Chapter 119 Nowhere to Escape, Above or Below (Two Chapters Combined)
scared
The sound of a clapper rang out.
Genjiro clutched his head and growled, trying to suppress his physical discomfort, but an unparalleled rage welled up inside him.
"My King!!!" he roared hoarsely, "You can't escape!!!"
Buzz—
A sharp, explosive sound came from behind.
Genjiro's personality was suppressed, and Kazama Ruri took over her body once again.
Under the king's deliberate control, his eyes were completely filled with gold, his mouth was twisted into a ferocious grin, and his whole body exuded an extremely pure and violent killing intent.
He drew his alchemical sword, his form transforming into a vengeful ghost, and slashed at Uesugi Kotsu's unguarded back.
Almost at the same instant, Angers moved.
At this moment, everyone felt that the surrounding space had changed, and they were pulled into a distorted realm of incantations.
They knew perfectly well that it was the principal who had activated the Word of Power: Time Zero.
Erii didn't see the elegant old man's movements at all. She only knew that in the blink of an eye, he rushed in, like an old but powerful dragon, and slammed Kazama Ruri heavily against the wall.
The gold-plated folding knife flashed as it opened and closed, and several clusters of blood blossomed in mid-air.
Angers swung his right hand repeatedly, piercing two bloody holes in Kazama Ruri's wrist, causing her to drop her longsword.
call-
Inuyama He unleashed his eighth-level burst of speed, flashing to Kazama Ruri's side at nearly 7.4 times the speed of sound, a speed of 2560 meters per second, and forcefully blocked her neck with his long sword.
The blade touched the skin, making a fine, bloody cut.
"Kid, behave yourself." Inuyama He lost his old-man's composure and at first glance looked like an impatient boy eager to impress his teacher.
Only in front of Angers did he feel like he was still a spirited young man, even though he was indeed that age-wise.
"Hmm~"
Kazama Ruri shook her head in pain, the golden light in her eyes flickering.
"Brother, go and kill him, don't worry about me~"
His voice was sometimes sharp and hoarse, sometimes gentle and timid, as if his dual personality was vying for control.
Perhaps the intensity was too much for his brain to handle, and he collapsed to the ground with a thud, seemingly trapped in a dream he had created.
In the dream, it was Genji who was trying his best to stop Kazama Ruri. Despite being slashed and bleeding profusely by the latter, he gritted his teeth and held on tightly to Kazama Ruri's legs.
"We are demons, and he is the one who hates demons the most in his life. One of us must die!" Kazama Ruri roared in exasperation.
"But he never killed us," Yuan Zhinu said, tears streaming down her face. "Didn't we use the Dream Membrane to put him under an illusion, making him mistakenly believe he had killed us?"
The truth behind Genji's years of self-blame and internal strife regarding the murder of his brother was merely a dream prepared by the King and Kazama Ruri.
"You guys go ahead, I'll stay here," Inuyama He said.
"I'll keep it too." Sakurai Kogure knelt down worriedly and wiped the cascading sweat from Genji's face.
The group stood on the corpses of countless shadow warriors, their feet sticky and uncomfortable.
"There's only one person inside," Erii said, then deactivated the Blood Ties, a state that even she had maintained for a long time.
I also feel overwhelmed.
She kicked it out, and the steel gate burst open with a bang.
"Her normal physical body is comparable to that of an ordinary hybrid who has opened an Immortal or Bronze Throne. It seems that EVA's overall assessment of her was too conservative. The Japanese in this era are truly full of talented people." Angers witnessed Erii's entire process and pondered to himself.
Behind the door was a huge laboratory.
The walls and floors are painted in a cold color scheme, and the experimental equipment and furniture are arranged meticulously. On one wall hangs a retro red flag with black lettering, which is clearly a Nazi symbol from World War II.
In a glass pool on one side, young snake-like Dead Servants swam, staring at the uninvited guests with innocent but brutal eyes, uttering sharp cries.
The experimental area and the living area were not separated. Compared with various scientific research facilities, books and materials, Wang Jiang's food, clothing, housing and transportation were obviously much more rudimentary.
A bed without blankets, an old-fashioned bedside table with a peeling and cracked enamel mug on it, and a pile of unpackaged medicines.
The king, wearing a mask, sat calmly in a chair behind his desk, observing the murderous crowd with an air of composure.
He slowly scanned each person, then sighed with deep emotion, "Is there no escaping this today?"
Upon hearing the familiar voice of the old man, all the members of the Snake Clan frowned.
