She's coming to work.

And the auditions for "iPartment" were probably around that time as well.

"Furthermore, when I become a screenwriter and enter the film and television industry in the future, I will give you a good role."

This is the bait that Shen Can used.

In film and television dramas, some roles need to be played, but they are not that important. For example, in "Love O2O", there are two roommates besides Bei Weiwei and Zhao Erxi.

Many people may not even remember their names after watching the show.

However, for this kind of role, the production team does need to cast actors and pay them salaries.

Rather than giving the role to an outsider, it wouldn't hurt to give it to Li Jinming. Perhaps with his eloquence and connections, he could even get a lower salary.

Shen Can felt that he was definitely one of the most conscientious people in the entertainment industry. As a boss, he not only made promises but also thought about making them a reality... If this got out, wouldn't he win a "Touching China" award?

Shen Can smiled as he looked at Li Jinming, who was hesitating and making a decision.

"No need to reply right away. Let me know the result tomorrow. My novel will be available for purchase soon. I'm going back to my room now."

After Shen Can finished speaking, he got up and walked towards his room.

He left Zhao Ji and Li Jinming with a back view that exuded maturity and confidence, solidity and strength, and a strong sense of security.

Zhao Ji stared intently.

I'm craving it.
