Swallowing the Stars: Analyzing All Things

Chapter 2 The Corpse Insect Clan!

Wind-driven star system, edge of the star belt.

In the dim and quiet void of space, amidst countless battle debris, a silver-white spaceship suddenly burst in.

"Splash!"

The spaceship hatch opened.

Lin Yan flew out with his teammates, taking in everything before him: disintegrated spaceships, alien corpses severed in half, and shattered planetary debris...

The largest fragments still have diameters of hundreds of kilometers.

"Nanxi, Lin Yan!"

Captain Longco's rough voice, transmitted through the Force, said, "You two are in charge of the Z75 area. Gather all the valuable debris you scan."

"Also..." He paused, his voice becoming serious as he scanned the entire squad, "I'll remind you again: be aware of any surviving alien races, and be wary of Li Feng's presence."

"yes!"

Lin Yan and the others responded in deep voices.

This wasn't the first time they'd done this, but each time the team leader would repeatedly remind them to be vigilant.

Assign tasks accordingly.

The team members then split up and went off in pairs.

In the direction of the Z75 star belt, Lin Yan and his teammate Nan Xi flew while using their warrior wristwatches to probe the surrounding wreckage.

"Wreckage: Spaceship type".

"Level: D"

Damage level: 75.34%

Value: 1 military merit.

Outside a damaged spaceship, a series of messages appeared on the screen of Lin Yan's wristwatch.

"Only one military merit?"

Looking at the message displayed on the screen, Lin Yan curled his lips in disdain, but his hands kept moving, and with a wave of his hand, he stored the damaged spaceship into the watch's storage space.

Cleaning up battlefield remains naturally earns military merit.

Corpses of some alien races are transported by the military logistics system to rear logistics bases and distributed to specialized areas where some of the materials needed for bloodline potions can be extracted.

The materials used by cosmic warriors for training, and even the materials for their weapons, all come from these remnants.

"If you ask me, the military leaders could have done this with a single thought, yet they made us clean it all over again!"

Nanxi sullenly investigated from the side. His appearance was very similar to that of an Earthling, and he was thin, but his strength was at the seventh level of the universe level, ranking among the top three in the entire combat team.

Far surpassing Lin Yan before.

"Alright!"

Lin Yan glanced at him, flew past him, and headed towards another wreckage. "This is also a perk for us. Soldiers from other legions don't even get this kind of treatment."

As Nanxi said, immortal gods could easily clean up the entire battlefield debris; it was simply a matter of whether they wanted to or not.

The merit of cleaning up and recycling wreckage is rare, and the commander of a legion may not be interested in it. Unless he is an immortal who is particularly short of money, he will usually let his legion do it.

Lin Yan was lucky.

Although the battlefield remains were left by the 476th Army, the 476th Army is currently pursuing a foreign legion, so this matter was naturally handed over to the 477th Army, which is stationed closest to it, and handled by Longko's squad.

"I still need to save up!"

Scanning the empty energy on the stone slab, Lin Yan regained his composure. To proceed with the next secret technique analysis, the energy value on the panel needed to reach at least 1 unit.

……

Several hours later.

Lin Yan and his companion scanned a large area in the direction of Z75 and landed on a fragmented planet with a diameter of several hundred kilometers.

The entire fragment of the planet was completely unrecognizable. The largest side of it looked as if it had been cut in half by something, with a clean, mirror-like cut and small burn marks remaining.

"Nanxi!"

Lin Yan nodded to the other person and walked in front, while Nanxi followed thirty meters behind him, her eyes constantly scanning the surroundings.

These large planetary fragments are the most difficult to handle in wreckage cleanup because the Warrior Watch cannot scan them completely, and there is a risk of residual aliens lurking inside.

The latter probability is extremely small, but not entirely impossible.

Beyond that smooth, mirror-like area lies a desolate, uneven wasteland, littered with battlefield remains, held captive by the planet's faint gravity.

The mechanical race's spaceship was half-inserted into the ground, and parts of the mechanical race's war machines were scattered everywhere. A section of the skeleton of a monster, tens of kilometers long, lay across the left and right.

"In this godforsaken place, mentalists are indeed more effective than us martial artists."

As Nanxi followed behind, he muttered to himself that he was confident he could overpower Lin Yan in a direct fight, but in terms of reconnaissance, the mentalist had a huge advantage.

Lin Yan did not reply.

His mental energy was spreading out, scanning the canyon ahead, where the corpse of a canine monster lay, half of its body cut off, emitting a strong stench.

Suddenly, Lin Yan's brow twitched.

He suddenly sensed a faint fluctuation deep within the monster's corpse, but strangely, just as his mental power was about to lock onto the fluctuation, it suddenly disappeared.

They vanished completely, as if they had never existed.

"That's not right." Lin Yan suddenly stopped.

Nanxi immediately became alert. "What's wrong?"

"There's something inside that corpse." Lin Yan stared intently at the direction of the canyon, and the Mirage Feather instantly transformed into a stream of light shuttle to keep watch.

The two slowly approached each other.

Nanxi immediately activated the warrior's watch's detection function, and after a moment frowned, saying, "The detection system didn't detect anything unusual. Could it be that you're just too nervous?"

"Whether there's a problem or not, you'll know once you try it!"

As soon as Lin Yan finished speaking, the light shuttle hovering beside him instantly transformed into a streak and shot into the depths of the canyon, so fast that Nanxi could only see a fleeting afterimage.

The next moment—

boom!!!

The canine monster's corpse suddenly exploded.

Amidst the exploding bone fragments, a gray shadow let out a sharp roar and soared into the sky, only to be swallowed whole by a strange bird-like beast as soon as it flew out of the canyon.

Lin Yan reached out and beckoned, and the strange bird obediently flew back, dispersing above his palm, leaving only a drop of dark green liquid that emitted a pungent, putrid odor.

"They're actually the Rot Insect Clan!"

Before Nanxi could be shocked by the strength Lin Yan had revealed, she immediately recognized the gray figure as soon as she saw its appearance.

The Corpse Worm Clan!

A subordinate race of the Zerg.

The morphology of this group is not fixed. Some have the characteristics of crustaceans, some are very similar to plant life, and some are like a dark green droplet that has just been killed.

"What an annoying thing!"

Nanxi curled her lip in disgust. The Corpse Insect Clan is good at parasitizing, hiding, and manipulating corpses. Their combat power is not top-notch, but their ability to hide is extremely strong.

Once they hide, unless it's the world power of a realm lord, even a domain lord-level martial artist would have a hard time detecting them.

"Let's go, keep searching."

With a thought, Lin Yan used his mental power to crush the dark green droplet in his palm and beckoned Nanxi to continue exploring the fragmented planet.