The king removed his mask, revealing Tachibana Masamune's face and a pair of eyes filled with arrogance and haughtiness.
"Tachibana Masamune?!" Genji said in a deep voice.
"Are you the King or Tachibana Masamune?" Erii asked seriously.
He shook his head, straightened his retro clothes, and wore a medal from some research institute on his chest. The material, style, and the aura he exuded made him look like he had stepped out of World War II.
"Neither a king nor Tachibana Masamune," he said arrogantly, lifting his chin. "My name is Jung von Herzog, the greatest genetic scientist in Germany and the world!"
"! It's someone from my hometown!" Fingel's untimely exclamation of surprise rang out.
He squeezed through the crowd, staring intently at the old man, and took out his camera to snap away, probably intending to put it on the front page of the college's news website.
"Come on, old man, look at the camera and smile!"
Looking at the out-of-place Fingel, and his delighted and curious expression and words, Herzog's lips twitched twice as if offended.
"Herzog? The information EVA found mentioned him. He was a genius who entered the Imperial Academy of Sciences at the age of sixteen, but was expelled due to his mental abnormality and eccentric behavior. So it was basically mentioned only briefly, and no such person was found afterward. He was presumed to have died in the war," Ye Sheng said.
"Oh, so it's just some nobody bragging about himself here~" Angers chuckled in realization.
Hearing the two whispering, Herzog's face visibly darkened.
Yuan Zhisheng stepped forward and angrily questioned, "Introduce yourself, Mr. Herzog. What made you go to such lengths to weave this inescapable net to trap the three of us?"
"6
"Chiki is as polite as ever, truly my favorite and most obedient sword. What a pity, what a pity, your younger brother and sister are no pushovers," Herzog glared venomously at Erii, speaking in an incredibly strange and lewd tone, "Especially you, my beloved daughter. I'm the one who loves you most, why did you leave my embrace? My love for you far surpasses that for your two brothers; you shouldn't and have no reason to leave me!"
The group quietly dispersed, ready to strike at any moment, and also kept a close watch on all the passages in the laboratory to prevent Herzog from escaping.
"Two older brothers?" Uesugi Kotsushi, however, accurately caught the blind spot, his gaze sweeping incredulously over Erii before sharply fixing on Herzog. "What do you mean?"
Herzog raised an eyebrow in surprise. "So you didn't know? Respected Shadow Emperor, Erii is also your child. The three of them are half-siblings. Of course, they are all artificially cultivated products of my own hands, so it is only natural for them to call me father."
Upon hearing this, Uesugi Koshi and Genji were stunned, revealing unexpected surprise.
"So, you and Genji are my biological brothers, and you," Erii said, equally stunned, "you are my—father?"
Hmm, it's supposed to be a somber scene, but inexplicably it's filled with a warm atmosphere.
"Heh heh~ Faced with the threat of being surrounded and attacked by his own father, the child trafficker had no choice but to confess his crimes!" Fingel switched to video recording mode and blurted out a smug sarcastic remark that made Herzog's eyelids twitch.
"Are all young people in Germany like you these days?" he roared, his face darkening. "You're a disgrace to the Führer!"
"I'm very curious, how did you, a genuine old European bastard, become the head of the Snake Clan?" Fingel asked, voicing the doubts in everyone's minds.
"Hmph~ Everyone here is a prominent figure in the mixed-race world, especially the two of you," Herzog ignored Fingal's continued provocations and turned to Uesugi Koshi and Angers, "In that case, I'll tell you about my great journey!"
"It all started in Port Black Swan, didn't it?" Angers started the conversation.
Herzog chuckled softly, his gaze low and menacing: "As expected of the leader of the Secret Society, you know more than I imagined—"
Next, he spoke with immense pride and honor about his background, work experience, and research projects, as if reciting the biography of a hero.
Herzog was indeed an excellent young geneticist, but the real turning point in his life began when he was captured alive by the Soviet Union and sent to the secret research institute in Port Black Swan.
Of course, Black Swan Harbor, which claims to be a doomsday gene bank, is actually a prison of evil and sin.
There, countless mixed-race children are imprisoned. Herzog and his team's job is to study the special bloodline in the children's bodies, namely dragon blood, and to extract and explore it for genetic development and in-depth application, so as to create new "gods" with human hands.
As the nation disintegrated, the research institute teetered on the brink of collapse, and its dark secrets could no longer be concealed.
