Words Strategize for the World
Chapter 25 Cloud Movement and Weather
Even though Fang Wei longed for a prefecture-level city, he knew that it was still too far away, and the same was true for the military.
Looking at the "Cloud Movement and Weather Techniques" in his hand, Fang Wei began to think.
Now that I've figured out all my questions about the scholar, I should also read this extraordinary book. I hope I can cultivate myself so that I can increase my own resources and have more cards to play.
Turning to the first page of *The Art of Cloud Movement and Weather*, the text reads: Clouds are the qi of the earth, white in color. When dry and hot qi disperses into wind, it becomes black. Qi refers to cloud qi; all things possess qi. However, heaven has six qi, which give rise to the five flavors, manifest as the five colors, and are indicated by the five sounds. The six qi are yin, yang, wind, rain, darkness, and light… If one rides the true course of heaven and earth and governs the transformations of the six qi… combining the dark and yellow qi of heaven and earth, this constitutes the six qi…
This extraordinary book is indeed extraordinary; it begins entirely in classical Chinese. Fortunately, Fang Wei has a good foundation in classical Chinese, which is why he was able to read the entire book.
It wasn't until Fang Wei finished reading the entire book that he roughly understood its extraordinary significance.
The book "The Art of Cloud Movement and Weather" only discusses 10 words: wind, rain, water, fire, clouds, fog, snow, hail, thunder, and lightning. However, these 10 words have already transcended the level of power for scholars. Once mastered, they are found to be incredibly powerful.
Scholars are divided into five levels: Dao, Tian, Di, Jiang, and Fa. Except for the Dao level, each level has some restrictions. For example, the Fa level can only compose four characters, etc.
The meaning of words is limited, and so is human ability. Therefore, regardless of the level, the rhythm of fonts will have natural limitations.
A Dao-level expert can manipulate any text, but their control over the ten major meteorological texts—wind, fire, rain, water, clouds, fog, snow, hail, thunder, and lightning—is limited.
For example, the character "风" (wind).
Even the most powerful Dao-level experts cannot manipulate words to create hurricanes. If it's impossible for Dao-level experts, it's even more impossible for those below Dao-level.
To maximize the effectiveness of meteorological texts, one needs to master the art of cloud-based meteorology.
Especially for the Law level, the rhythmic text only has 4 characters, but the "Cloud Movement and Weather Technique" allows Law level scholars to cultivate two more characters: wind and rain.
It's amazing that I can cultivate two more words.
In this way, as long as I cultivate well, who at the Law level can be my opponent? Even at the General level, I can fight them with certainty.
This is absolutely awesome.
As long as you master this book and cultivate it well, no matter what kind of aristocratic family scion or powerful martial artist, they will all be defeated by you if they are of the same level.
Having finished reading the book, Fang Wei reread it to better understand the cultivation methods described within.
The cultivation method described in the book is unconventional. Normally, a refined scholar cultivates by first moving the text and then controlling it. However, this book teaches simultaneous movement and control. If one can control the text while moving the text, then cultivation is possible. Otherwise, it is impossible.
After understanding the instructions, Fang Wei began to cultivate according to the methods in the book.
Originally, entering the Law level no longer required writing on paper, but in order to better control the rhythm, Fang Wei found a brush, ink, paper and inkstone and started from scratch.
The user was already able to control four characters, and now they wanted to add rhythm to the game, increasing the number of characters they could control. The difficulty was considerable.
Fang Wei wrote the character "wind," but there was no reaction; he couldn't even feel the slightest rhythm.
I wrote it again. I wrote the character "风" (wind) six times, but there was no response.
What's going on? Is it possible that I can't cultivate either?
Is it because I haven't found the right method yet?
Fang Wei read through the book "The Art of Cloud Movement and Weather" again, but found nothing particularly interesting.
After thinking for a while, Fang Wei recalled his understanding of rhythm and control on the day he became a Law Master.
The speed of writing determines the rhythm of the movement, and the beauty of the handwriting determines the strength of control.
Since we've always used seal script and cursive seal script, why not try simplified cursive script, which allows for faster and more rhythmic writing?
I dipped my brush in ink and began to write.
Simplified Chinese is a very simple font, and it is also cursive script. Therefore, in the blink of an eye, a dragon and phoenix dance in the wind and writes on the paper.
