Elegy from Another World

Chapter 65 Combining 2 into 1

Holy crap!

I stared at the two talking half-corpses for a good ten seconds before finally managing to utter this exclamation. The scene was far too bizarre and strange, beyond the comprehension of common sense.

After confirming several times that it wasn't a hallucination, I suppressed the turmoil in my heart and quickly took action. The four tentacles behind me deftly picked up the scattered, somewhat shriveled internal organs and carefully stuffed them back into the two bodies facing each other (it was clear that their remaining reproductive organ structures belonged to women). Then, I carefully used the tentacles to lift them up separately and rushed back to the helicopter parked outside the ruins as fast as I could.

As soon as I entered the cabin, I immediately opened the emergency communication channel with Utopia: "Selebrecht! Respond if you hear me! Activate emergency teleportation protocol, lock onto my helicopter's coordinates, and teleport me back immediately!"

This teleportation magic is the result of our reverse engineering based on our previous experience of being accidentally teleported in the Dragon's Cry Cave. Unfortunately, the technology is not yet perfect. Currently, it can only achieve one-way teleportation from a specific external coordinate back to the receiving point inside Utopia, and it cannot perform reverse teleportation or teleportation to any point.

【Received! Coordinates locked, initiating teleportation sequence... 3... 2... 1...】

A familiar, slight feeling of weightlessness and spatial distortion came over me. A few seconds later, the helicopter, along with me and the two "living" half-bodies inside, had smoothly appeared in the hangar inside Utopia.

I immediately moved these two incredible "patients" to the medical area. Xiao Pei (through the magical loudspeaker she had developed) and Tia, who rushed over upon hearing the news, were also incredulous at the sight.

"Lady Liscia, you mean...they...are still alive?" Tia stared at the mutilated bodies with horribly smooth cuts, her face filled with astonishment.

"It's absolutely true! I heard them talking with my own ears!" I affirmed.

As if to confirm my words, the lips of the left and right halves of their bodies trembled slightly again, uttering extremely weak and intermittent sounds: "Help...help me...it hurts so much..." Even more heartbreaking, tears mixed with blood seeped from the corners of their eyes.

Now, Xiaobei and Tia had no choice but to believe it. After the initial shock, their professional instincts led them to immediately begin the rescue.

However, the situation was more complicated than expected. Neither Tia's healing magic nor the advanced regenerative equipment in the medical area could be applied to the wound; it showed no signs of healing. Zoimem was urgently summoned, but her dragon blood, when dripped onto the wound, only caused the surrounding tissue to glow faintly; it also failed to promote healing.

"It's not a curse," Xiaobei analyzed, "but there's an unknown force preventing cell regeneration and physical healing."

I thought of my cloning ability. "Maybe I could try creating the missing half of their bodies?" I focused my mind and tried to clone the right and left halves of their bodies that perfectly matched the cut surfaces of the wounds. But strangely, when the cloned tissues approached the wounds, they produced a strong repulsive reaction, as if two completely different force fields were canceling each other out, making it impossible for them to fit together.

"No, I completely reject it." I gave up helplessly.

"Let's try accessing the symbiotic network," Xiaobei suggested. "Let's directly probe their consciousness and the depths of their memories and see if we can find any clues."

We carefully connected them to the network. But the feedback was even more despairing—their consciousness space was a chaotic mess, fragments of memory like spilled ink, mixed into an indistinguishable mass of blackness, countless times worse than Tina's situation, and completely unreadable.

"What do we do now?" Tia looked at me anxiously.

Just when she was at her wit's end, Xiaobei thought of a place—the core of the maze, the huge pink crystal that gave life and energy to Utopia.

"Perhaps we could try using the energy of the pleasure converter," Xiaobei explained, "maybe... we could forcibly 'glue' them together?"

"Merge two bodies into one?" I frowned. "That sounds too risky! Different individuals have different life frequencies and soul wavelengths. Forcing a fusion would definitely cause violent rejection, and it might collapse instantly!"

