Chapter 120 The Impermanence of All Things

Cheng Yi stared silently at the blue-purple deck of cards in his hand.

No, is that right?

Regarding the incident where I opened a secret treasure chest and got the Myriad Manifestations Token.jpg

Yes, it's still the super plus version of the Impermanence Amulet —

【The Unpredictable Nature of All Things - Card Type: Rare/Legendary/One-Time Use - Quality: ? ? ?】

Item level: ? ? ?

Description: For centuries since the creation of the Impermanence Cards, many have tried to replicate them but failed. However, some have created new cards; these 44 new cards, along with the original 22 Impermanence Cards, are collectively known as the Impermanence Cards.

Like the Impermanent Card, the Impermanent Card manifests differently in many worlds. It may contain more or fewer cards and often appears alongside the Impermanent Card as a combined 66-card deck. This combined deck is usually protected by a box or small bag. The 44 cards of the Impermanent Card are similar to the Impermanent Card and possess powerful magical effects.

It is worth noting that cards from the "All Things Uncertain" deck are more likely to be beneficial, although about a third of them are still dangerous.

Before drawing cards, you must declare how many cards you want to draw, and then draw them randomly. Unless a certain card allows you to draw additional cards, drawing cards beyond the declared number will have no effect.

Cards drawn normally have their magical effects applied immediately upon drawing. Unless a card describes an exception, if you fail to draw the declared number of cards, the declared but undrawn cards will automatically fly out of your deck and take effect simultaneously.

Once a deck is drawn, it will automatically dissipate and then reappear at another random location in the multiverse.

P.S.: We can draw upon our own fantasies about fate until the deck is exhausted, but ultimately, the only person who can decide your fate is yourself.

To the Fate Trader Asteria

Cheng Yi looked at the "All Things Are Unpredictable" card in his hand with a bit of a headache.

So, there's something like this deep within the Dragon Vein Maze?

Then he hesitated.

Want to gamble?

Cheng Yi decided to first examine the other item he had obtained from the treasure chest in the Dragon Vein Maze.

[Groundhog Type III - Fully Automatic Portable Excavator Type: Rare Machine Quality: Purple Item Level: 8]

Description: A mechanical device made entirely of high-quality steel and magical alloy. When folded, it is only the size of a suitcase, but when unfolded, it can reach more than one person's height.

Equipped with a high-speed rotating drill bit at the front, the drill bit's surface is covered with a layer of "rock-breaking" aura enhanced by runes, enabling it to dig through soil, sand, and even hard rock at a speed of several feet per minute.

The machine has a built-in simple elemental energy core, which allows for eight hours of continuous operation on a single charge. The operator only needs to set the direction, depth, and path through a magic control panel, and then leave the rest to the machine.

P.S.: The dwarves also had glorious charges on the front lines, but that changed with the invention of trenches —

Oh no! This is terrible! And the breasts are so short!

Cheng Yi smiled, stuffed the excavator deep into his backpack, and his gaze returned to the blue-purple deck of cards.

Of the 66 cards, two-thirds are beneficial and one-third are dangerous.

Cheng Yi stared at the deck of cards for a while, then suddenly gave a helpless laugh.

As expected, no gacha player can resist such temptation.

Why not open it if it's free?

But he still understood the principle of not courting death in the prime material plane.

Cheng Yi opened the daily dungeon list and randomly selected a dungeon to enter.

A familiar feeling of dizziness washed over me.

When he opened his eyes again, he was standing in a dark tomb passage.

The surrounding area consisted of rough stone walls, and in the distance, the wails of the dead could be heard.

Cheng Yi first cleared out the monsters in the dungeon, then took out the "All Things Are Unpredictable" talisman from his backpack and weighed it in his hand.

The dark purple patterns on the back of the card glowed faintly in the darkness of the tomb.

He took a deep breath and activated the deck in his hand.

[Network notification: You are using the "All Things Are Impermanent" card. Please declare the number you wish to draw.]

Cheng Yi did not rush to draw the die, but instead tentatively touched the illusory twenty-sided die in his heart.

put all one's eggs in one basket!

