Words Strategize for the World

Chapter 53 A Deadly Intent Revealed

On the official road leading to Taoshan County, a young man dressed in a white battle robe sat by the roadside.

Behind him lay six corpses, each with a knife stuck in it, their bodies slashed and bloodied, a gruesome sight.

The wind blew by, carrying the stench of blood far and wide.

The wounds on the corpse were all inflicted by Fang Wei. He didn't want to do it this way, but he had no tools or materials and couldn't make any other arrangements. After thinking for a long time, he did this to provoke Han Jiang.

Being alone and lacking in ability, this was a last resort. Provoking the other party might bring about a fatal disaster, but it could also lead to a turning point.

Now, all I'm relying on is an inner strength; though weak, I'm fearless.

If only I were at the Earth-level right now. Earth-level attacks are invisible and fast, making them impossible for most people to defend against. Also, with 64 controllable characters, the attack options would become much more diverse.

But that's just a hypothetical situation; there are no hypothetical outcomes in the world.

Meanwhile, after waiting for Fang Wei to return for a long time without success, Han Jiang knew that something must have happened. So he mustered 200 soldiers and pursued him along the official road of Taoshan County.

Han Jiang, accompanied by several commanders, pursued on horseback, while 200 soldiers followed on foot.

The distance wasn't far, and before long Han Jiang saw Fang Wei, dressed in white, sitting by the roadside.

When he got closer and saw the corpse behind Fang Wei, he was instantly filled with rage.

Han Jiang was furious, but looking at Fang Wei sitting calmly on the ground, his anger subsided and he calmed down.

"Fang Wei, did you do this?"

Han Jiang's tone was icy, like the frost of winter.

Fang Wei's purpose was to provoke the other party, so he didn't reply immediately. Instead, he slowly stood up, patted his backside, and then looked at Han Jiang.

Being treated with such contempt, Han Jiang, as a captain, was extremely angry.

One of the commanders, unable to tolerate Fang Wei's behavior any longer, shouted, "Fang Wei, do you want to die? The captain is asking you a question, and you dare not answer? Are you showing contempt for your superior?"

Seeing the other person's expression and hearing their furious words, Fang Wei felt a surge of satisfaction.

He had never done anything so pretentious before, and he never imagined that it would be so enjoyable to do something like that.

Fang Wei decided that he must show off more often from now on. Life is already hard enough, why suppress it? Show off when it's time to show off, entertaining others is not as good as making yourself happy.

Thinking about the movies and TV shows he had watched in another world, Fang Wei knew how to keep up the act.

Under the watchful eyes of the captain and commander, Fang Wei raised his right little finger and flicked his nail. Then, he put his little finger inside his ear, carefully tapped it, and said, "What did you say? I didn't hear you clearly. Could you speak louder?"

Holy crap, I'm furious.

Han Jiang and several other commanders had never been treated like this before; it was a blatant insult and contempt.

A hot-tempered commander behind Han Jiang exploded.

"Fang Wei, you have some nerve. I'll chop your head off and use it as a football. Giddy up..."

After the commander finished speaking, he rode his horse around the Han River and charged towards Fang Weichong.

Upon seeing the other party make a move, Fang Wei appeared relaxed on the surface but was inwardly wary.

He brought two fingers together and quickly wrote the character "防" (fang, meaning defense) in seal script. The character was complete, but the opponent hadn't even reached him yet. Fang Wei didn't stop; he continued writing the character "龙" (long, meaning dragon) in seal script.

To give the other party a sense of urgency, the character for "dragon" is written in seal script, which is slow but powerful.

When the commander approached and attacked Fang Wei, the first strike was blocked by the character "防".

Just as the commander raised his sword to prepare for a second strike, the character "dragon" written by Fang Wei was completed.

In the commander's eyes, the other party wrote some unknown character, which, after a flash of golden light, transformed into a monster that resembled a snake but was not quite a snake, and charged towards him.

Unable to dodge in time, the commander slashed at the golden dragon with his sword.

Those around heard a loud "bang," and then saw the commander being knocked off his horse and fall to the ground.