Herzog meets Bondarev, who suddenly appears, and together they burn down and destroy the research institute, only to be betrayed by him. Fortunately, Herzog's heart is not on the left side, thus saving his life.
Driven by a thirst for revenge, he sets out with three of the most advanced genetic embryos in search of Bondarev's whereabouts.
Persistence pays off; Herzog successfully located Bondarev, who had changed his appearance, in Japan, killed him, and took over Tachibana Masamune's identity.
The three excellent genetic embryos are now Genjiro, Genjiro, and Uesugi Erii. They all came from the sperm of the same person, Uesugi Kotsugi.
Herzog changed tactics, using the genetic technology left behind by Bondarev to create shadow warriors, thus achieving multiple shadow clones and further expanding the web of his conspiracy to cover the entire neon world.
"And so, I've been playing both Tachibana Masamune and the King, completely outmaneuvering you bunch of fools," Herzog let out a gleeful, monstrous laugh, his shoulders trembling with excitement. "The plan is almost complete, in three or four years at most!"
His tone suddenly turned fierce, and he abruptly stood up, slamming his hand on the table. "Eri!!!!! Who did you meet during those days you disappeared? My disguise was flawless; with your hamster-like intelligence, there's no way you could have noticed anything amiss!"
Bang bang bang!
He slammed his fists on the desk in a frenzy, roaring hysterically, his face contorted with bulging veins, as if he wanted to devour the composed Erii alive.
"It's none of your business," Erii said calmly, making Herzog's throat tighten with anger. His knuckles, gripping the knife, turned white as he suppressed his rage. "All these goals you've set are for the resurrection of the White King?"
Herzog's lips curled into a disdainful smile, but he was interrupted by Angers just as he was about to speak.
"Are you telling us all this just to buy us time?" Angers said, glancing at his phone.
"Delaying time?" Herzog sneered. "Everything I own is here. What's the point of doing that? But I want you all to go to the underworld with me!"
puff puff!
Angers appeared instantly behind Herzog, whose two arms were severed at the shoulders and fell to the ground. A miniature remote control he was holding was crushed by Angers's foot.
It's not hard to guess that pressing the button would detonate the entire underwater underground laboratory, causing everyone to perish together.
Unfortunately, there were too many powerful figures at the moment, and Herzog's decision about whether to live or die was not up to him.
Herzog, with his missing arm, was pale, and a bitter and resentful expression appeared on his face.
"Stop acting, he's just a puppet," Angers laughed. "Your master should really apply to be a top Hollywood mentor; he's an expert at training actors."
"What puppet? What master? I am Herzog—wait, who am I? I am Herzog, I am the King General, no, no, no, I am Tachibana Masamune," he raised his head with a distorted expression, looking helplessly at Genjiro, "Machibana, save me, I am my father, I am the patriarch, please explain to them—"
As blood flowed freely and life ebbed away, he could no longer function properly. He leaned weakly against the chair, muttering incoherent words.
Seeing this, Erii and the others realized they had been tricked again.
This is the last Shadow Warrior, but even it has been deeply brainwashed by Herzog.
"What the hell?" Fingel exclaimed in astonishment. "Headmaster, that old bastard is too cunning!"
The thought that Herzog's true identity might have already escaped prompted everyone to urgently search the laboratory area.
Finally, on the next level, they discovered a small dock that connected to the sea.
"This maintenance facility was manufactured by the Ganryu Research Institute," Sakura Yabuki said, examining the series of devices installed in the dock. "It's a super-fast miniature submarine that Tachibana Masamune requested to be developed eight years ago. I never expected it to be placed here."
At this point, the submarine had vanished.
"Principal, what about us?" Yuan Zhisheng felt completely helpless, having no idea how to track them down, since the vast ocean was nothing like a city.
Erii turned and left, intending to take a helicopter to the sea to continue using Blood Ties to lock on.
"Don't worry," Angers yawned, lit a cigar, and flipped through the scattered documents on his desk. "There's nowhere to escape, neither in heaven nor on earth."
zizi~
He turned on the speakerphone, and a deep, husky male voice came through.
"We've detected the submarine's sonar signal. It's entered our encirclement zone. Should we send out an elite team from the executive department? Oh, and I've brought those two promising youngsters with me. Let them practice their skills."
Fingel and his two companions recognized the voice as belonging to von Schneider, the head of the executive department of Kassel College!
"You mean Chu Zihang and Caesar?" Angers thought for a moment. "Let them hone their skills, but don't kill them. Herzog is only valuable when he's alive."
