Huayu Entertainment: Starting with Exorcising Evil from a Film Queen

Chapter 39 Learning to Meow Like a Cat: I Was Here First!

This realization caused Yang Mi's mind to go blank for a moment.

Zhang Ze?

Who is the woman in that room?

The answer requires almost no thought.

These past few days on set, everyone in the crew has noticed how Tang Yan seems to want to stick to Zhang Ze all the time.

So, what's happening in the next room right now is Zhang Ze and Tang Yan...

Yang Mi felt an inexplicable fire surge from the bottom of her heart to the top of her head, making her feel uncomfortable all over.

Half an hour later, the storm in the room finally subsided.

Zhang Ze leaned against the headboard, looking at Tang Yan curled up beside him like a lazy kitten. A thin layer of sweat and a faint blush remained on her snow-white skin, and her face was full of a satisfied expression.

"We have no future."

Zhang Ze spoke, his voice clear in the quiet room, "You're the company's star performer, and they absolutely won't allow you to announce a relationship at this stage. I can't give you any guarantees. Will you regret it?"

He has to make things clear; that's his bottom line.

Tang Yan opened her eyes, turned to her side, and gently traced circles on his firm chest with her finger. She smiled, a smile devoid of any reluctance or grievance.

"I don't want your promises, nor do I want any future."

She said lazily, her voice hoarse from the aftermath, "I just want you to spend some time with me when you have time in the future. I don't care if you have other women, as long as you only have me in your heart and eyes when you're by my side, that's enough."

Her words left Zhang Ze speechless, unable to finish his prepared response.

Tang Yan looked up at his surprised expression and continued, "I've been in this industry for several years now, and I've seen plenty of 'film crew couples,' haven't I? Some of them are even big names in the industry. It's common for them to change partners with each film. You don't need to feel guilty."

She paused, her eyes becoming exceptionally serious.

"Besides, I'm only with you because I genuinely like you. It has nothing to do with you saving me, or anything else. Since I like you, I'll do what I want to do; nothing else matters."

After speaking, she seemed to have regained some strength, propped herself up, and looked down at him again.

Her light pink silk pajamas were crumpled beyond recognition, hanging loosely on her body, revealing more of her figure with each movement.

Before Zhang Ze could react, she had already covered him again.

Soon, the intermittent, deliberately suppressed meows of a cat echoed through the room again.

"It's starting again!"

In the next room, Yang Mi irritably covered her ears with a pillow.

But the voice seemed to penetrate all obstacles, persistently drilling into her mind.

She threw off her pillow and tossed and turned in bed, feeling uncomfortable no matter how she lay down.

The time that followed felt incredibly long to her.

She was completely wide awake, her mind a jumbled mess, one moment Tang Yan's blushing face, the next Zhang Ze's indifferent face.

I don't know if it was an hour or longer, but the noise from next door finally disappeared completely.

The world returned to silence.

But Yang Mi's heart couldn't settle down.

She strained her ears, listening to the sounds coming from next door.

Not long after, she clearly heard the sound of the door being gently opened.

Yang Mi immediately jumped out of bed, barefoot, and tiptoed to her bedroom door. She carefully opened the door a tiny crack and peered outside.

The motion-sensor lights in the corridor were on, casting a dim, yellowish glow.

In just one glance, she saw that familiar figure.

Tang Yan was coming out of Zhang Ze's room, still wearing that light pink nightgown. She hurriedly tidied her disheveled clothes and hair, then quickly walked back to her own room and closed the door.

Although it was just a fleeting glimpse, Yang Mi clearly saw the blush that had not yet completely faded on Tang Yan's face, as well as the spring-like feeling that could not be hidden in her eyebrows and eyes.

Yang Mi closed the door, leaned against it, and clenched her teeth tightly.

"shameless!"

She squeezed out those three words through clenched teeth, her voice so low that only she could hear them.

Anger surged within her chest. She first cursed Tang Yan in her mind, then focused all her anger on Zhang Ze.

What a scumbag!

Unfaithful man!

Just a few days ago he was laughing and joking with me, and now he's sleeping with another woman!

She paced back and forth in the room, finally slumping down on the sofa.

Her mind began to replay uncontrollably all the scenes of her time with Zhang Ze.

From the first time in the small restaurant, when he mercilessly pointed out the shortcomings of my acting, to later patiently explaining the scene to me; from when he saved Tang Yan and I anxiously treated his wounds, to when we were on a plane together and he leaned on my shoulder and fell asleep peacefully...

Those moments that once felt sweet and special to her have now turned into thorns, making her heart ache.

A huge wave of grievance welled up inside her. She hugged her knees, buried her face in them, and murmured to herself in a voice only she could hear.

"I was here first..."

The next day, when Zhang Ze saw Yang Mi again, he keenly noticed a change.

The way this girl was looking at me was strange.

It was no longer the playful banter filled with curiosity and intimacy that came before, but rather a kind of fierce yet resentful arrogance, as if he owed her eight million and hadn't paid it back.

When the crew had their meal break, the group of people habitually gathered at that small restaurant again.

As soon as Zhang Ze sat down, he felt the gaze directed at him from the other side almost poking holes in him.

Yang Mi held her chopsticks and poked at the rice in the bowl with force, her teeth clenched, which puzzled Zhang Ze.

He even had the illusion that she wasn't poking rice, but his own face.

And he didn't know if it was just his imagination, but he felt that Yang Mi, who was puffed up with anger today, seemed to have a fuller chest, with an unusually striking curve.

"What's wrong? Who upset you?" Zhang Ze couldn't help but ask.

"It's nothing," Yang Mi replied sullenly, avoiding his gaze.

But while she said it was nothing, her actions became even more ferocious, the chopsticks piercing the bottom of the bowl with a crisp sound, as if she wanted to stab the bowl of white rice to death.

In stark contrast to Yang Mi's low spirits was Tang Yan.

On set, Tang Yan's behavior immediately returned to normal. She no longer clung to Zhang Ze as she had a few days ago, and she handed over the tasks of serving him soup and changing his dressings to her assistant.

She maintained a normal working relationship with Zhang Ze, and there was nothing wrong with her words and actions.

But a closer look reveals that it is only the surface.

Whenever they were alone, her eyes would gleam with an indescribable light when she looked at Zhang Ze—a tacit understanding and tenderness that only comes from the closest of relationships.

That look in his eyes seemed to melt him completely.
