Entertainment Era: Starting with Teaching Sister Meng to Sing
Chapter 26: Are we making a movie here?
After returning to the county town that day, Wang Xiaozhou did not ask Meng Ziyi to practice singing, nor did he go to stay overnight with Huang Mao and the others. Instead, he went back to his dormitory and quietly spaced out.
Wang Xiaozhou never asked the old man's name until he left the village.
He didn't know if it was right to reveal the death compensation to the old man in person, but he was now certain that for the sake of the ten-year-old child and his seventy- or eighty-year-old parents, the old man would definitely take a trip to the river when the excavator was working before his condition worsened.
It felt like he had just had a nightmare. When he woke up at around 4 a.m. the next day, Wang Xiaozhou's eyes were bright, and he jumped out of bed.
He was born into a life of hardship; he had terminal cancer that no one could cure. I'm helping him so that at least his parents and children can continue living after he's gone.
Five o'clock in the morning is almost the coldest time of day. Wang Xiaozhou shivered as soon as he stepped out of his dormitory.
The temperature was too high to walk, so I quickly hailed a taxi at the school gate and spent six yuan to get to the internet cafe.
When Wang Xiaozhou entered the internet cafe, these guys weren't even asleep yet. They took turns turning off all three computers.
The blond-haired man stood up abruptly, ready to make a move, his hand already raised. But when he saw that the person was Wang Xiaozhou, he quickly and smoothly scratched the back of his head: "Big brother, I thought it was someone else."
The third son turned around: "Why are you here so early? Haven't you gone to sleep yet?"
Wang Xiaozhou snorted: "Just woke up, let's take you to do your favorite thing."
"What's up?"
The blond-haired man didn't understand.
What's going on?
Of course it's the second most important physiological need for men, what a show-off!
Several men, wrapped in thick cotton-padded coats, emerged from the internet cafe, cigarettes dangling from their mouths, hands in their pockets. Every few steps they took, they would let out a hiss, their smoke and breath rising into the air like chimneys.
When they arrived at the gate of No. 2 Middle School, the security guard had just turned on the lights. The old security guard who had let Wang Xiaozhou in last time was still there. Wang Xiaozhou jogged a few steps, tapped on the window and handed in a cigarette, and then the group had a place to shelter from the wind.
Students rushed in for their morning reading session. The blond-haired man took a slurp from the old security guard's large tea mug, then asked Wang Xiaozhou:
"The group chat's been pretty quiet these past few days; nobody's gossiping about your sister-in-law. What are we doing here?"
Wang Xiaozhou squinted at the crowd and said, "Words aren't just empty words. Every beginning has an end. Half a month ago, we came here to prevent Meng Ziyi from hearing gossip. Today, we're here to get some people to say something to Meng Ziyi."
Upon hearing this, the third brother clenched his fist tightly: "That was a really cool performance!"
At 7:15, Meng Ziyi appeared at the school gate, and Wang Xiaozhou immediately came out of the guardhouse to greet her.
Meng Ziyi was taken aback when she saw Wang Xiaozhou: "What are you doing here?"
After a moment of reaction, she asked, somewhat bewildered, "Someone else is spreading rumors about me? No way, who did I offend?"
Wang Xiaozhou smiled and shook his head: "No, I'll just send you to school."
He waved to the guardhouse, and Huang Mao and his gang immediately ran out.
"Let's go."
This time, the group chatted quite well with the old security guard at the gate, and no one stopped them from entering the school. They then protected Meng Ziyi in front of them and walked all the way to the entrance of the teaching building under the questioning gazes of others.
"I'm here to cancel my leave; I need to go to the office building."
Meng Ziyi reminded him in a low voice.
Wang Xiaozhou pulled her to a stop at the entrance of the teaching building: "No rush, let's wait here for a while."
As he spoke, Wang Xiaozhou's eyes searched through the crowd, found a familiar face, and waved to it.
The man was still a little doubtful and pointed to himself with disbelief.
