Douluo Continent: Seven Kills Appear, Ten Kills Become God
Chapter 10 A Small Reward! A Refined Steel Sword!
Chen Fei followed Zhao Tiesheng through the training ground and into a stone house deep in the outer courtyard.
The room was simply furnished with a table, a few chairs, and several long swords hanging on the wall.
Zhao Tiesheng gestured for him to sit down, and then sat down opposite him.
"How many years was your first spirit ring?" Zhao Tiesheng asked bluntly.
Chen Fei remained silent for a moment.
"Five hundred years," he said.
This is the truth.
Although a thousand years have passed since the stars baptized him, he can only report the original year to outsiders.
Zhao Tiesheng nodded: "The first spirit ring in five hundred years, level twelve spirit power, and six years old. These figures are top-tier even in Shrek Academy's history."
He paused, then changed the subject: "But that last sword strike of yours just now was something a five-hundred-year-old soul ring couldn't achieve."
Chen Fei remained silent.
Zhao Tiesheng stared at him, his gaze sharp: "The power of that sword strike was at least at the level of a thousand-year-old soul ring. And… there's a very strange aura emanating from your sword. It's neither soul power nor killing intent. What is it then?"
Chen Fei remained silent for a long time.
He knew that Zhao Tiesheng had figured it out.
Not all, but enough to raise suspicions.
"I have a special physical condition," he finally said.
Zhao Tiesheng stared at him for a full ten breaths, then suddenly laughed.
"Fine, if you don't want to talk, I won't force you." He stood up, took a short sword from the wall, and threw it to Chen Fei.
Dust flew and caught it.
The sword was much heavier than the wooden sword, and it gleamed coldly. The character "史" (Shi) was engraved on the hilt.
"This is a reward for the freshmen of the Foreign Languages Department. The first place in Class A is awarded a fine steel short sword as usual," Zhao Tiesheng said. "Your wooden sword should be replaced."
Chen Fei gripped the sword hilt and nodded.
"And one more thing." Zhao Tiesheng walked to the door, glanced back at him, and said, "Use your 'special constitution' less often in the future. Shrek Academy isn't lacking in capable people; I'm not the only one who noticed it."
He pushed open the door and went out, leaving Chen Fei alone sitting in the stone house.
Chen Fei looked down at the short sword in his hand.
His face was reflected on the blade—six years old, thin, and looked no different from any other child.
But within his body lies the power of the Tian Shu star.
It holds the legacy of the Chen family for thousands of years.
It holds the potential for ten stars to become gods.
He sheathed his short sword, got up, and walked out of the stone house.
---
That evening, Chenfei returned to his dormitory and found a cloth bag at the door.
He opened it and found a brand new Shrek school uniform, a name tag that read "Class A", and a thin booklet—"Shrek Outer School Freshman Handbook".
At the very bottom of the cloth bag was a slip of paper.
There is only one line of text above:
"Formal training begins tomorrow. Don't be late. — Zhao Tiesheng"
Chen Fei packed his things away and lay down on the bed.
Outside the window, night falls, and the stars light up one by one.
The brightest one is Tian Shu.
He looked at the star and suddenly remembered what the family head, Chen Yuan, had said to him before he left home.
"This child will go further than his ancestors."
Chen Fei closed his eyes.
Will do.
Will.
As night deepened, Shrek Academy fell into silence.
The traces of the daytime battle on the training ground have been cleaned up.
The wooden stakes were re-erected, and the bluestone ground was as smooth as before.
No one knew that just now, in that stone house deep in the outer courtyard, Zhao Tiesheng sat at the table, writing and drawing on a piece of white paper, drawing and writing again.
In the end, he left only eight words:
"Bei Chenchen is suspected of hiding his true strength."
He folded the note, stuffed it into the deepest part of the drawer, and locked it.
Outside the window, the light of the star Tian Shu shines down silently.
.....
In the blink of an eye, Chenfei has been enrolled for a month.