The sword cleaved the golden dragon, and although the commander fell from his horse, he was unharmed. He then rose and continued his attack on Fang Wei.

This time, Fang Wei wrote three dragons in seal script and cursive script, which attacked the commander. The golden dragons attacked the commander for three days, and only then did he begin to write the character for dragon in seal script.

The commander was also brave, and used his sword to split the golden dragon apart.

Having already cleaved three golden dragons, each twice as powerful, while still on horseback, his strength was nearly exhausted. Just as the familiar seal script characters for "dragon" reached him, he was struck down by one of the golden dragons and fell to the ground, motionless.

The exchange was brief, lasting only about ten breaths, but it was fraught with danger at every turn.

Fang Wei guessed that the opponent was probably only at the Law level, at most one or two levels higher than himself. After careful calculation, the opponent didn't even have a second chance to get close.

Han Jiang was somewhat surprised to see his subordinate commander being taken down and seemingly dead by Fang Wei in just a few moves.

He knew Fang Wei was at the first level of the Law Realm, but his subordinate was at the third level. In their fight, his subordinate didn't even have a chance to get close again.

Han Jiang gritted his teeth and said, "Fine, very well. I admit I underestimated you. Fang Wei, I will kill you today. Want to know why?"

At this moment, Han Jiang's anger had reached its peak, and he needed to vent it.

He did have some appreciation for Fang Wei's talent. Otherwise, why would he have tried to win Fang Wei over?

If he hadn't been planning to join the Hegemon Kingdom, he wouldn't have been monitoring Fang Wei, and none of this would have happened. But now he had no way out; if Fang Wei blocked his path, then killing him was the only option.

However, what Han Jiang didn't know was that Fang Wei had already discovered his plan to defect to the enemy through some clues and eavesdropping. If Han Jiang had known, he would have killed him long ago, and wouldn't have kept him alive until now.

"Captain Han, we are all soldiers of the Chi Kingdom, and we should not be facing each other with swords drawn. Of course, I want to know why things have come to this."

Fang Wei's current goal is to buy time. He doesn't know if Han Jiang will kill him. But if he were Han Jiang, he would definitely kill him.

"Hahaha... Hmph, you're quite honest. Although you're a refined scholar, and I do appreciate your talent, I simply want you dead today."

The real reason they want to kill me is probably because it's hindering your enlistment in the army. Fang Wei naturally knew the reason.

The intention was to provoke Han Jiang and make him lose his temper in order to buy time, but unexpectedly, while he did provoke him, he didn't seem to have managed to buy time.

"Captain Han, you know I am a refined scholar. If you kill me, you won't get away with it either."

"Haha, you don't need to know that. Prepare to die."

"Wait, don't you want to know why I killed those six people?"

Seeing Han Jiang draw his weapon, Fang Wei quickly spoke.

"What does it matter if they know or not? They died because of their own incompetence. I will wash away their shame with your blood."

After Han Jiang finished speaking, he spurred his horse and charged towards Fang Wei, giving him no chance to speak again.

Facing Han Jiang, Fang Wei knew he was no match. So he immediately wrote the character "防" (defense), preparing to defend himself before looking for an opportunity.

The character for "defense" was quickly formed, but Han Jiang's captain's sword was already thrusting towards him.

With a crisp sound, the defense shattered.

Han Jiang swiftly raised his sword, leaving a gash on Fang Wei's body.

Fang Wei gritted his teeth and endured the pain, continuing to write the character "防" (fang). This time, he prepared to use seal script.

The seal script was written slowly; he had only finished half of it when Han Jiang turned his horse around and charged again. Han Jiang was a high-ranking martial artist, highly skilled. When he attacked again, his sword was aimed at Fang Wei's crown.

This sword strike was delivered from horseback, a powerful downward slash. If Fang Wei had continued writing without dodging, his brains would have been splattered.

Fang Wei had no choice but to evade; he was willing to risk his life.

He ducked and rolled on the ground, narrowly avoiding a sword strike to the top of his head.

As Fang Wei stood up, a strand of hair fell from his head.

This sword strike terrified Fang Wei. If he hadn't dodged it quickly, he would have lost his head instead of a hair.
