Deep Sea Starship Apocalypse

Chapter 29 The Jade Slip is Sealed, Hope Fades

Inside the secret chamber, starlight swirled, and warmth enveloped the boundless spiritual energy that flowed through his limbs and bones. Yu Moyan focused his mind and breath, his gaze sweeping over the dazzling array of secret jade tablets on both sides, finally settling on the jade tablet that floated quietly beside the jade platform.

The bamboo slip was carved entirely from warm, spiritual jade, its surface translucent and white. Inside, it was sealed with flowing cyan-gold star patterns, the patterns intertwined and entwined, faintly forming the original Dao rhythm of the Great Dao of the Avatar. Without even looking closely, one could tell that this was the core treasure that carried the complete secret technique of the Avatar.

Yu Moyan's heart skipped a beat. He subconsciously released Jiang Duyue's hand and slowly walked towards the jade platform. He slightly raised his fingertips, wanting to use his own star essence to touch the jade slip. Hope surged in his emerald eyes. As long as he could refine this jade slip and learn the complete clone technique, he could differentiate his star soul, condense a clone, resist the ultimate evil spirit that surpassed all heavens outside the hall, protect all living beings, and protect those around him.

Just as his fingertips were about to touch the spiritual light of the jade slip, an invisible barrier as thick as a mountain suddenly exploded.

hum-

The stellar energy within the entire secret chamber suddenly stagnated, the cyan-gold patterns on the jade slip instantly solidified, and a layer of hazy gray sealing chains emerged from the void, wrapping around the jade slip and firmly imprisoning it on the jade platform. A cold and majestic aura swept over, directly crashing into Yu Moyan's consciousness without any mercy.

"Bloodline not fully awakened, soul seal not established, inheritance binding incomplete, authority insufficient, restrictions forever unbreakable."

The cold, icy Daoist voice echoed in my mind, each word like an icicle piercing my heart.

Yu Moyan's body swayed violently, staggering back half a step. The bright hope in his eyes froze instantly, fading away bit by bit. He gritted his teeth and activated his star essence again. Azure starlight surged from his body, transforming into streams of light that rushed towards the seal, attempting to forcefully break through the shackles.

But that ancient restriction was as solid as an ancient rock. When his star essence collided with it, it didn't even cause a ripple. Instead, it backfired, making his chest feel tight, his throat feel a metallic taste, and his star essence sea feel a dull ache.

Jiang Duyue immediately stepped forward to support him. The starlight of the Zhouxiao Star Remains Armor slowly flowed into his body, stabilizing his turbulent breathing. Her brows furrowed, she said, "Moyan, don't push yourself. This is an ancient inheritance of the original restriction, which cannot be broken by brute force."

Yu Moyan stared blankly at the jade slip tightly bound by chains, looking at the way to break the deadlock that was so close yet ultimately unattainable. The light that had just ignited in his heart was gradually swallowed up by the cold despair.

He knew he possessed exceptional talent, inherited the legacy of the Emperor, and had unparalleled power of the Star Crown among his peers. Yet, before this ancient restriction, he was still as insignificant as an ant. Without a complete bloodline and an incomplete seal, he would never be able to break free of these shackles, obtain the secret technique for creating an avatar, let alone fight against the evil forces of the end times.

All the previous determination, perseverance, and resolute vows made with the Star Essence Divine Soul have now become utterly futile.

The evil winds outside the palace still howled, and the roars of the evil creatures faintly echoed through the layers of palaces, as if mercilessly mocking their delusions. The secret chamber was still dazzling with light, and the star energy was still vast and boundless, but in Yu Moyan's eyes, all that remained was a cold desolation.

He slowly lowered his eyes, his emerald eyes completely shrouded in a dark, lifeless gray, and the starlight around him gradually faded away, as he was almost exhausted even of the strength to stand.

"It's no use...it's all useless in the end." He murmured softly, his voice so hoarse it was almost inaudible, filled with helplessness and sorrow.

Since the restrictions cannot be broken and the secret techniques cannot be obtained, staying in this inheritance hall is useless. No matter how many secret treasures there are, or how concentrated the star energy is, if that crucial shackle cannot be broken, they are nothing but a mirage.

Yu Moyan gently shook off Jiang Duyue's support, his expression desolate and devoid of any spirit. He turned and stepped out of the secret chamber, descending the rune-stairs. He came with hope, but left with despair. The emperor's gentle light fell upon him, but it could not warm the bone-chilling cold in his heart.

The two silently left the Chenjin Palace. Outside, yellow sand still swirled in the air, crows cawed incessantly, and a murky, gray-yellow fog shrouded the surrounding area, creating a deathly atmosphere. Yu Moyan did not seek any more places of inheritance, nor did he have the mind to ponder countermeasures. He simply wandered aimlessly, letting his footsteps carry him on his journey.

The wind whipped up sand that rustled against my clothes. Along the way were broken ancient steles and collapsed mountains. There was no sign of life in the world, only a depressing silence that enveloped the entire land.

I don't know how long I wandered aimlessly, but the surrounding scenery gradually became familiar.

When Yu Moyan stopped walking, she looked up and her heart sank again.

It turned out to be the ancient city they had passed through before.

The once prosperous city is now utterly ruined. Towering city walls have collapsed in half, withered weeds grow among the broken walls, and shattered bricks and discarded objects litter the streets, untouched and abandoned. The wind and sand sweep through the empty streets, stirring up dust and emitting a mournful, wailing sound, like the sobbing of departed souls.

The entire city was deathly silent, devoid of any sign of human life or the cries of any living creature. Only an oppressive aura of death hung heavy over every inch of the land. The crumbling walls were stained with dried, dark brown bloodstains, a testament to the desolation and ruin left by the calamity.

Yu Moyan stood quietly on the broken stone at the city entrance, his robes fluttering slightly in the bleak wind. He gazed at the devastated ruins and the desolate streets, his emerald eyes empty, devoid of any emotion or light.

There are no secret methods to follow ahead, behind us lies the ruin of countless lives, and before us lies a desolate and lifeless wasteland.

A fierce wind swept past him, carrying yellow sand. The world was desolate and barren. He stood alone before the desolate ruins of the ancient city, motionless, letting boundless despair quietly permeate his body and mind.
