Chapter 23 Holy Son

The first rays of morning sunlight pierced through the gap in the curtains, gently brushing against Strange's handsome face and waking him from his dream.

Unlike the leisurely mornings of ordinary people, Strange's mornings begin with a cup of black coffee and a quick browse through international medical journals.

After a quick breakfast, Strange drove to a world-class hospital in the heart of Manhattan.

Inside the hospital, the busy yet orderly atmosphere made him feel familiar and at ease. After changing into a white coat, surgical cap, and mask, he instantly transformed into the "guardian of life" who walks on the line between life and death.

With his superb skills, no surgery can stump him.

Compared to him, his colleagues were practically mentally challenged; there would never be a doctor who could rival him.

These hands earned him wealth that most people could only dream of in a lifetime, enough to support him for the rest of his life if he didn't squander it.

After finishing his workday, as usual, Strange drove his luxury car for a spin on the mountain roads.

If all goes well, this will be another pleasant experience.

But it was impossible for things to go unpredictably. A car accident that had occurred several years earlier struck at this time, causing the famous doctor to fall off the cliff along with his car.

This scene was being watched quietly by a group of people.

"Lord Casillas, isn't this a bit unfair to the Holy Son?"

"Evans, this is the will of my Lord. His Son must endure some hardship so that he may truly grow. Do you intend to disobey my Lord's will?"

The black-robed mage named Evans trembled slightly and immediately retreated, a hint of confusion flashing in his eyes.

Although the sect leader said he wanted to put the Holy Son to a test, wouldn't such a test send the Holy Son away directly?

Wouldn't they be furious if they finally found such a great and generous sect leader?

"The Son will not die; God will watch over him."

Casillas, whose face was covered in colorful patterns, said this.

Less than three seconds later, a spark flashed, a portal opened, and the Ancient One strolled out.

Upon seeing the Sorcerer Supreme appear, Kaecilius and his traitors appeared somewhat flustered.

"Don't panic! So what if it's the Sorcerer Supreme? As long as we work together, even the Sorcerer Supreme can't kill us all before he runs out of magic power!"

Casillas's voice trembled slightly, but he tried to remain calm and encourage his equally fearful subordinates.

Although he was extremely wary of the Ancient One's power, he still had confidence.

As long as the Ancient One doesn't find a new leader, her magical power is limited, and she's destined not to expend too much of her power to deal with them.

But why is there an aura about her that I find repulsive?

"Mage Casillas, your ambition and folly have led you astray."

The Ancient One's voice was calm and majestic, each word like a heavy hammer striking Kaecilius's heart.

"Ancient One, don't put on airs with me. You're no better than me. Do you think I don't know? You've been absorbing the power of the Dark Dimension all along."

"If it weren't for the sect leader's guidance, I would have been completely fooled by your hypocritical facade. Oh, by the way, we've lost contact with the Dark Dimension now, so do you still have the power to deal with me?"

Kaecilius mocked the Sorcerer Supreme with considerable hostility, but the Ancient One's expression remained unchanged, still calm and composed, despite his sarcastic tone.

This sight left Casillas momentarily dazed.

Once upon a time, he was also a worshipper of the Sorcerer Supreme, and he once revered the Ancient One.

But everything changed after the gods disappeared and he made contact with a new sect leader.

The Ancient One's current appearance only made Kaecilius angrier, reminding him of the years when he was deceived.

Casillas's emotions burned like a blazing fire, but his anger and resentment were mixed with a complex mix of feelings: a longing for his past pure faith and anger at the cruel reality.

The Ancient One did not argue, but waved her hand and made space rotate. Space seemed to be distorted by an invisible force, forming a huge vortex that surrounded Kaecilius and his men.

"Mage Kaecilius, you have been consumed by your own desires and ambitions, forgetting your original aspirations and responsibilities as a mage." The Ancient One's voice echoed in the vortex, carrying a hint of pity and determination. "Today, I will make you face your own heart and see clearly what you are truly pursuing."

As the Ancient One finished speaking, the power within the vortex suddenly intensified. Kaecilius and his men felt unprecedented pressure, as if the weight of the entire universe was pressing down on their shoulders.

Their magic seemed so insignificant in the face of this power, like a candle flame in a storm, easily extinguished.

Casillas gritted his teeth, a fierce glint in his eyes, as he channeled his inner magic, attempting to break free of the vortex that bound them.

However, his efforts were in vain, and the vortex's power only tightened its grip on them.

"Kaecilius, give up!" The Ancient One's voice pierced through the vortex, clear and firm. "You can't escape unless you're willing to face your own heart and find true redemption."

Casillas was filled with resentment and anger, but he also knew that continuing to resist would only plunge him into a deeper predicament.

Just then, one of his men, a young and astute black-robed mage, suddenly spotted a subtle opening in the vortex. He quickly relayed the information to Casillas, and the two launched their attack almost simultaneously, using the opening to tear open a crack.

"Run!" Kaecilius shouted, and he and several loyal subordinates seized the opportunity to break out of the vortex and escape the Ancient One's hold.

The Ancient One stood quietly, watching Kaecilius and the others flee, showing neither pursuit nor anger.

Her face showed only a faint sadness and helplessness, as if she had already foreseen all of this to happen.

Gu Yi glanced at the cliff and the scene of Strange's car accident, frowned, but after confirming that the doctor was not dead, he didn't pay any more attention.

With a wave of her hand, sparks flew, and she left.

"Drip drip drip".

As the ambulance siren sounded, the renowned Dr. Strange was placed inside and taken to the hospital to receive emergency care from his less-than-skilled doctors.

He will lose his hands in the future, and the same is true for them now.