The month-long training was not easy for him, but it was by no means difficult either.
Zhao Tiesheng's schedule was packed—physical fitness, soul power control, martial soul application, and combat sparring took up almost all of his time each day.
There are thirty students in Class A. The oldest is twelve years old and the youngest is Chen Fei, but no one dares to look down on him because of his age.
In one month, Chen Fei fought seven sparring matches and won all seven.
Every match ended with a single, clean, and decisive strike, leaving no room for error.
He used the fine steel short sword that Zhao Tiesheng had given him. The blade was narrow and long, and much heavier than the wooden sword, but it was still as light as an arm in his hands.
Today, however, he brought a wooden sword.
On the training ground in the early morning, Zhao Tiesheng stood with his hands behind his back, his gaze sweeping over the thirty students in Class A.
"No group work today," he said. "I'll come myself."
The audience erupted in uproar.
Zhao Tiesheng is one of the strongest practical instructors in the outer academy, a level 66 Soul Emperor, whose martial soul is a Xuan Tie Heavy Sword.
He usually only explains and instructs, and has never personally fought with students.
"Teacher, you're coming in person?" Zhao Hu's eyes widened. "Aren't we just asking for a beating?"
Zhao Tiesheng said expressionlessly, "So you'll all come at me together."
"What?"
"Everyone, attack together," Zhao Tiesheng repeated. "Anyone who touches the hem of my clothes is exempt from training today."
The thirty students looked at each other in bewilderment.
All of you attack together? Take on a Soul Emperor?
This isn't just asking for a beating, it's asking for death.
But Zhao Tiesheng was clearly not joking.
He had already stepped onto the dueling platform, untied a jet-black iron sword from his back, and casually stuck it into the platform.
The iron sword pierced the stone three inches deep, producing a dull sound.
"You have ten breaths to prepare. After ten breaths, those who haven't gone on stage yet will have to do ten more laps."
No one hesitated anymore.
Thirty children surged onto the fighting platform and surrounded Zhao Tiesheng.
Chen Fei stood at the edge of the crowd, holding a wooden sword in his hand, without pushing forward.
Su Ziyuan stood to his left, and Luo Qing stood to his right.
"You brought a wooden sword?" Luo Qing glanced at him and asked softly.
"I forgot the steel sword," Chen Fei said.
Luo Qing's lips twitched: "Okay..."
"Ten breaths are up." Zhao Tiesheng's voice interrupted their conversation. "Begin."
As soon as he finished speaking, Zhao Hu was the first to rush forward.
He has made great progress in the past month. After being possessed by the Martial Soul Iron Back Bear, his muscles bulged up, and his punches were powerful and forceful.
But Zhao Tiesheng simply turned to the side, causing Zhao Hu to miss his target. With a casual push, Zhao Hu staggered back several steps and almost fell off the stage.
"Come at us all at once, don't send them down one by one," Zhao Tiesheng said calmly.
The others then realized what was happening and released their martial spirits, rushing forward in a swarm.
The training ground suddenly became lively.
Those with beast-type martial spirits charged ahead, while those with weapon-type martial spirits provided support from behind. Some launched a frontal assault, while others flanked to launch a sneak attack from the side.
Although the thirty children were not very coordinated, their sheer numbers gave them a certain imposing presence for a time.
But Zhao Tiesheng is like a mountain.
He didn't even release his martial spirit; relying solely on his physical strength and combat experience, he strolled leisurely through the crowd.
A fist came flying at him, and he dodged it by sidestepping.
As the leg swept towards him, he raised his foot to deflect it.
Someone attacked him from behind, but he didn't even turn around. He simply pushed the person away, sending them flying a long way.
In less than the time it takes to drink a cup of tea, he had already pushed more than a dozen students off the stage.
"No, we can't win like this," Su Ziyuan said in a low voice. "He's too experienced; he anticipated all our attacks."
"What should we do then?" Luo Qing asked anxiously.
"Wait," Chen Fei said.
