One Piece: New Century Hextech Warriors
Chapter 8 A Pair of Unfortunate Couples
No sooner had the words left his mouth than the wardrobe door creaked open.
A slender maid with short purple hair was kneeling inside.
"Sir, I...I am a maid of the noblemen. I was so scared when I heard the shelling that I hid here."
She explained in a trembling voice, her large, pitiful eyes glistening with tears, intentionally or unintentionally revealing a touch of allure.
Sith seemed captivated by her, and slowly walked up to her, chuckling softly:
"Don't be afraid, I'll help you escape—"
"Amprio Ivankov".
The maid clenched her fist happily, "Thank you for helping me..."
She suddenly realized something was wrong halfway through her sentence, her smile froze instantly, and she said with a confused expression:
"Ishkov? Are you sure you haven't mistaken me for someone else?"
Sith sneered at her purple hair, purple lipstick, and those few star-shaped eyelashes. Who else could it be but Ivankov!
He suddenly noticed a red arrow above the wardrobe, but he didn't expect it to be this guy.
Ivankov is a Paramecia-type Hormone-Hormone Fruit user, capable of freely changing his gender and appearance, making him very suitable for infiltration.
"Stop pretending. I know you. As for how we know each other, don't worry about that. Anyway, you should know very well that you can't escape me at this distance."
Before the high-ranking revolutionary officer could speak, Sith continued on his own:
"I'm guessing that the bear's attack just now was bait, and the real purpose was to get you to infiltrate here and find Ginny's whereabouts, right?"
A calm and collected person like Kuma would never attack the Marine Headquarters just to vent his anger.
He hadn't guessed what Big Bear was up to until now, when he used the "professional assassin" to catch Ivankov, and recalled the news he'd seen about Ginny's arrest not long ago, the truth was easy to guess.
These two are looking for Ginny, who has been arrested!
Back in God Valley, Kuma, Ginny, and Ivankov were comrades-in-arms who shared life and death, and later they were all high-ranking cadres in the Revolutionary Army. They couldn't possibly stand idly by while Ginny was captured.
Seeing that Sith had guessed everything, Ivankov simply stopped pretending, quickly transformed back into his transvestite form, and jumped out of the wardrobe with his limbs outstretched.
"Hehe! Sith Boy is so smart! But why didn't you just make a move? Were you captivated by him?"
Looking at Ivankov's big, blinking eyes, Sith couldn't help but complain:
"Who would be attracted to a guy like you!"
Ivankov laughed with his hands on his hips:
"It's alright, Sith Boy, bravely awaken the femininity within you, the Kingdom of Kamabakka will accept you!"
Sith was speechless.
"So, were you even listening to what people were saying?"
He's not some round-faced, buzz-cut, bearded guy from the must-eat list in Chengdu, what kind of awakened female is he?
Ivankov stopped joking and asked seriously:
"Tell me, Sith Boy, what exactly do you want?"
Since the Sith didn't attack him, it means they have something to discuss.
He had no intention of fighting back or running away. He had already gathered intelligence on the powerful navy in the East China Sea and knew how strong this young man was. He had also seen the scene of Sith taking the pressure cannon of the Great Bear head-on.
Such a monster cannot be dealt with by him alone.
Sith didn't rush to answer, but instead asked:
"So, why did you decide to attack the 13th Branch in order to save Ginny?"
Ivankov sighed softly and said angrily:
"After Ginny was arrested, we found out that she was imprisoned with a group of slaves and sent to the 13th Division."
He glanced around suspiciously, frowning as he said:
"But I just searched around and didn't find any trace of Ginny or the other slaves. We can't have sold them all in just a few days, can we?"
Upon hearing this, a hint of killing intent flashed in Sith's eyes.
The 13th branch was indeed problematic. He had said it himself: how could a mere amusement park attract so many nobles?
It turns out they were secretly engaged in the slave trade, and those nobles were probably just there to "shop"!
Seeing his slight anger, Ivankov laughed sarcastically:
"Let me tell you a secret: we've discovered that Branch 13 is a transit point for the slave trade. That's much more profitable than catching pirates, as long as we don't get caught!"
