Train Survival: Can I get a treasure chest by touching my goddess?
Chapter 4 Danger! Impressive swordsmanship!
The car door opened.
A cold wind carrying the smell of rust rushed in, and Shen Wen was the first to step down the stairs.
The platform was more dilapidated than he had imagined.
The cement floor was covered with cracks, from which withered yellow weeds sprouted. The awning overhead was rusted through several large holes, through which grayish-white sunlight poured in.
In the distance, a gray, matchbox-shaped building sits forlornly in the wilderness.
There were no windows, only a double iron door, and dark brown marks left by rainwater on the walls.
Military factory.
Su Mu walked to his right, holding a long steel sword, the tip of which pointed diagonally at the ground, his gaze sweeping over every corner where danger might be lurking.
Her steps were light, and she landed almost silently, as if she had instinctively mastered a certain fighting stance.
Jiang Youchu huddled in the middle of the group, her earlier enthusiasm for carrying an RPG nowhere to be seen. Her eyes were wide open, staring intently at the building that was getting closer and closer.
Su Qingxuan walked at the back, glancing back every now and then at the way she had come.
"A slight good fortune doesn't mean there's no danger," she said softly, as if reminding everyone, and also as if convincing herself, "Good or bad fortune is a probability, not a guarantee."
Shen Wen nodded, without stopping.
Forty meters.
Thirty meters.
The iron gate drew closer, the rust on it clearly visible, and a deathly darkness emanated from the cracks.
Su Mu stopped and looked back at him.
Shen Wen gestured.
She took a deep breath, gripped the knife with both hands, probed the tip of the blade through the crack in the door, and exerted force with her shoulders and back.
"Gah—"
The rusted door hinges screeched as the door was pried open a crack. Su Mu kicked it open, and the iron door swung open with a bang.
Dust rushed towards us.
Shen Wen squinted and waited a few seconds before his vision cleared.
The factory interior appeared larger than the exterior. Rows of wooden crates were neatly stacked, stretching from the entrance into the back; a quick glance revealed at least twenty.
The boxes were marked with blurry numbers and labels, some of which were covered in dust and almost illegible.
There was no movement.
No sound.
Only dust particles floated slowly in the light.
Jiang Youchu swallowed, making a soft "gurgling" sound in her throat.
She subconsciously moved closer to Shen Wen, her fingers gripping the hem of his clothes.
Su Mu ignored her and walked straight to the nearest wooden crate. The lock on the crate was rusted shut. She swung her long sword and slammed it down with the back of the blade.
"Click!"
The locking spring broke.
She pried open the box lid with the tip of her knife.
There were four rifles lying inside, their bodies coated with a thick layer of grease, and their wooden stocks emitting a musty smell.
Jiang Youchu peeked out and the light screen automatically unfolded.
Madsen 47 (Wilderness Grade); Ammo Reserves: 0/5
Her face fell: "No bullets. Empty."
Su Mu didn't say anything, turned around and walked to the second box, smashing the lock open with another knife.
The third.
the fourth.
The fifth box was just pried open a crack—
A dark figure darted out from the gap between the boxes.
It moved with incredible speed, heading straight for Su Mu's nape.
"Be careful!"
Shen Wen had no time to think; his body had already moved.
He charged straight at it, his shoulder slamming into the dark figure, and the two of them fell to the ground, rolling twice.
A foul, fishy stench hit me.
A wolf-like creature pressed down on him, its fur grayish-black, its ribs clearly visible, its eyes sunken, yet fixed intently on his throat.
His mouth was wide open, and his yellowish-brown fangs were less than ten centimeters from his face.
Shen Wen gripped its neck tightly with both hands, his arms bulging with veins, but he couldn't stop the mouth from pressing down inch by inch.
"Shen Wen—!"
Su Mu's voice came from behind, sharp and distorted.
Immediately afterwards, a flash of cold light grazed past his ear—
"puff!"
Warm liquid splashed all over Shen Wen's face.
The wolfhound's head flew off, its body went limp, and it lay motionless on top of him.
Su Mu stood before him, holding the knife in both hands, her chest heaving violently, her eyes red as if about to bleed.
She stared intently at the dead dog, then looked at Shen Wen, her gaze sweeping from his face to his body, as if checking if he was injured.
"You bastard..." Her voice trembled, her fingers gripping the knife quivering, "You're asking for death..."
"Aww—"
Another dark figure lunged at them from the other side.
Su Mu didn't even turn his head; he spun around and slashed horizontally with his longsword—
The blade sliced into the wolfhound's waist and abdomen, cutting diagonally with almost no resistance.
The sharpness of the black iron-grade weapon far exceeded that of ordinary steel. The wolfhound was cut in two in mid-air, its internal organs spilling out all over the ground.
The body hit the ground, twitched twice, and then remained still.
The factory fell silent again.
Su Qingxuan quickly stepped forward, pulled Shen Wen from under the dog's carcass, and rapidly checked his face, shoulders, and chest: "Were you bitten? Does it hurt? Is there any bleeding?"
"N-nothing." Shen Wen wiped his face, his palm covered in sticky, warm dog blood. "I didn't get bitten, I just pressed on it."
Su Qingxuan carefully examined his neck and breathed a sigh of relief after confirming there were no wounds.
Su Mu walked over with a knife in her hand, stood in front of him, and looked him up and down.
His gaze finally settled on the bloodstains on the man's face. He swallowed, but said nothing.
Shen Wenchong grinned at her: "Your knife skills are quite accurate."
Su Mu pursed her lips into a thin line, and after a long while, turned her face away, her voice muffled: "Don't rush so fast next time."
Jiang Youchu finally peeked out from behind the box, her face deathly pale, but she still tried her best to remain calm.
She glanced at the dog carcass on the ground and suddenly froze.
"Wait... what is this...?"
She took two steps closer, and a semi-transparent light screen unfolded before her eyes.
【Wolf Blue (Rotten Wood Level)】
Status: Dead
[Can be broken down into: 10 wolf meat chunks, 2 animal bones, and 1 animal hide]
"It can be broken down!" Her eyes lit up. "This stuff can yield meat!"
Shen Wen got up from the ground, dusted himself off, and glanced at the two corpses: "Then let's move them back together."
He walked to the box that Su Mu had just cut open. Inside, neatly stacked, golden bullets gleamed with a coppery sheen in the dim light.
Jiang Youchu leaned closer, her eyes lighting up even more: "This box..."
"Four hundred bullets!"
"Four hundred for a box?" Shen Wen raised an eyebrow.
"Hmm, about the same size." Jiang Youchu rubbed her hands together. "What if the other boxes over there are also full of bullets..."
Before the words were finished, Su Mu's voice came from deep within the factory: "There are military-grade canned goods here!"
Shen Wen walked over quickly.
Su Mu stood in the innermost position.
At my feet was a pried-open wooden crate filled with tin cans, poorly packaged with blurry dates and numbers printed on them.
He frowned. "Food and guns together? That's not usually how it's arranged."
Jiang Youchu followed over, glanced at the guns, then at the canned goods, and naturally remarked, "These guns look like antiques; they probably weren't categorized that way back then."
Shen Wen thought for a moment and nodded: "That's true."
Su Qingxuan did not participate in the discussion; her gaze was fixed on something deeper.
In the innermost corner of the factory, three rusty iron barrels were placed side by side.
She walked over and knocked on the side of the bucket. The sound was dull, indicating that there was something inside.
"Youchu, come and see this."
