Two Realms: Hunters and Pirates

Chapter 5 Whale Island

"Go Leorio! We're waiting for you to come back as a professional hunter."

"Zane, remember to come back and visit us when you have time!"

"Whether you succeed or not, you two need to protect yourselves and don't overexert yourselves!"

"......."

The Hunter Test is undoubtedly highly anticipated.

There was no concealment between Zane and Leorio when they participated in the Hunter Exam.

As the three days passed in the blink of an eye, and the two were about to depart, many residents of the small town came to the bus station to see them off.

"Haha, don't worry, I will definitely pass the test and become a professional hunter."

"Then let's set off."

Amidst Leorio's hearty laughter and Zain's smiling farewell wave, the two boarded a long-distance bus and gradually drove away from the town.

"Zane, the nearest boarding point to us is Whale Island. Look, it's right here. If there are no unexpected events along the way, we should arrive two or three days ahead of schedule."

On the long-distance bus, Leorio, now dressed in a suit, placed his briefcase on his lap, pulled out a map, and explained the route to Zain beside him.

Looking at the small island that Leorio pointed to on the map, which resembled a whale, Zane nodded slightly and said, "Then we'd better be careful with the time. If we're late, we'll have to take the Hunter Exam again next year."

"Don't worry, I've already planned the route these past two days, and I guarantee we'll arrive ahead of schedule," Leorio said confidently, patting his chest.

As it turns out, although Leorio can be impulsive at times, he is actually quite reliable.

Throughout the journey, whether it was changing bus stops or boarding a ship to go out to sea, the process was very smooth and there were no mistakes.

Before they knew it, three days before the deadline set by the Hunter Association, Zain and Leorio successfully arrived at their destination, Whale Island, by boat.

"We still have three days left, we need to find a place to stay first."

Leorio, who had disembarked from the ship and was standing on the harbor, looked at the town not far away and turned to Zane.

"Let's go, there should be a hotel in town." Zane nodded and then took the lead, heading towards the town.

Leorio followed closely behind.

In the three days following his successful registration, Zain did not stop hunting and had already saved up a considerable sum of money.

This money was specifically earmarked for his participation in the hunter test.

The town on Whale Island wasn't too poor, and soon Zane and Leorio found a hotel to stay in.

The next day.

"Whale Island is one of the boarding points for the Hunter Exam, so there must be other candidates coming here. Zane, shall we take a stroll around town and secretly observe the other candidates?"

After a night's rest, Leorio had shaken off the fatigue of the journey and rushed to Zane's room early in the morning, making suggestions with great enthusiasm.

"I'm fine with anything, I'm just killing time anyway." Zane, dressed, casually replied to Leorio while adjusting his headband, which he never even takes off when he sleeps, in front of the mirror.

Once everything is tidied up.

Soon, Zane and Leorio left the inn and began to stroll around the town.

"I feel that living by the sea is quite nice, at least you can eat a lot of cheap seafood."

Walking down the street, Leorio was enjoying a large handful of grilled squid in one hand and a drink in the other.

"Hmm... the taste is indeed quite good."

Zane, standing next to him, did the same, even taking more than Leorio, and could finish several skewers of grilled squid in just two or three bites.

With Zane as a major financial backer, Leorio's journey to participate in the Hunter Exams will obviously not be as financially strapped as it was in the original story.

Especially when it comes to food, Zane has fully inherited the appetite of a pirate; whenever he has free time, he will definitely look for something to eat.

That's exactly how it is right now.

As they strolled around, the two gradually began to eat while shopping.

"Come and see! That kid Xiao Jie really caught the Swamp King!"

"Really? Wasn't it said that the Swamp King hasn't been fished out in almost ten years?"

"Haha, you didn't know, did you? It was Gon's dad who caught the Swamp King back then. Now that Gon can catch it, it's clear he's inherited Ging's talent."

"......."

Suddenly, a person ran down the street shouting loudly, and many nearby residents hurriedly followed and left.

"The King of the Swamp? What is that?" Leorio asked, quite curious about the residents' reactions.

Zane followed the crowd, waving to Leorio behind him, "Let's go check it out too!"

Upon hearing the name "Swamp King," Zane already knew the general situation.

Clearly, the plot on Whale Island hasn't changed much. Gon still proved to his family that he was capable of participating in the Hunter Exam by fishing up the Swamp King.

"Wait for me..."

Seeing Zane heading off, Leorio quickly quickened his pace to catch up.

Following the crowd, they soon arrived at a nearby port.

By this time, a large crowd had already gathered.

In the middle of the crowd was a huge, strange fish with many thin, short limbs on its abdomen.

Next to the strange fish stood a boy with spiky hair, wearing a green shirt and shorts.

"Wow, this is huge! Is this the King of the Swamp?"

"I didn't expect you to actually do it. Xiao Jie, you're just as good as your dad."

"Like father, like son!"

"......"

The crowd was amazed by the enormous, strange fish and the spiky-haired boy who had caught it.

"Is this the big fish that this kid caught?"

Listening to the discussions around him, Leorio, who had squeezed to the front of the crowd, looked at the spiky-haired boy in the arena with great surprise.

Zane, standing to the side, also looked at the spiky-haired boy with great interest.

This spiky-haired boy is none other than Gon Freecss, the protagonist of the Hunter x Hunter world.

Let's go!

After observing for a while, Zane called out to Leorio and then turned to leave.

He only came here to see the main character, Xiao Jie, in person. It was like visiting a tourist attraction and taking a quick look around. He didn't have any intention of approaching or chatting with him.

Although Leorio was surprised that Gon, a child, could catch a giant fish like the Swamp King, which was comparable to a monster, he didn't think much of it after hearing Zane's greeting and left.

..........

It's already the third day since we arrived at Whale Island.

After eating and drinking, it was finally time to board the ship.

Early in the morning, a large number of people of all kinds had already gathered at the port.

"There are quite a lot of people here."

Leorio, who had also arrived early, shrugged at the group of people who were obviously there to participate in the Hunter Exam as well. He then whistled.

Zain surveyed the people in the room, his gaze quickly landing on a figure mixed in among them.

She has delicate features like a young girl, blonde hair, and wears clothing with distinct ethnic characteristics.

"A gentle avenger."

Looking at Kurapika waiting quietly in the crowd, Zane silently made his assessment.

Actually, the protagonist of this world isn't necessarily Gon.

Whether it's the speed at which his strength grows or the richness of his character, Kurapika is quite outstanding.

At least in Zane's eyes, Kurapika left a deep impression on him and was someone he was willing to befriend.
