Chapter 34 Shooting Squad (Please continue reading)

Richard pondered for a long time but still couldn't come up with a reasonable explanation. He shook his head and decided to stop thinking about it for now since he couldn't figure it out.

The thought of going back to that place teeming with spiders and teeming with monsters gave Richard a headache. Although his strength had greatly increased, he still needed to make proper preparations for safety's sake!

Before long, Richard arrived at Sanders' Cottage, where the brown-haired girl was still in charge of managing the shop. She was sitting inside the counter, intently flipping through books.

Upon seeing someone enter, the brown-haired girl quickly stood up and said, "Hello, welcome to Sanders' Cottage! Oh, it's you, junior!"

"It seems you still remember me, senior. I'm going on another mission this time. By the way, senior, I heard from others last time that there's a potion that can make people lighter. Do you sell it here?"

The brown-haired girl smiled slightly: "Junior, you must be talking about the Elegance of the Wind potion, right? Yes, we do have it, but it's not cheap; it costs fifteen magic stones a bottle. But it's definitely worth the price. After taking it, the effect of the level zero sorcery Elegance of the Wind will surround your entire body, reducing your burden by about half for about fifteen minutes. The key is that there are no side effects."

Richard frowned immediately. The item was indeed of good quality, but the price seemed a bit too high.

The brown-haired girl glanced at Richard's expression and said, "Junior, actually, if you can tolerate the side effects of the Swiftness Potion, the difference in effect between the two isn't that significant."

"Senior, just give me a bottle of Elegance of the Wind!" Richard said firmly, since the fact that it has no side effects is very important in certain crucial moments.

"Hey, it seems you had a very fruitful trip last time, junior!" the brown-haired girl praised with a smile, then turned around and took a bottle of reagent that was shimmering with white light from the cabinet and handed it to Richard.

After much deliberation, Richard decided to purchase three potions: a potion of blindness, a potion of stench, and a potion of the Elegance of Wind!

"The three potions cost a total of thirty-two magic stones, but I can waive one magic stone for you, making it thirty-one magic stones in total! I hope you'll continue to patronize our shop often, junior~" The brown-haired girl's eyes lit up when she saw Richard's extravagant spending, and she smiled radiantly.

The next morning, near the counter in the School Mission Hall, a group of young people were gathered together. What was particularly striking was that three of the four of them were holding identical giant crossbows. They seemed to be waiting for someone, and the one leading them was none other than Stephena.

Today, she had changed out of her gray apprentice robes and was wearing a set of tight-fitting dark leather armor for ease of movement in the wild. The beautiful lines outlined by her full figure attracted the eager gazes of the young men around her.

Although they were too embarrassed to stare intently, the occasional twitching of their Adam's apples and the swallowing sounds revealed something.

"Has Richard not arrived yet?" the freckled girl asked Stephanie.

"Did that Richard really kill Davos in one move?" a brown-haired male apprentice asked with some suspicion. You see, his friend had fought Davos for over a hundred moves and was ultimately defeated. Davos broke all four of his limbs and it took him more than a month to recover!

The key point is that he knew his friend's strength very well; he was a young swordsmanship master from the Kingdom of Green! So he found it hard to imagine that anyone could kill Davos with a single sword strike!

"Of course it's true! So many of us saw it! Right, Stephania?" The freckled girl turned to Stephania to confirm.

"It's true! It's not time yet, but since Richard promised, he'll definitely come. Don't worry!" Stephanie was quite confident about this. From her observation, Richard valued family and kinship, which was both a strength and a weakness. If it were used by the enemy, it would become a weakness!

"Is Richard you guys talking about really that good? I bet the Davos you guys are talking about is too weak. What 'near-peak knight' and 'sword genius'? He's probably only a big deal among you freshmen. On the upperclassmen's side, almost anyone you randomly pick is a near-peak knight!" A burly boy said disdainfully while rubbing oil on his half-sword.

He was a senior student who had arrived a year earlier than the others present, and for some reason, he was recruited by Stephena this time.

"Sorry everyone, I'm late." Richard's appearance was a bit strange. His light leather armor was normal, but the bulging package on his back was too eye-catching, giving the impression that he was going out for a picnic!

Stephanie was also taken aback and asked curiously, "Richard, what's that package behind you?"

"Uh, it's nothing. By the way, shouldn't we be setting off?" Richard couldn't find a good reason for the moment, so he made up an excuse to cover up the pile of skeletons in his bag.

"Tch!" The tall boy sized up Richard, but couldn't find any connection between this skinny kid and the word "expert." His skinny build meant he wasn't strong, and since he hadn't been there long, he probably hadn't learned any witchcraft or magic tricks!

Stephania didn't know what to say for a moment, so to cover up her embarrassment, she immediately said, "Then let's set off. I'll introduce you to each other on the way."

The tall man is Havel, a knight-level expert, a senior member, skilled in sword and shield, and proficient in the level zero sorcery [Slowness Spell]. He is primarily responsible for tanking.

Kelvin, a quasi-knight, a newcomer, skilled in using a half-sword and a crossbow, but not yet proficient in witchcraft.

Lena, a freckled girl, is a prospective knight and a freshman. She is skilled with crossbows and daggers but has not mastered witchcraft.

After listening to Stephanie's introduction, Richard looked at the three people besides Javier, each holding a huge crossbow, and was quite surprised. He thought to himself, "Stephanie has assembled a shooting team!"

With three crossbowmen and him, a shortbowman, they were poised to shoot the Crystal Web Spider to death!

Sure enough, just as he was thinking about this, he heard Stephanie's voice.

"Richard, your main responsibility is to clear out the Black Widow Spiders. I know you have a special archery skill that can quickly eliminate large numbers of wild beasts." Stephania blinked, indicating that she knew Richard very well.

"Haviel will hold the monster back, while the three of us will focus on killing it. I've even brought thirty mithril arrowheads this time!"

"Mithril arrowheads?"

"Yes! It's very effective against dark-attribute monsters, but it's a bit pricey, costing two magic stones per bolt!" Stephania handed over an exceptionally well-made crossbow bolt, its arrowhead engraved with intricate patterns and shimmering with a mysterious silver light.

"Here you go~ I've also prepared twenty mithril arrows specifically for short bows for you!" Stephania handed Richard a full quiver, filled with mithril arrows suitable for short bows.

This is a huge investment! But Richard couldn't understand why Stephanie would spend so many magic stones on this mission.

After the freckled girl Lena shot and killed a sharp-toothed crocodile that was trying to ambush them with a giant crossbow, Richard realized that the crossbows in the three of them were no ordinary ones. He saw that when Lena was loading a bolt, she had to brace her feet against the crossbow and pull it back with all her might to load a single bolt.
