A Comprehensive Network: An Endless Adventure Begins as a Wanderer

Chapter 61 won first place in the Louis VI cosplay competition.

At the end of the passageway was a dark, circular ceremonial hall.

Several dim candles were lit on the surrounding walls.

Clearly, the light source in this ceremonial hall did not come from these candles.

A figure in black robes stood in the center of the hall, a bright light emanating from his hand.

Okay, it's actually just a light magic trick.

Under this light, several figures, also dressed in black robes, were diligently lying on the ground, using ritual brushes to draw an intricate ritual.

He would also occasionally dip some bright red "paint" from the blood bowl beside him.

Meanwhile, the humanoid light spell continued to reprimand them.

"Pay attention! Don't draw it wrong! If the ritual can't start, we'll all be in trouble!"

A man in black robes, lying prone on the ground, looked somewhat indignant.

What's with the swagger? You were just a little more careful when collecting the offerings...

Thinking this, the shouting suddenly stopped.

Everything around them fell into absolute silence.

Then, the light went out...

------------

Cheng Yi rubbed his temples and walked out of the underground passage.

After clearing away a blood sacrifice ritual, Cheng Yi unsurprisingly discovered, beneath the black robes of those cultists, the priest's robes belonging to the Church of the Fathers of War.

It seems that almost the entire church has fallen into depravity.

However, these hastily converted cult members were extremely sloppy in their work.

Why wear the clothing of the orthodox church when performing such a sordid act as a blood sacrifice?

While silently commenting to himself, Cheng Yi organized the information he had just extracted from the minds of these cultists using his detection abilities.

The Church of the Fathers of War orchestrated more than a dozen blood sacrifice rituals throughout Marsville, with the aim of corrupting the entire capital of the empire.

These cultists only know that their branch ritual sites play a supporting role to the main ritual site, serving to spread the ritual effects throughout the city.

The core of the entire demonic ritual takes place inside the royal palace in Maswell.

Following the usual process of the toilet can clearing game, Cheng Yi should be clearing out each small stronghold one by one at this point.

Finally, once you've completed most of the prerequisite tasks, head to the palace to face the final boss.

However, after learning that the Archbishop of the Church of the Fathers of War was not in Marsville at the time, but had led a team to the Frostsilver Forest in the north, and that a cardinal was in charge of presiding over the blood sacrifice ritual,

Cheng Yi's mind started to wander.

He'd already done the toilet-unclogging task way enough in that potato game.

Moreover, if they really had to clear out each stronghold one by one, the person presiding over the ceremony would probably realize something was wrong before all the strongholds were cleared.

Stirring up trouble is not the act of a wanderer.

A single, decisive blow is the way to go!

Straight to the heart of the enemy!

------------

Louis XVI sat in his magnificent palace, somewhat irritated as he flipped through the battle reports from the front lines.

Although he was the one who started this war that swept across the entire plane.

But as of today, the direction and control of this war are completely out of his hands.

Louis XVI also understood that the current outcome was already predetermined when he made the pact with the devil.

By sacrificing a plane to achieve immortality and power, Louis XVI felt that this deal was not a bad one.

However, the repeated setbacks suffered by his Imperial Cavalry at Blade Fortress and Fairy Wilderness made him vaguely uneasy.

It seems the ceremony needs to be expedited...

Just as Louis XVI was thinking this, a court guard strode in.

"Your Majesty, Lord Riddell requests your presence, saying there has been new progress in the ceremony."

Riddell was the cardinal who presided over the ceremony.

That was just right.

Louis XVI nodded in satisfaction, put down the battle report in his hand, and gestured for his guards to lead the way.

They arrived at a study in a side hall, activated a hidden door behind a bookshelf, and walked down the winding stairs behind it.

Beneath the entire palace lies a vast underground space.

The densely packed, blood-red ritual texts were engraved all over the surface of the black stone slabs laid on the ground.

At the very center, there is an altar that appears to be made of congealed blood.

Standing on the stage was a bishop of the Church of the Father of War, dressed in red, while a group of cultists in black robes gathered below.

"Your Majesty, good day. I am here to preside over the ceremony, so please forgive me for troubling you with your presence."

Riedel was very respectful, and Louis XVI was pleased with him.

"It's alright, I came here just to see what new progress has been made in the ceremony."

"Please come up on stage and take a look."

Louis XVI slowly walked up the steps of the altar, which seemed to be made of blood, as if it were sticky to the touch.

When Louis XVI ascended the altar, Riddell smiled slightly.

"Your Majesty may not know this, but the progress of this demonic initiation ritual is going smoothly, and the construction of many of the ritual components is basically complete."

"but……"

Louis XVI was somewhat puzzled.

"But what? Speak freely."

"But we are still missing a crucial sacrifice."

"What kind of offering is it? With the power of the Empire, I will surely find it for you."

Instead of speaking directly, Riddle slowly began to talk about other things.

"To overcome the crystal barrier of this plane and guide the power of the Nine Hells to the material plane to enable the ascension of hundreds of thousands of people, it is not something that can be accomplished by blood sacrifice alone."

"Therefore... we need someone of high rank and authority in the Calipis plane to vouch for the power from the Nine Hells."

"Oh, who is that?"

Louis XVI forced a smile; he seemed to understand somewhat, and his feet had already silently moved towards the audience.

Riddle sighed.

"Your Majesty is very clever, but... it's too late."

Suddenly, several blood-red chains shot out from the blood-stained platform, binding Louis XVI tightly to it.

"You can't kill me! I made a pact with that lord!"

Riddle felt a pang of pity.

"To believe in a pact with the devil is less naive than foolish."

"But don't worry, the ritual isn't finished yet, you can't die."

"Your identity is quite special; things really wouldn't be right without you. After all, you need to be a king and also connected to the Nine Hells. You might be the only sacrifice in this plane."

However, just as Riddle finished speaking...

Without anyone noticing, a sword was drawn from its sheath.

A sacred sword shadow streaked through the air.

Louis XVI was beheaded.

Riddle was dumbfounded, as were the surrounding cultists, and even Louis XVI...

Well, he's completely dumbfounded.
