Chapter 40 You call this a secret infiltration?

Chapter 40 You call this a secret infiltration?

"Coulson, you call this a covert infiltration?"

Hawkeye's eyes widened as he stared at his colleague, who was fully armed with his squad.

If he weren't worried about the bureau chief's reaction, he probably would have sent a whole tank battalion.

"Isn't what I did called a covert infiltration?"

Looking at Coulson's innocent eyes, Hawkeye was speechless.

Coulson smiled and patted his tactical gear, each piece carefully selected to provide necessary protection without being too conspicuous.

"Barton, my friend, you must understand that our targets are not ordinary criminals. This mission involves cunning and well-equipped adversaries, and we must ensure that every step is flawless."

"Absolutely foolproof? Judging by this setup, I feel like we're more like a commando team attacking a small fortress than carrying out a covert infiltration."

Despite his complaints, Hawkeye held the bow and arrow firmly in his hand, ready to deal with any unexpected situation.

Although he is a modern man, Hawkeye insists on using cold weapons in combat, which makes him seem a bit odd in the team.

"If we eliminate all the enemies who discover our whereabouts, wouldn't that be considered a covert infiltration?"

That's absolutely right, but the question is, can you actually kill the other person?

"Coulson, I think you're being far too aggressive today. This isn't like you at all. And most importantly, do you really think we can take them down so easily?"

Hawkeye was somewhat worried, after all, this might be some kind of supernatural force, or at the very least, a large biological research company.

No one knows how much strange power the former possesses; heaven knows if they can curse us to death from afar.

If it's the latter, then it's even more frightening, indicating that this group is using religion as a guise for biological research and tax evasion.

That would mean the boss behind it is a big capitalist, the true master of America.

And S.H.I.E.L.D., to put it bluntly, is just a watchdog kept by these men.

If someone tries to turn against their master, wouldn't they be beaten to death on the spot?

Moreover, to bring such ample firepower to kill their master is simply outrageous!

"Barton, don't worry. At worst, we can just pin the blame on Kingpin. Anyway, that mob boss looks respectable, but he's not exactly honest. The higher-ups are starting to find him a bit annoying."

If it really is just one of the officials' assets, we can simply shift the blame to him. You know, our bureau chief isn't someone to be trifled with, and the other side will only accept that as a way out.

Although it's unclear why Coulson was so confident in the new director, Coulson was, after all, the commander of this operation, and Hawkeye could only obey.

"Patton, we should first..."

Just as Coulson was preparing to deploy his battle plan, he suddenly saw a bald woman appear in front of him for some unknown reason.

"Greetings, guardians of the mortal world, I am the Ancient One, and I need your help this time."

The Ancient One's voice was deep and magnetic, and there was a strange energy fluctuation around her that made the surrounding air tremble.

Coulson and Hawkeye exchanged bewildered glances. Just as they were about to launch a full-scale assault on the cult's stronghold, they suddenly ran into a mage.

There's a problem, there's definitely a problem!

"Master Ancient One, may I address you as that?"

"Of course, Agent Patton."

The Ancient One nodded slightly and continued, "I sense an unusual dark power gathering here. This power threatens the balance of the real world. Although I am the guardian of Kamar-Taj, I need your assistance in the face of such a threat."

These words stunned Hawkeye. Whether the woman's words were credible or not was another matter, but how did she know his name?

Upon hearing this, Hawkeye's eyes flashed with a mixture of wariness and curiosity. He deliberately spoke in a provocative tone, "Oh? Master, you even know our names. Do you also know what we had for dinner last night?"

The Ancient One remained unmoved by Hawkeye's provocation, her face maintaining its composure and detachment.

"Agent Patton, a name is just a title. What matters is the threat we face together. As for your dinner, that's not my concern. However, I can tell you that my perception far exceeds your imagination."

"Is that so? I don't think so. You're just putting on a show."

After saying that, Hawkeye stepped forward, intending to teach this pretentious woman a lesson.

He'd seen plenty of these charlatans; they were all just swindling and cheating people. A beating would shut them up.

Before Hawkeye could finish speaking, he shot towards the Ancient One like an arrow released from a bow, his bow and arrow instantly transforming into a silver lightning bolt, aimed directly at the mage's heart.

However, just as the arrow was about to touch the Ancient One, she gently raised her hand, and a pale blue energy shield condensed at her fingertips, easily deflecting the arrow as if it were nothing more than a gentle breeze.

"Agent Patton, your courage is commendable, but violence is not the only way to solve problems."

The Ancient One's voice remained calm, without the slightest hint of anger.

"In this world full of unknowns, what we need is wisdom and cooperation, not pointless fighting."

Hawkeye was stunned by the scene; he had never seen anyone deflect his attack so easily.

However, that alone was not enough to make this elite agent surrender.

"Hmph, what a load of nonsense! I'll see how capable you really are!"

As Hawkeye spoke, he drew the bowstring taut once more, preparing to launch an even more ferocious attack.

But then the Ancient One appeared before him even faster, and with a gentle wave of her hand, sent Hawkeye flying. No, there was another version of himself in front of Hawkeye; it was his own soul that had been ejected from his body.

Coulson and the others didn't witness this horrifying scene; they only saw Hawkeye fire an arrow, which was then blocked by an unknown force as it reached the bald woman.

Hawkeye was about to continue fighting when Coulson tried to stop him. But the bald woman who called herself the Ancient One quickly appeared in front of Hawkeye, lightly patted him, and then his brave colleague collapsed limply.

This situation is absolutely terrifying!

Does such a power really exist in this world?

Coulson swallowed hard. If this bald woman had this level of power and still needed their help, then what about the church?

"Hello, Ancient One, I think this is a wonderful misunderstanding."