Wang Xiaozhou nodded, and only after everyone had come to him did he speak to the third brother, saying, "Nian."
The third student took out his phone in front of everyone and read aloud: "Liu Xiaoqing from No. 2 Middle School, online name 'Dried Up Sorrow,' is the third person in the No. 2 Middle School's 'Xiuxiu' group to spread rumors about Meng Ziyi, according to the timeline. Do you have anything to say?"
Liu Xiaoqing stiffened his neck: "The others too..."
The blond-haired man took two steps forward and reached into his robes.
Liu Xiaoqing quickly changed her tune: "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have spread rumors. I was just watching everyone talking about it."
"Have you wronged me?!"
The third brother shouted, and Liu Xiaoqing was startled. She immediately turned around and bowed to Meng Ziyi, saying, "I'm sorry, I was wrong, Sister Meng."
"roll!"
After Liu Xiaoqing left, Wang Xiaozhou continued searching through the crowd and soon spotted his second target, waving to him.
This time, without the third brother speaking, the person walked directly to Meng Ziyi and bowed at a ninety-degree angle: "I'm sorry, Sister Meng, I was wrong."
Wang Xiaozhou waved again, and this time three people came in a row. They lined up in front of Meng Ziyi and bowed in turn to admit their mistakes.
The students who entered the school later, upon seeing Wang Xiaozhou and his group, along with Meng Ziyi, immediately understood why the people in front had apologized.
Seeing the fierce look on Huang Mao's face and then at Wang Xiaozhou's treacherous smile, everyone decided to stop waiting for people to call them and go straight to line up in front of Meng Ziyi.
As a result, a scene rarely seen even in Hong Kong movies appeared at the entrance of the teaching building of Wangping No. 2 Middle School. Hundreds of students who came to school did not go to the teaching building for class immediately, but lined up in front of a girl, just so that they could bow respectfully and apologize later.
"So handsome! To have a boyfriend who stands up for me like this, I'd die happy if I could."
Some young girls were so impressed by this scene that they started imagining scenes from idol dramas.
Meng Ziyi, standing at the front of the crowd, was now digging her toes into the ground, feeling rather embarrassed. What kind of plot is unfolding here?
"I had already made it into the entertainment industry, but suddenly I became the female boss of the county town".
But thinking about the grievances I suffered before, this scene now is actually quite satisfying.
Having someone powerful back you up is much happier than secretly suffering in silence when you were all alone.
As Wang Xiaozhou watched the system's favorability rating quietly increase, he felt a little embarrassed.
His purpose in coming here was to target a few key figures, make them apologize to Meng Ziyi, and gain some goodwill in return for this incident.
Whether out of guilt or intimidation by his reputation, everyone involved in the discussion spontaneously came to line up and admit their mistakes. He hadn't expected this outcome!
The scene was still too big, and some teachers in the teaching building couldn't stand it anymore, so they secretly notified the dean of students.
A bald, muscular headmaster jogged in, and gasped when he saw Wang Xiaozhou:
"It's you again. Didn't you say you wouldn't fight last time? What are you doing causing trouble at our school again?"
Wang Xiaozhou said with a forced smile, "We're not here to fight, we're here to demand an explanation."
"What explanation do you want? What has our school done to wrong you?!"
Wang Xiaozhou pointed to the crowd waiting in line to apologize: "Look, they did it spontaneously. So many people feel guilty. Just think how much I have suffered."
No one laid a hand on them, and no one caused any trouble. The head of student affairs couldn't handle the situation, so he simply waved to the crowd, "Disperse quickly and go back to your classrooms to study. What kind of behavior is it to stand in line and bow to people like this!"
The crowd stirred for a moment, and then... no one moved.
The head of the teaching department glared at Wang Xiaozhou.
Just like before, Wang Xiaozhou smiled and waved, and then with a "whoosh," the crowd surged toward the entrance of the teaching building.
"Director, my friend wants to come back to report for duty again, what do you think..."
The head of student affairs slapped his bald head and exclaimed, "Holy crap, are you making a movie with me?!"