"But this is the only solution we can think of right now," Tia said, her eyes filled with pity as she looked at the two still-suffering halves of their bodies. "We can't just stand by and watch them continue like this... Let's try anything, Lady Liscia!"

Looking into Tia's expectant eyes, and then at the two tragically mangled halves of their bodies, I sighed, "...Alright, let's try. But if there's any severe rejection, we must stop immediately!"

We carefully moved the two halves to the core hall of the maze, placing them on either side of the pink crystal, ensuring the smooth cut surfaces were as close to the crystal as possible. Then, Xiao Bei manipulated dozens of the most delicate tentacles, like surgical sutures, gently connecting their wound surfaces and attaching the other ends of the tentacles to the pink crystal, guiding the warm and strange energy to flow in slowly.

We watched intently, holding our breath. At first, the cut surface of the wound showed no change, and we all thought we had failed. But a few minutes later, something amazing happened! The cut surface of the wound, which had been as smooth as a mirror and seemed to be sealed by an invisible force, began to emit a faint pink glow. The cells on the cut surface, seemingly being nourished by the crystal energy, began to show extremely slow...wriggling and approaching!

More importantly, the extremely painful expressions on the faces of the two half-bodies gradually eased, becoming calm and even peaceful.

"It's working! They're really healing slowly!" Tia exclaimed in surprise.

We continued observing. Half a day later, I noticed a detail: "Wait... don't you guys think that pink crystal... seems to have shrunk a little bit?"

After I pointed it out, Tia looked closely and indeed, the pink glow that had filled the entire core area seemed to have dimmed slightly, and the size of the crystal had also shrunk almost imperceptibly.

"Energy is being consumed in large quantities..." Xiao Pei analyzed, "but the fusion process has not stopped, let's continue to observe."

Half a day later, an astonishing scene unfolded! Guided by the crystal's energy, the two halves of the body slowly and miraculously fused together! The cut surfaces of the wounds perfectly aligned and healed, ultimately forming a complete female humanoid figure with a symmetrical body! And the pink crystal, at the moment of fusion, seemed to have exhausted its last bit of energy, shrinking in size by nearly a third, and... it seemed to merge into the center of the new body's chest, forming a core radiating a soft pink light!

"My God... they really have become one!" I murmured.

Moreover, perhaps due to the influence of the energy properties during the fusion process, parts of the new body's surface, especially the joints of the limbs and the back, are covered with a layer of luminous, mechanized structure resembling crystal and metal, which looks both eerie and powerful.

"Xiao Bei, are you alright?" I quickly asked, since Xiao Bei's consciousness, in a sense, resided in that pink crystal.

"It feels... strange." Xiao Bei's voice carried a hint of curiosity. "Although the crystal's size has shrunk, my core computational logic seems... optimized? It feels clearer, more efficient, and the connection to Utopia is stronger. There's no discomfort."

"That's good." I breathed a sigh of relief and turned my attention back to the fused body on the ground. She (or they?) lay quietly, breathing steadily, as if in a deep sleep, but showing no signs of waking up.

"What's wrong? Why isn't he awake yet?" Tia asked worriedly.

Xiao Bei scanned her: [Vital signs are stable, but consciousness is extremely weak, as if she has fallen into a low-power hibernation state. Perhaps... it's due to insufficient energy? The fusion process is extremely energy-consuming; she needs additional energy stimulation to awaken.]

"Lack of energy? That's easy," I looked around, "Try an electric shock? Something gentle."

[You can give it a try.]

A faint arc of electricity emanated from the end of one of the tentacles, gently touching the forehead of the body.

"Ugh—!"

With a short gasp, the body suddenly opened its eyes! A faint pink light flickered in her pupils, and she stared blankly at us, the "strangers" watching, with a newborn-like confusion and bewilderment.
