Curse Returns: What did the human-shaped wishing machine do wrong this time?
Chapter 42 Business
The so-called six eyes are the eyes of Sugawara no Satoru, who fought against Rime back then.
From the Heian period to the present, such eyes appear only once every few hundred years. More than a decade ago, this generation of six-eyed beings was born into the Gojo family after the dissolution of the Sugawara clan.
The arrival of Gojo Satoru completely shattered the balance between sorcerers, curse masters, and cursed spirits.
Modern society is nothing like the golden age of magic during the Heian period. There are very few people who have even developed their own domains. Compared to Rōsō, Rime is not particularly interested in the Six-Eyed, but he knows that the Six-Eyed can see through Nanika's existence. Thinking about the current state of the people in the Magic Supervision Department, the curse master Rime couldn't help but frown.
"Rime, how about we go to Tokyo this weekend?"
Rime was making baby food in the kitchen when Itadori Yasuke, dressed in casual clothes, walked over with his hands behind his back.
Rime's words that day left some mark on Itadori Yasuke's heart.
He carefully observed his grandsons.
Yuujin is healthy and lively, while Alluka is quieter. He's usually fine, except that he occasionally asks them for simple requests like kisses and hugs. If they grant his request, Alluka's features turn black. After he makes a simple wish, he turns back to normal.
Yujin said that was their younger sister.
After hearing Yujin's childish words, Yamasuke Itadori became even more worried. He strongly suspected that Kaori was carrying triplets when she was pregnant, but because Kaori died and came back to life, the child was not born, so the child's soul was parasitized in Alluka's body.
Unaware of the world of sorcery, Itadori Yabusuke attributed all the strange occurrences to gods and demons.
After thinking it over, he decided that he should take the children to shrines and temples to see the masters.
Their temples in Sendai were not as famous as those in Tokyo, nor were they as popular with worshippers. Itadori Yasusuke wanted to resolve this matter while his child was still young.
Why go to Tokyo?
Li Mei paused in her act of peeling shrimp and quickly put the shrimp down.
Just as Ryosaku reminded them not to leave Sendai, this old man wanted to go to Tokyo, where Gojo Satoru's Jujutsu High School was located. Wouldn't going there be like walking into a trap?
"The children are growing up, and I want to pray for their well-being."
Itadori Yasuke sighed, glancing at Rimei's monk's robes, and swallowed his words about wanting to go to the shrine.
In his opinion, Kaori's cousin, Rimei, was a very strange person.
She's a woman with an Adam's apple, and she wears a monk's robe of unknown origin every day, acting like a fake monk. She's clearly disrespectful to gods and Buddhas. If he wanted to find a master to exorcise evil spirits from his child, Rimei would definitely not agree.
"You don't need to go that far to pray for blessings, right? You can just find any shrine in Sendai."
Rime frowned slightly and rejected Itadori Yasuke's suggestion.
"Oh well."
After thinking for a moment, Watanabe Yasuke agreed.
You can go to the nearby area first, and if the problem isn't solved, going to Tokyo later won't be a problem.
Seeing that she had persuaded Itadori Yasuke to stop, Rime's eyes flickered slightly and she said nothing more.
Over the weekend, Rime completely disregarded Itadori Yasuke's worries and found the nearest shrine to her home, a place that could be reached in just over ten minutes by car.
Rime didn't quite understand why Japan was going to build these strange shrines. In his opinion, it would be more practical to worship Lord Sukuna. However, most shrines these days were already very commercialized, so it didn't matter if he treated this as a regular outing.
The shrine I randomly picked was very small and lacked the bustling atmosphere of tourist attractions like Senso-ji Temple in Tokyo.
After passing through the lacquered red torii gate and the zigzag white shimenawa rope, Itadori Yamasuke devoutly asked for two amulets made of gold bells wrapped with gold, red and blue embroidery threads. He then tied the amulets to the hem of Alluka's clothes.
The black-haired child played with the bell on the way back, and the clear sound of the bell rang in the wind was very pleasant. In contrast, Rimei looked around warily.
"Xiaomei, what's wrong?"
Alluka tilted her head and looked curiously at Rime, whose muscles were taut in her hands.
Rime was always very relaxed at home, and Alluka had never seen him look so tense.
"It's alright, Alluka. You and Hisahito wait here for me for a bit, I'll be right back."
Rime bent down and gently patted Alluka's head, then strode quickly toward the subway station ahead, leaving Alluka looking puzzled.
They didn't take the same route on their way here and back. Rime had just sensed a brief fluctuation of magical energy ahead. He didn't know if it was a cursed spirit or a sorcerer, but to be on the safe side, he decided to investigate first.
"Where did Aunt Xiaomei go?"
Having had his fill of playing with the golden bell, Hisahito Itadori curiously tugged at Alluka's sleeve.
"I don't know! Grandpa, can we go take a look?"
Alluka tilted her head back and asked hesitantly.
He was actually a little worried about Xiaomei.
"Let's go take a look."
Yasuke Itadori always remembered Rime's words that he shouldn't refuse Alluka. He didn't know what the consequences would be if he refused the child, but it was related to his granddaughter who had died young. He felt that it would be good if he could fulfill his granddaughter's wish and let her leave as she wished.
The three people, one adult and two children, descended the steps. Unlike the bustling crowd they had just seen on the ground, a ripple appeared around them as they came down. The ripple was so subtle that it was easily overlooked if one did not observe carefully.
Alluka looked around with some confusion, but ignored the strangeness as Hisahito called out to her.
The subway station is located in a somewhat remote area, and there aren't many people inside.
The three of them followed Rimei down, but they didn't see the white figure.
"Work is so tiring, it's nice to get out and relax on the weekend..."
"Yes, the suburbs are really nice..."
The passersby were discussing the beautiful scenery they had just seen. Alluka stood obediently at the ticket booth, while Yuujin pointed to the vending machine and said he wanted to drink a beverage from it.
Everything seemed normal when suddenly a violent explosion occurred not far ahead, sending flames shooting into the sky and turning the area crimson.
"Ah! Quick, put out the fire!"
"Help!!"
Several passersby rushed over with fire extinguishers, while others turned and ran towards the outside of the station. Itadori Yasuke quickly hugged the two children in his arms.
Two passersby who intended to put out the fire turned back halfway through their journey.
Following their gaze, one could see a man lying at the epicenter of the explosion, his fate unknown. Beside him, Rime wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and stood up.
A man wearing a black vest and white joggers stood there with the firelight behind him.
"Why are they trying to steal our business?"
He took a few steps forward with the knife on his back, and in the instant he looked up, his half-closed, eerie green eyes gazed down in the direction of Rimei.
