Douluo Continent: Reborn Tang Hao, the strongest dad carries a sound system
Chapter 22 Tang 3 Xiao Wu
The next day at noon, Tang San had finished lunch and was walking back to his dormitory when he suddenly felt a familiar fluctuation of soul power.
He paused, glancing towards the direction of the academy's perimeter wall.
That was my father's scent.
Tang San kept quiet and continued walking forward as if nothing had happened.
After turning past the teaching building and making sure no one was around, he quickened his pace, climbed over the wall, and came to a small alley outside the college.
Tang Hao leaned against the wall at the alley entrance, arms crossed, looking at him.
"Dad," Tang San ran over with a smile, "What brings you here?"
"Just came to see you." Tang Hao looked him up and down. "How's school?"
"It's great," Tang San said. "The courses are easy, and I've read quite a few books. That master came to me, wanting to take me as his apprentice, but I refused."
"I know," Tang Hao nodded. "You did a great job."
Tang San was somewhat surprised: "Dad, how did you know?"
Tang Hao did not answer the question, but changed the subject.
"San'er, do you know a girl named Xiao Wu?"
Tang San was taken aback for a moment: "I know her. She lives on the third floor, the same floor as me. What's wrong?"
"How's your relationship?"
"So-so. We greet each other when we meet, but we don't really talk." Tang San was a little confused. "Dad, why are you asking this?"
Tang Hao remained silent for a moment, then squatted down to be at eye level with Tang San.
"San'er, there's something I want to tell you."
Tang San listened attentively.
"That girl named Xiao Wu has an unusual background."
Tang Hao's tone was calm. "I can't tell you her exact identity right now, but she's in a dangerous situation. If her true identity is discovered, many people will want to capture and kill her."
Tang San frowned.
"Just like...Mom did back then?"
Tang Hao's pupils contracted slightly.
He didn't expect Tang San to say those words.
The child's sensitivity far exceeded his expectations.
"Yes." Tang Hao's voice was a little hoarse. "Just like your mother."
Tang San fell silent.
"What does Dad want me to do?"
"Be her friend." Tang Hao looked into his eyes. "A true friend. Gain her trust, and you trust her too. That way, if anything happens in the future, at least you can help her."
Tang San did not answer immediately, but was thinking.
"Dad," he looked up, "was she also...?"
"Don't ask now," Tang Hao interrupted him. "When you grow up, you'll know everything you need to know."
Tang San nodded and didn't ask any further questions.
"I understand, Dad. I'll try to spend more time with her."
Tang Hao reached out and ruffled his hair.
"San'er, remember one thing—be sincere when making friends. Not to take advantage of her, but to protect her in crucial moments. I don't want to see your mother's tragedy repeated."
Tang San nodded vigorously.
"I see."
Tang Hao stood up and patted the dust off his knees.
"Go back. Don't let anyone see you climbing over the wall."
Tang San smiled, turned around, climbed over the wall, and disappeared on the other side.
Tang Hao leaned against the wall, looking in the direction Tang San had left, a slight smile playing on his lips.
"This kid is starting to look like a pro."
.....
When Tang San returned to the dormitory, Ma Xiu was lying on the bed eating an apple.
"Where have you been? I didn't see you at lunchtime," Matthew asked, his words muffled.
"I just went for a walk," Tang San replied casually, then asked, "Matthew, do you know which class Xiao Wu is in?"
Matthew was taken aback: "Xiao Wu? You mean the one who went to the wrong dorm last time? She's in our class, you forgot? She sat in the last row on the first day of class."
Tang San recalled for a moment.
He spent most of his time in class absorbed in his books and didn't really pay attention to the students around him.
Who does she usually hang out with?
"It seems like she's all alone." Matthew thought for a moment. "She's pretty powerful. Her spirit is a rabbit, and her first spirit ring is a hundred years old. Someone in the class challenged her to a duel, and she kicked him to the ground with one kick. After that, no one dared to mess with her."
Tang San nodded and didn't ask any more questions.
The afternoon class was a combat practice session, which took place in the training ground next to the playground.
The combat training for lower grades is very simple; it involves practicing basic punches, kicks, and dodging techniques.
The teacher was a man in his thirties, a fourth-ring Soul Master, considered a master in Notting City.
"Today, practice in pairs." The teacher clapped his hands. "Pair up freely, no soul skills allowed, only practice basic movements."
The students dispersed in twos and threes. Matthew pulled Tang San to join his group, but Tang San shook his head.
"Find someone else, I have something to do today."
Matthew muttered something and went to find the others.
Tang San looked around and saw Xiao Wu standing alone in a corner of the training ground, kicking pebbles on the ground with a bored expression.
He walked over.
"Xiao Wu".
Xiao Wu looked up and glanced at him.
She wore a long scorpion braid, and had big, bright eyes that made her look lively and clever.
"Tang San? What's wrong?"
"Let's spar together," Tang San said. "I need a partner."
Xiao Wu tilted her head and looked at him, then grinned: "Okay. But I won't hold back."
"Need not."
The two people stood facing each other.
Xiao Wu stretched her limbs, her joints making a slight cracking sound, her eyes filled with a hint of eager excitement.
Tang San's posture was very relaxed, with his feet naturally apart, his center of gravity slightly lowered, and his hands hanging at his sides.
Xiao Wu made the first move.
She was incredibly fast. With a tap of her left foot, she launched herself forward like a catapult, her right leg sweeping out towards Tang San's waist.
Tang San didn't take the hit head-on. Instead, he leaned back slightly, and Xiao Wu's foot swept past him, creating a gust of wind.
With a light slide of his foot, he shifted two steps to the side like a ghost, instantly creating distance between them.
Ghostly Appearances.
Xiao Wu missed her kick and was stunned for a moment.
She hadn't expected Tang San to be able to dodge. When other classmates sparred with her, very few could dodge her first kick.
"That's interesting." Xiao Wu's lips curled up, and her eyes lit up.
She charged at him again, this time faster, her punches and kicks coming in rapid succession, like a storm.
Tang San did not retaliate, but only dodged. His steps became faster and faster, and his figure weaved through Xiao Wu's attacks like a slippery eel.
Xiao Wu became increasingly anxious as she fought.
Every punch and kick she threw felt like hitting cotton; she was just a hair's breadth away from touching him, yet Tang San always dodged them by the slightest margin.
"Go ahead and fight back!" Xiao Wu shouted, sweeping a side kick towards Tang San's shoulder.
Tang San did not dodge this time.
He raised his left hand, activated the Mysterious Jade Hand, and his palm instantly turned as black as ink and as hard as iron.
Xiao Wu kicked his palm, making a dull thud.
Tang San remained completely still.
Xiao Wu was pushed back two steps by the recoil, her feet going numb.
