Chapter 5 "The Audience" Potion
"Don't be impatient. What you need to do now is firstly, to become proficient in the process of extracting chakra, and secondly, to become familiar with how to use chakra."
Once you've mastered both of these, you can start trying to use chakra while simultaneously extracting it.
Once you can do this, it means you've entered the basics and have the ability to fight using chakra.
Before this, you don't need to even think about those ninjutsu and secret techniques. Let alone whether you can learn them, you don't even have the most basic qualifications to use them...
Ever since Audrey decided to pursue the chakra system, she has made time every day to train in front of Louis.
As for Louis, he doesn't have much to do besides manipulating space to move around every day, so he didn't refuse and instead treated the teaching process as a form of rest.
As Louis moved through the space, his control over that space gradually deepened.
This made him realize that the void he was in was very strange, as if it did not exist naturally, but was deliberately designed by someone.
The purpose seems to be to isolate the inside from the outside, preventing the beings in this void from leaving.
Louis had also wondered if this void was actually a massive seal, designed to imprison him.
Of course, Louis was self-aware enough to know that even if he were sealed, it wouldn't be aimed at him personally, but at the Otsutsuki god within him.
After all, in a true sense, the Otsutsuki God was no different from an extraterrestrial demon in this world, so it was understandable that he was sealed away.
Louis understood this, but when it came to him, he was unwilling to accept it.
After all, based on his own feeling, it would take about a thousand years for the Otsutsuki Shibakai inside him to be completely unsealed. He couldn't very well let himself be exiled in the void for a thousand years for the sake of this world.
Perhaps when his own time is about to end, he might seal himself away somewhere for the safety of the world, to prevent the being within him from destroying it.
But that doesn't mean he was willing to dedicate his entire life to it, especially since his life was exceptionally long.
While refining chakra, Audrey did not give up on researching the "Audience" potion, after all, it was the first complete potion recipe she had ever obtained.
Even if she herself was no longer going to take it, she could still give it to her other companions, since her friends were still quite looking forward to the extraordinary.
Audrey told her family that she had recently become interested in chemistry and therefore wanted to try doing some experiments.
So Earl Hall waved his hand and selected an empty room in his house, had a complete set of chemical instruments set up in it, and gestured to Audrey to see if anything was missing, and to let her know if she needed anything, so that the butler could purchase it.
Since preparing the "Audience" potion doesn't actually require any complicated chemical equipment, Audrey simply had her butler buy more test tubes, flasks, and conical flasks.
"Let me see. The main ingredients are the eyes of a pair of adult Manhar fish and 35 milliliters of blood from a ram-horned blackfish."
It has no eyes, but it does have the blood of the horned blackfish.
Pure water, colchicine extract, and peony powder—it seems the only missing ingredient among the auxiliary materials is the fairy flower.
Great, now all I need to do is find the eyes of an adult Manhar fish and the petals of a fairy flower to concoct the potion.
Hmm... I don't know about the Manhar fish yet, but I think I heard someone mention the Fairy Flower before...
Audrey carried a list and searched through the family treasury, ticking off each item she found.
"Oh, I remember now, I think I heard Grelint mention him before. Hmm, looks like I'll have to look for him later."
Viscount Grelint, a fellow occultist with Audrey, possessed a considerable collection of rare and unusual materials. After finding him, Audrey even saw a whole adult Manhar fish in his collection room.
And so, Audrey easily gathered all the ingredients for the "Audience" potion.
However, during this process, Viscount Grelint noticed something amiss and suspected that Audrey might have secretly acquired some occult knowledge behind the backs of her friends.
Audrey neither directly admitted nor explicitly denied this, but rather hinted at it with ambiguous words.
Audrey had her own considerations. Firstly, she wanted to experiment and see what the "Audience" potion was like. Secondly, she wanted to ask Louis if he would allow her to spread the word about chakra.
The former required Audrey's own efforts, while Louis himself was somewhat hesitant about the latter.
Louis is still not quite sure whether the void outside the space is really a seal set up for him.
If that's true, then it means that there is one or a group of powerful individuals in this world who know of his existence.
In this situation, he wasn't sure how much that powerful figure knew about him, or rather, about the Otsutsuki clan.
If the other party becomes aware of this, then if I were to publicize my chakra extensively, wouldn't that be tantamount to exposing my existence to the outside world?
When the time comes, he will likely be met with one or more powerful figures descending from the sky and sealing him away once again.
As for whether it's all a misunderstanding, that doesn't matter; it's just a waste of his brain cells.
Therefore, for safety reasons, Louis told Audrey that she must first master the basics of chakra cultivation before it could be promoted privately on a very small scale.
Audrey had no objection to this, and in fact, she did not intend to reveal to the public that she had gained extraordinary powers.
Putting aside everything else, within their aristocratic circle, there are only some secret messages circulating in the shadows related to the extraordinary.
It is clear that there is no consensus in society that such matters should be made public.
Therefore, it is perfectly reasonable to be extremely careful.
As for why she would ask Louis for permission to spread the word on a small scale under these circumstances, it was out of consideration for her own interests.
Having grown up with an aristocratic education, she naturally understood the importance of friends and allies. The best way to keep friends and allies by her side was to offer them irresistible benefits.
Among all the interests, supernatural powers are always at the very top. If Louis allows her to spread them, then she will have a group of close allies with shared interests.
Louis was not averse to this, or rather, he was happy to see it happen.
Thanks to the Otsutsuki clan's control over chakra, the more Audrey and the others trained their chakra, the less they could actually defy him.
