"Hello, Ms. Erii, I am Kairo, and this is Wang Xue. We are both professional doctors from the medical department. Please cooperate with us throughout the process," said Shangmin, who had his hair slicked back.
His eyes were filled with amazement. Erii had just flashed by on the outer ring of the lighthouse, and her profile and flowing red hair had left a deep impression on him.
It was only when they got close that they suddenly realized Erii's skin was so white it glowed, and her bright, clear eyes were full of innocence, like those of a child who knew nothing of the world.
The two had seen many beautiful women from the upper class, but this was the first time they had felt nervous, and they even stammered a little.
"Ms. Erii, I apologize for the intrusion," said the refined-looking Wang Xue, slightly embarrassed. "As required, you need to remove all your clothes, otherwise it will affect the accuracy of the examination."
Kairo quickly nodded, "Don't worry, we're following the procedures and will approach the examination itself with a professional attitude."
Erii got up and left without saying a word.
She only came here for the sake of Zaibing and the others.
The fact that she had to take off her clothes reminded her of her cold memories of the past. When she was young, lying on the cold, icy metal bed, she felt like a skinned white mouse.
"Wait! Erii-san, where are you going?" Wang Xue shouted anxiously.
Kairo quickly blocked the exit, forcing a smile as he reassured them, "Don't make things difficult for us. If we fail to complete the mission, we'll be punished by our superiors."
"Everyone has been through this. In the Lighthouse, we must maintain strict discipline so that we can survive one more day in the apocalypse," Wang Xue said earnestly.
Erii remained unmoved, but in reality, she had already harbored murderous intent.
Despite their sincere attitude and seemingly difficult demeanor, the abominable pendant was already emitting a faint chill, indicating that they were being hypocritical. Erii had no idea what they were really thinking.
Suddenly, Philen's earnest words echoed in her mind: "Miss Erii, it's not that I'm interfering with your freedom to undress, but girls should value their privacy and never be deceived by some filthy and disgusting people. When lust fills their minds, who knows what outrageous things they might do."
"Get out of the way," Erii said calmly, tilting her head as she seriously considered whether to dislocate their limbs.
As a guest and a newcomer, wouldn't it be impolite to start touching the lighthouse before even visiting it?
"What are you two doing here?" A clear, cold female voice came from behind.
"Huh? Dr. Lottie, we're examining the survivors on the ground," Wang Xue stammered in response.
"You weren't here just now, so we were thinking of finishing the task from above as soon as possible to share the burden with the leaders, so we took on this job for you," Kairo said with a smile as he put his arm around Wang Xue's shoulder. "Now that you're here, we'll get to work."
The two quickened their pace and disappeared around the corner.
Lottie, holding a tablet computer, withdrew her disgusted gaze and turned to Erii with a calm expression.
She was dressed in white, with a beautiful appearance and a cool demeanor. Her voice matched her appearance. "Hello, my name is Luo Di, and I am the attending physician in the medical department. I will be responsible for all your examinations."
"Do I need to take off my clothes?" Erii asked.
"No need, just lie down," Lottie replied succinctly.
There was no blood test, no CT scan, no MRI; none of the examination methods Erii was familiar with were present.
There was only one mechanical "massage chair," and after ten minutes, it ended with a beeping sound. Erii almost fell asleep.
According to Ran Bing, in the old world before the apocalypse, human civilization had already entered the era of interstellar travel, and was even more extraordinary in the field of biological science.
As for how extraordinary it was, Ran Bing didn't know, but Erii, who came from the "old world," experienced it.
"The tests only screened for 185 infectious diseases and toxins, and everything was normal. Do you need me to add tests for your organs, bones, and genes?" Lottie asked.
"No," Erii replied.
"Hmm." Lottie nodded indifferently, then started operating the computer as if no one else was there, uploading Erii's report.
"Is there anything else?" She noticed Erii standing next to her, staring blankly without moving.
Hmm, it's kind of cute~
"What is 'starch'?" Erii asked candidly, turning into a studious little girl.
Lottie glanced at the "suspected amnesia" label on the screen, tapped her finger on the table, and patiently explained, "Essentially, it's a bioaerosol containing hallucinogenic neurotoxins and mana spores. It appears as a blood-red mist, released by mana flowers, spine worms, and devouring beasts. One of the reasons for the destruction of the old world was the widespread spread of crimson pigment. Humans who inhale crimson pigment will experience intense hallucinations, leading to rage, irritability, and an inability to distinguish friend from foe. Over time, their bodies will also decay and collapse."