Sith understood.
The World Government does have legal slave traders, but those guys basically only serve the Celestial Dragons. It's illegal for anyone else to do this, let alone the Navy.
After all, this is a highly profitable business, and the world government won't allow just anyone to do it.
Hearing him say this, Sith wondered if the hostile targets he had detected in the villa earlier might actually be the slaves.
He didn't mince words and got straight to the point:
"Eva, I'll help you investigate and see if Ginny is being held here."
Ivankov was taken aback when he heard him call him by his nickname.
Why are you helping us?
Sith looked at him with an air of self-righteousness.
"I dislike the slave trade, let alone the involvement of the navy."
His parents died in a mission to combat illegal slave traders, and the Sith naturally disliked the buying and selling of slaves.
But most importantly, there might be unexpected benefits to saving Ginny.
If the 13th Branch really was illegally buying and selling slaves, then helping the Navy eliminate a scoundrel would be a great achievement, and it would give me a better chance of getting into the elite class.
The corresponding bonus will certainly be substantial!
Moreover, if they could really help the revolutionary army rescue Ginny, it would be a huge favor to Ryu, a very profitable deal.
The dragon is a symbol of emperors!
Ivankov paused for a moment, then took out a tiny Den Den Mushi and handed it to Sith.
"This is my Den Den Mushi (snail phone). If you find anything, feel free to contact us anytime. We'll provide any support you need!"
It was risky, but Ivankov felt it was worth it for Ginny.
After Sith took the Den Den Mushi, Ivankov grinned:
"Hehe! Sith Boy, don't die! The Kingdom of Kamabakka desperately needs someone like you!"
He skipped and hopped out, quickly disappearing into the darkness.
"If it can bring this ill-fated couple together, that would be nice."
Sith chuckled softly and muttered to himself.
Back then, Big Bear and Ginny made him shed a lot of tears. If he fails this time, the tragedy of Ginny being treated as a planetary slave will happen again.
He hates minotaurs the most!
Just then, footsteps could be heard outside.
Mason arrived with a large number of navy personnel, and they all breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing the Sith.
"Captain Sith, the Revolutionary Army has been driven away by us, and the nobles are safe and sound."
"Thank you for your support, Colonel Tina. I will report your achievements to headquarters first thing tomorrow morning!"
After exchanging a few polite words, Sith asked someone to take him home to rest.
After Sith left, Mason whispered an order to his adjutant beside him:
"Take a thorough inspection to see if any of the 'goods' are damaged."
On the sea within a few kilometers.
The revolutionary army's ship sailed slowly, gradually moving away from the 13th branch.
Big Bear sat cross-legged on the deck, listening to Ivankov recount what had happened that evening, and scratched his head sheepishly.
"I'm sorry, Eva, for making you take such a big risk."
After Ginny was arrested, the revolutionary army went out to search for her whereabouts, which made Big Bear very worried.
He certainly wanted to rescue Ginny immediately, but he was also afraid that his comrades, in their eagerness to save her, might end up getting themselves killed.
Ivankov jumped up and slapped his bear-ear hat hard.
"What are you saying, you idiot? Ginny is my best friend. We promised each other back in God Valley that we'd be together forever!"
"As for you, shouldn't you hurry up and propose to Ginny when she gets back? As a boy, you should be more proactive!"
Big Bear's face flushed red instantly, and he smiled shyly, showing no signs of the "tyrant" rumored to exist.
"I...I'll prepare some more."
Deep down, he felt he was not good enough for Ginny.
Ivankov took out a small mirror and, while touching up his makeup, said:
"I have a feeling Sith Boy isn't a bad guy; maybe he really can help us find Ginny!"
"There are still many good people in the Navy, isn't our leader one?"
He appeared confident, but in reality, he wasn't sure what to expect.
But now that things have come to this, they have no choice but to trust the Sith.
Big Bear nodded emphatically, his gaze fixed on the dark sea.
"Ginny, I will definitely rescue you!"