The concern was that there might be some unknown powerful being present; otherwise, Louis would have preferred the entire world to cultivate chakra.
When that time comes, everyone facing him will be inherently 30% weaker, and the whole world will become his backyard.
Even if Louis didn't have the idea of becoming a god or ancestor in this world, everyone would still want to live in a safe environment.
In his previous life, his safety depended on the country he lived in.
But now, without anyone to back you up, everything depends on the individual. So naturally, the stronger you are, the better, and the weaker others are, the better.
Louis's answer delighted Audrey, especially considering her current knowledge of various mysteries.
Gaining extraordinary power comes at a price, and losing control of one's extraordinary abilities is one such price.
In this way, the safe system of refining chakra becomes extremely precious.
Especially within their aristocratic circles, she didn't yet understand why those great nobles would allow such extraordinary power to flow out of their control.
It is highly likely that this behavior was too dangerous, and for those nobles, there was absolutely no need to gamble their lives on extraordinary power that would not significantly enhance their authority.
However, just like Audrey and Viscount Grelint, their curiosity and longing for this mysterious power have always existed.
If given the chance to gain extraordinary abilities without any danger, these nobles would likely not refuse.
Now, Audrey needs to know just how dangerous it is to take potions.
At this moment, Audrey was conflicted. Her inherent kindness made her hope that taking the potion was not dangerous.
However, due to the aristocratic education she received from her family, she also hoped that the more dangerous the potion she took, the better.
To avoid being tormented by these two thoughts, Audrey decided to start the experiment immediately after gathering the materials, to directly observe the effects of the potion.
Audrey instructed her personal maid that she was about to conduct a chemistry experiment and should not be disturbed to prevent the chemical reagents from being used incorrectly.
Anne, of course, would not refuse her mistress's order, and immediately said that she would remind the others.
Even so, Audrey was still not entirely at ease. She even brought her big dog Susie to guard the laboratory door and instructed it to tell her if anyone approached.
After doing all this, Audrey locked herself in the laboratory and shut the door.
The preparation of potions is not complicated; in fact, it can be said to be quite simple.
No heating or grinding is required; you just need to follow the correct order and strictly control the ingredients added to the bottle.
After the eyes of the adult Manhar fish were injected into the blood of the horned blackfish, the eyes rapidly rose and fell.
Furthermore, a large number of bubbles were released during this process, making the entire liquid appear as if it had been boiled.
Faced with this situation, Audrey quickly added the other auxiliary materials into the bottle as well.
Strangely enough, the auxiliary materials dissolved quickly in the boiling blood and disappeared in just a few breaths.
It was at this moment that the boiling effect of the blood in the bottle disappeared, replaced by a series of fine but gentle bubbles.
Previously, the blood reaction was so intense, yet the eyes of the Manhar fish showed no change. But now, they are gradually breaking down and dissolving.
The eyes grew smaller and smaller, and more and more debris fell off, eventually turning into powder completely.
But it only turned into powder; it never dissolved further.
This caused the liquid in the bottle to change from its original blood-red color to silver-white.
Upon closer inspection, one can discover that those silvery-white particles are actually tiny fragments.
"The final product was silvery-white. It seems I really do have talent; I succeeded on my first try."
I was worried that two sets of materials might not be enough, since it would be best to bring a finished product to convince my friends.
"Woof woof woof!"
Just then, Susie, who was guarding outside the laboratory door, suddenly shouted. According to Audrey's previous instructions, this meant that someone had come.
Audrey couldn't help but frown, knowing that she had specifically instructed others not to disturb her at this time.
The laboratory was located in a corner of the villa, and unless someone deliberately sought it out, no one would normally walk this way.
Audrey glanced again at the still churning silvery-white liquid in the bottle, then hid it in a dark corner of the room before opening the laboratory door.
Audrey crouched down, looking at the large dog wagging its tail: "Susie, who's coming?"
Susie leaned forward with a fawning expression, but Audrey, having just prepared a potion and touched the ingredients, refrained from touching Susie for safety reasons.
Just then, Audrey's personal maid appeared at the end of the corridor corner.
"Didn't I tell you not to disturb me while I'm doing my experiments?"
Anne stepped forward apologetically and handed over an invitation with both hands: "I know, Miss, but it's an invitation from the Duchess, Lady Della."
Upon hearing this, Audrey's face showed a thoughtful expression, and she took two steps closer to accept the invitation: "Is she the Duchess of Negan?"
Anne briefly described the contents of the invitation: "Yes, she has invited the court baker, Ms. Vivi, and therefore would like to invite you, Madam, to enjoy afternoon tea."
Audrey blinked; she was currently engrossed in her fascination with the mystical powers and had absolutely no interest in this pointless socializing.
"Tell my mother that I feel dizzy. It might be because I was stimulated by the smell of the chemical reagents when I was doing the experiment, or it could be because the sunlight was too strong and I became a little dehydrated."
In short, please ask her to convey my apologies to Mrs. Della.
As she spoke, Audrey simultaneously made a weak expression.
Anne wasn't stupid; she knew Audrey was faking it, so she tried again: "Miss, this isn't just afternoon tea; it's also a literary salon."
But Audrey, already immersed in mystical matters, had absolutely no interest in such things: "Even literary salons can't cure my headache, Anne. I think I need a rest."
Seeing that Audrey was determined not to participate, Anne sighed helplessly, "Alright, miss, would you like me to help you back to your room?"
Just then, Audrey's ears twitched slightly, as if she had heard something.
"No need, I haven't finished my experiment yet, it needs some more processing..."