"What are the Mana Flower and the Spine Worm?" Erii pressed.
Lottie's lips twitched. "The Hunters know more about these things than I do. Go ask Vice Captain Ran Bing."
"Oh, thank you." Erii said, taking a Fujiya lollipop out from the lining of her shrine maiden outfit, and pushed open the door to leave.
Seeing the snacks she had never seen before, Lottie tore open the packaging in surprise, smelled them, and then observed them under the microscope for a while before putting them in her mouth and licking them.
"So naive, how could they survive on the ground?" Lottie wondered. "The candy was quite delicious, though."
After reuniting with Ran Bing and Erica, Erii pestered them to tell her about the Mana Flower and other novel things.
It turns out that these new terms are all part of the Mana ecosystem. Some are organisms, and some are plants, each with different functions, interconnected and communicating with each other, turning the ground into a dangerous death hell.
"Shall we go for a walk?" Erica said enthusiastically, taking Erii's little hand.
"You two go ahead, I have other things to do." Zaibing waved and left.

So the two adorable creatures, one big and one small, wandered aimlessly around.
Suddenly, Erii said she was tired and found a place to sit down.
"Wait a minute, I'll go buy a drink." Erica skipped away.
Erii appeared to be staring blankly at the sky, but in reality, she had already activated the Word of Power: Kamaitachi.
Just now, she saw Wang Xue and Kailuo sneaking off into a secluded alley.
Following behind was a sleazy-looking man dressed in a red robe from the Light and Shadow Society. This guy had a bright red, bulbous nose and shifty eyes, making him particularly suspicious.
The three huddled together, whispering to each other.
"Dead?" Wang Xue asked in astonishment.
"Bri, didn't I tell you to take it easy? I haven't even finished my experiment yet," Kayle complained.
"Oh, it's just a female mortal. We can catch another one next time. It's not like it's the first time. We're already quite adept at it, aren't we?" Bri chuckled.
The three continued their conversation in hushed tones.
Erii's facial features remained unchanged, but her eyes gradually turned cold and menacing.
The three secretly kidnapped a beautiful female mortal and imprisoned her in a secluded room. Kairo and Wang Xue, out of personal interest, conducted academic experiments on her that were not permitted by the Lighthouse.
Meanwhile, Brie, who was an official in the Light and Shadow Society, subjected her to inhumane torture, venting her morbid and twisted violent desires.
Just an hour ago, Brie lost control, and the other person suffered cardiac arrest and died suddenly.
He had already disposed of the bodies properly, throwing them into the centralized garbage incinerator without anyone noticing. After all, most of the Dust People were weak and sickly, so it wasn't surprising that a couple would die every now and then.
If someone goes missing, it's even simpler; the upper class wouldn't bother searching for an insignificant commoner.
It's just a rat. It dies in some corner, and after it starts to rot, it will be discovered and disposed of as garbage.
"You're going to the Hall of Dawn again soon, aren't you?" Kairo asked enviously.
"Hehe, to be honest, it's really comfortable to work for the Light and Shadow Society. After all, the Dawn Hall is under the jurisdiction of our Light and Shadow Society~" Brie said smugly.
"When it's my turn, could you use your connections to arrange for me to see Dr. Lottie?" Wang Xue asked shyly, blushing.
"You've got a good eye, kid!" Bri smacked his lips. "It's a shame elite hunters don't have to participate in the breeding ceremony, otherwise I'd really like to try out that one~"
"Who?" Kayle grinned wickedly.
"Our majestic Vice Captain Ran Bing," Bu Li said, letting out a gasp.
"Hahaha~"
The three of them chatted and laughed as they walked out of the alley.
Little did they know, invisible wind demons were circling above their heads, baring their teeth and brushing against their necks.
hum~
The trial process has begun.
puff!
puff!
puff!
The expressions on the three people's faces suddenly froze, and unbearable pain surged from below, causing their consciousness to blur instantly.
As they looked down in horror, their bodies separated little by little, and they could even see their large intestines and kidneys.
Puff puff puff!
The sounds of slicing meat grew louder and louder, and the three of them quickly and evenly smeared the meat on the steel floor.
The passersby around them were all frozen in a daze, their eyes transmitting the images to their brains, but their brains were not able to receive and process them quickly enough.
A full ten seconds later.
"ah"
"Murder!!!"
A heart-wrenching scream pierced the sky, shattering the lighthouse's "tranquility".
