Erii: A Journey Through the Heavens Begins with Frilian
Chapter 16 Whale
While Philon and Frilian were still asleep, Erii got up early and tiptoed out of the door.
She was dressed in a light and airy outfit: a pure white T-shirt, pink shorts, and Winnie the Pooh beach sandals, with a camera hanging around her neck.
Her long hair was tied up with a hairband, which added to her virtuous and wifely charm.
He didn't bring a backpack or other extra items, but he grabbed his sword without hesitation.
As dawn broke on the horizon, the harbor was already bustling with people.
Fishermen need to catch enough fish to sell before winter fully arrives.
The key issue is that due to the shipwreck, the yields near the coast have gradually decreased, making life increasingly difficult. Otherwise, they wouldn't have braved the cold current to go out to sea. Wouldn't it be better to stay at home with their wives, children, and a warm bed?
"You must be Miss Erii, right? The village chief already told me about it!"
In front of a small fishing boat, the old captain, Berg, with a pipe in his mouth, greeted everyone warmly and cheerfully.
"I heard you've cleared most of the shipwreck, thank you so much! You want to see whales, right? No problem! By the way, my name is Lina."
A short-haired woman in her early twenties boarded the ship and passed by; her blonde hair and dark skin exuded vitality.
She pulled a timid, dark-skinned boy from the boat. "This is my brother, Mark. Quick, call her Miss Erii."
The boy blushed and dared not look directly at Erii. He lowered his head and hurriedly said, "Ms. Erii, hello."
It's no wonder he was so embarrassed and shy, after all, the three of them attracted a lot of attention as soon as they entered the village yesterday.
The young boys, in particular, were all captivated by Erii's beauty. They even gathered in the tavern to discuss whether Anne, the most beautiful girl in the village, could fight Erii.
The conclusion is obvious: whether in terms of figure, appearance, or temperament, the wealthy businessman's youngest daughter, Annie, is completely outmatched.
Faced with enthusiastic strangers, Erii can't be said to be completely at ease, but she can still handle them calmly and communicate simply without being humble or arrogant.
As the ships departed the port, the coastline merged with the sky.
The sea breeze gently caressed her cheeks, lifted her hair, and revealed Erii's smooth forehead.
She stood on the deck, leaning against the railing, her mind blank.
"You're so fair-skinned~ even fairer than the snow in winter, I'm so envious." Lina walked over and handed Erii a glass of juice.
Erii didn't know how to reply, so she nodded and then shook her head.
"How long do you plan to stay?" Lina asked in a friendly manner, seemingly unconcerned.
"After the celebration," Erii said.
"Great! Welcome to the New Year's celebration. The sunrise on New Year's Day is especially beautiful. Remember to get up early!" Lina said happily.
"Thank you," Erii said.
"Okay, I'm going to get busy now. Call me if you need anything." After chatting for a while, Lina waved and left.
For the rest of the day, Erii stayed on the deck. The vast, empty sea seemed to possess some kind of magic, allowing her to temporarily forget her troubles.
woo-
Suddenly, a melodious and ethereal voice came from afar, as if a god had sounded a horn.
Bored out of her mind, Erii suddenly jolted awake and hurriedly went to the railing to look into the distance.
"That's the sound of a whale!" Lina exclaimed excitedly as she came over.
Erii stared wide-eyed, looking around, trying to pinpoint the source of the sound.
"Captain Berg deliberately sails to the waters where whales are active. Unless you're extremely unlucky, you're sure to encounter one," Lina said with a smile.
"Thank you!" Erii nodded vigorously.
woo-
The hollow sound rang out again, like a gust of wind penetrating her brain, making Erii shiver.
She looked closely and saw waves rippling on the sea a kilometer away.
Could it be a whale?
"ah!!!"
The sudden scream startled everyone, causing them to turn around in unison.
"It's the captain's cabin, something happened?" Lina's expression changed, and she rushed over.
The other fishermen followed suit, with Erii close behind.
When she arrived at the crowded captain's cabin, she found Berg lying in a pool of blood, arterial blood gushing from the knife wound on his neck.
The murderer was squatting beside Berg's corpse, holding a blood-stained dagger. When he looked up, a bloodthirsty grin appeared on the boy's youthful face.
"mark?"
Erii recognized him; he was Lina's younger brother.
She was puzzled. How could this boy, who blushed whenever he saw her, have killed the captain?
Just when Erii thought they were about to enter the "scheming frog keeps touching your belly" segment, Lina next to her chuckled.
"Mark, well done!"
Her encouraging tone and bizarre words left Erii completely bewildered.
Snap snap snap~
The next second, thunderous applause reached our ears from all around.
All the fishermen laughed and clapped, creating a peaceful and festive atmosphere, as if Mark had killed not their own boss, but a wicked monster.
So, the captain was actually a villain? Everyone wanted to get rid of him a long time ago?
"Eri, it's your turn."
Unexpectedly, Mark's words and actions refuted Erii's guess.
He slowly rose and approached Erii with a burning gaze.
Not only him, but also Lina and the others gathered around her, all pulling out daggers and other weapons.
"Me?" Erii pointed to herself, asking blankly, "Are you sure?"
She was a little sad.
I thought I could make another good friend, even though I thought Lina was a nice person.
She could sense the murderous aura emanating from them, but her heart remained unwavering, and she made a move to draw her sword.
bang——
Beams of magical energy pierced through, and Mark, Lina, and the others were blasted into bloody pulp.
Erii ran out of the captain's cabin, looked up, and asked, "What are you all doing here?"
Huhu~
Frilian and Philon descended from the sky.
The former continued to hunt down the fleeing fishermen, while the latter came to Erii's side.
"Something's wrong with the village. They want to kill us. Luckily, the teacher was on guard and we didn't fall for it." Even in this situation, Philen remained calm. "We were worried about what happened to you, so we came after them immediately. Sure enough, these guys didn't intend to let you go either."
Erii was speechless for a moment.
This was the first time I'd ever encountered something like this, and I suddenly realized that this beautiful sea wasn't as wonderful as I'd imagined.
"It turns out, the world didn't like me that much; I was just being delusional..."
The buried negative emotions surged out all at once, and Erii's gaze became as indifferent as ever.
"Ah~ Don't kill me!"
"Please, please let me go, I have a child..."
"You're a demon, you're a demon!"
Inside the cabin, the fishermen's screams echoed incessantly, highlighting Frillian's ruthlessness.
After an unknown amount of time, the entire ship fell silent. The air was thick with the stench of blood, and everywhere were mangled limbs and pieces of flesh, blasted apart by magic.
Erii's heart was racing and she was feeling irritable; she disliked the taste of blood at all.
hum-
The blades whistled and exploded, cutting the towering mast to pieces.
"There's a formidable opponent hiding here, so watch out." Frillian flew backward with a serious expression, unleashing a powerful fire spell with her backhand.
boom--
A dark shadow tore through the curtain of fire, and a cold, stern face entered Erii's eyes.
Her pupils contracted sharply. "How could it be him?"