With the feedback he received from his senses, Cheng Yi breathed a sigh of relief.

Drawing this "All Things Are Impermanent" card is undoubtedly a lucky check!

If he's really unlucky and draws the worst cards, he still has a desperate gamble as a trump card to start over!

So, how many should we draw?

Drawing too little yields too little profit, drawing too much carries too much risk.

Cheng Yi pondered for a moment.

Three images might be a suitable threshold.

Cheng Yi held the card up in front of him and flicked it lightly with his finger.

The deck of cards unfolded automatically in his palm, with 66 cards face down, neatly arranged in a fan shape.

He stared at the backs of the cards for two seconds, then closed his eyes and randomly drew three cards.

The moment the cards left his hand, the deck reassembled, transforming into a handful of tiny, dark purple specks of light in his palm, which dissipated into the air of the tomb.

Cheng Yi opened his eyes.

Three cards floated in front of him, arranged in an arc, slowly flipping over one by one.

The first card, with its dark surface, depicts a bottomless abyss.

[39 - Pitfall: A pitfall appears beneath your feet, causing you to immediately fall 180 feet, sustaining fall damage and knocking you to the ground.]

Gan!

Before Cheng Yi could react, the stone slab beneath his feet collapsed in an instant in a bizarre manner.

He felt his feet slip and he plummeted downwards.

The wind whistled in my ears.

Darkness surged in from all directions.

All means of transmission have been forbidden by the Impermanence of All Things!

Cheng Yi could only fall downwards!

"Bang!"

A dull thud echoed in the darkness.

Cheng Yi felt a sharp pain in his back, waist, and legs at the same time, as if someone had lifted him up, slammed him to the ground, and then stomped on him twice.

He climbed out of the cold, damp pit, while the remaining two cards still floated in front of him.

Cheng Yi gave a wry smile; what an inauspicious start!

But the card "The Unpredictable Nature of Things" gave him no time to catch his breath. At the bottom of the cramped pit, the second card slowly unfolded. Its blurred surface depicted a magnificent and intricate labyrinth, with towering, winding walls that stretched as far as the eye could see, its exit and its end unseen.

【33—Maze: You immediately gain 1-3 levels of Exhaustion.】

A heavy sense of exhaustion surged from Cheng Yi's body, as if an invisible hand had instantly drained most of his strength.

It was a kind of weariness that made you want to lie down right there, close your eyes, and not care about anything anymore.

Muscles become sore and weak, and reactions become sluggish.

[You have been affected by the "All Things Are Unpredictable" card: The Maze, and are currently undergoing a random judgment.]

You have reached Level 2 Exhaustion!

[Level 2 Exhaustion: Your speed is halved, and you are at a disadvantage on all attribute checks.]

Cheng Yi silently prayed in his weary heart, "Please let the third one be a front view, otherwise it'll be a huge loss."

At the same time, he was also prepared to take a desperate gamble.

Cheng Yi leaned against the pit wall and looked up at the last card.

However, it wasn't the last card played.

A towering white tower occupies the entire face of the card.

[61—Tower: You draw 2 extra cards.]

Then, the fourth and fifth cards flew out from the void.

The fourth card is slowly being turned over, and golden light spills out from the edge of the card, illuminating the entire bottom of the hole.

On the card, a comet with a long tail streaks across the night sky, its tail illuminating a barren landscape below, as if tearing a rift in the darkness.

[09—Comet: If you defeat one or more hostile monsters alone, you will gain enough experience points to advance to the next level.]

Finally, finally a positive effect card!

Cheng Yi's eyes welled up with tears.

But before Cheng Yi could even catch his breath, the fifth card revealed its true form—

Those were flames from the Nine Hells, carrying a deep-seated malice—

[22—Fire: A powerful demon sees you as its enemy. It will try to destroy your will and your life, taste your suffering, and ultimately kill you. This demon's hostility will continue until either it or you is dead.]

Cheng Yi: Tu!

They still haven't let me go!