As the last stroke of the character "风" (wind) was completed, Fang Wei indeed felt the rhythm of the character, which was very faint and negligible.
As expected, it worked, and Fang Wei was very happy. As long as one can feel the rhythm, one can definitely cultivate.
I continued writing and added three more simplified Chinese characters for "wind". Unexpectedly, each character had a rhythm, though still very faint, but undeniably rhythmic.
Under normal circumstances, as long as one can feel the rhythm, one will definitely be able to control words through gradual practice.
A feeling of excitement welled up inside me; it was wonderful, wonderful!
With the addition of two more words for control, the combat becomes more flexible and unpredictable.
For the entire afternoon, Fang Wei was constantly practicing his Feng (wind) character.
However, when it got dark, Fang Wei discovered that although the rhythm was there, it did not increase at all.
It seems that Fang Wei has mastered the rhythm of the "Cloud Movement and Weather Technique," while Qu Yashi and the others have been unable to cultivate it. The difference lies in the knowledge that Fang Wei possesses within Qu Yashi and the others.
After ten years of dedicated practice in calligraphy, I dare not claim to have reached the level of a master in every style, but I am proficient in quite a few. For a refined scholar, cultivating both literature and calligraphy is essential; understanding the content and information within each character is crucial.
What is wind? No one on the Yongping Continent understands it better than Fang Wei.
The influence of the teaching style in the schools of the past was formed very early on, something that people on the Yongping mainland did not understand.
Therefore, Fang Wei was able to cultivate the "Cloud Movement and Weather Technique" and produce a little bit of the "Cloud Movement and Weather Technique" rhythm. This was not luck, but it did not increase anything and was completely useless.
All night long, Fang Wei pondered why the rhythm was weak and not improving.
I can't wait to succeed in my cultivation and go on a killing spree!
The next day, early morning.
Fang Wei, filled with confusion and bewilderment all night, went to the training ground to practice calligraphy with Zhang Nianwei.
"Your handwriting is getting better and better," Fang Wei said, looking at Zhang Nianwei's handwriting.
Hearing Fang Wei's praise, Zhang Nianwei's eyes crinkled into crescent moons with laughter.
"Hehe, it's all thanks to your excellent teaching."
Fang Wei smiled and then asked, "Have you ever used this font for cultivation?"
"No, is there something wrong with the font?" Zhang Nianwei asked, somewhat puzzled.
"It's nothing." Fang Wei thought Zhang Nianwei already knew the secret, but he didn't expect that Zhang Nianwei had never tried it at all.
Seeing Fang Wei acting strangely but remaining silent, Zhang Nianwei changed the subject: "Today is a Yang day, where in the prefectural city are you planning to go?"
For Fang Wei, there was only one answer to this question: I don't know.
"I don't know where to go. I only visited the prefectural city once with you last time."
Speaking of the last time, Zhang Nianwei remembered Fang Wei pulling her hand and running away, and a silly smile appeared on her face.
"What are you laughing at?" Fang Wei asked, puzzled.
"It's nothing," Zhang Nianwei said, feeling embarrassed.
After a moment of silence, Zhang Nianwei said, "Let's go boating on the Yuntao River in the prefectural city."
Fang Wei had no idea where Yuntao River was, but he didn't know where else to go, so he could only nod.
Zhang Nianwei had wanted to go boating on the Yuntao River for a long time, but she had no one to go with. Seeing Fang Wei nod somewhat reluctantly, Zhang Nianwei quickly introduced the Yuntao River.
After Zhang Nianwei's explanation, although Fang Wei still didn't understand where the Yuntao River was, he learned its purpose.
To put it bluntly: Yuntao River is where the young masters of the prefectural city pick up girls.
Upon learning this, Fang Wei immediately lost interest in Yun Taohe. He'd rather spend that time cultivating at the academy.
It's not that Fang Wei doesn't understand girls' feelings, it's just that he has always had a sense of crisis.
The situation in the Hegemon Kingdom always caused some worry, and Fang Wei wasn't sure if he was being overly anxious. But given his current lack of ability to protect himself, Fang Wei preferred to spend his time cultivating.
However, considering that he had already agreed, he couldn't go back on his word now, so Fang Wei had no choice but to go to Yuntao River.
Fang Wei thought to himself, "I hope we don't encounter any setbacks."
