Chapter 202 Midnight

In faraway Europe, Natasha was amidst chaos and war.

She stood on the border of Germania, in a once peaceful town now ravaged by continuous warfare. The sky was shrouded in thick black smoke, with occasional bursts of fire illuminating this desolate and hopeless land.

Natasha gripped her weapon tightly, her gaze resolute and sharp, as if piercing through the chaos to see directly into the heart of the battlefield. Beside her stood a few other agents, equally steadfast in their positions, their faces grave, but their eyes showing no sign of retreat.

"Natasha, how is it?" Xia Ling's anxious voice came through the radio, clear and distinct across the chaotic battlefield.

Natasha quickly scanned the surrounding battlefield, rapidly assessing the situation in her mind.

"The situation is extremely serious, Director. The battle between the Plague Monsters and the Khorne Legion has reached a fever pitch, and both sides are far more powerful than we imagined. The Germanic defenses are crumbling, and if we don't act quickly, the entire region may be engulfed in this disaster."

Her voice was calm and decisive, but even she had to admit that the situation before them had exceeded their expectations.

The plague monsters were like demons crawling out of hell, their twisted bodies covered in disgusting pustules, spewing deadly venom from their mouths, while the soldiers of the Khorne Legion seemed to be driven by fanaticism, fearless of death, born only to fight.

Natasha took a deep breath, trying to remain calm. "We've done our best to maintain the line, but we're severely lacking in manpower and supplies. We need more support, otherwise..."

Before she could finish speaking, a violent explosion interrupted her communication. Natasha swayed, quickly regaining her balance, her eyes fixed intently on the direction of the explosion.

A huge flame shot into the sky, illuminating the already dark sky as if it were daytime.

"Natasha, watch out!" Xia Ling's warning came through the radio again, but it was too late.

Taking advantage of the explosion's cover, a horde of plague monsters surged towards Natasha's defensive line like a tidal wave. Their eyes were filled with a thirst for blood and death, and their twisted bodies seemed to contain boundless power.

Natasha did not back down. She quickly raised her gun and fired, her precise bullets like messengers of death, relentlessly reaping the lives of the monsters. But there were simply too many monsters; she alone could not stop them.

"Support! We need support!" Natasha sent another distress signal to Xia Ling, but she knew in her heart that in this distant battlefield, support might not be able to arrive in time.

She gritted her teeth, her eyes flashing with an indomitable light.

Even in the face of this almost hopeless situation, Natasha did not give up hope. She knew that at this moment, every second of perseverance could be the key to turning the tide of the battle.

"Everyone, prepare for close combat!" Natasha shouted, her voice sounding particularly firm amidst the smoke and chaos.

The agents around him responded quickly; some drew their melee weapons, while others began setting up makeshift traps, preparing for the impending hand-to-hand combat.

The plague monsters drew ever closer, their roars mingling with a pungent stench, creating an atmosphere of indescribable terror.

But Natasha and her team seemed oblivious, their eyes fixed only on the battle and their belief in victory.

When the first wave of monsters stormed the defensive line, Natasha was like an enraged lioness, wielding her melee weapon, each swing accompanied by the monsters' howls and splattering blood.

Her movements were swift and precise, as if every cell in her body was burning with the will to fight. The agents around her were equally formidable, each employing every skill imaginable in a desperate struggle against the monsters.

Some agents successfully used traps to hold back the monster horde, buying their teammates precious time to counterattack, while others used their excellent combat skills to move freely through the monster horde, constantly reducing the number of enemies.

However, the battle remained exceptionally difficult. The number of plague monsters seemed endless; they appeared tireless and insensitive, charging forward with nothing but madness.

Natasha and her team were rapidly depleting their physical strength and ammunition, but they still did not give up.

Just then, the sound of artillery fire suddenly came from afar. Natasha was overjoyed; could it be that reinforcements had finally arrived? She looked up and saw plumes of smoke rising on the distant horizon, accompanied by deafening explosions, as a powerful barrage of fire began to cover the entire battlefield.

"It's reinforcements! Hold on, everyone!" Natasha shouted, her voice filled with excitement and hope. Under the cover of support fire, she and her team began to gradually reclaim lost ground, forcing the plague monsters back step by step.

After a hard-fought battle, Natasha and her team collapsed from exhaustion when the last plague monster fell.

As the smoke of battle gradually dissipated, Natasha and her team collapsed to the ground, panting heavily. Their faces and clothes were covered in mud and blood, but their eyes shone with the joy of victory. Natasha struggled to her feet, immediately grabbed the radio, and eagerly pressed the call button.

"Director Xia Ling, this is Natasha. We have just gone through an extremely difficult battle, but fortunately, reinforcements arrived in time, and we successfully repelled the combined offensive of the plague monsters and the Khorne Legion."

Although Natasha's voice was tired, it was full of determination and pride.

On the other end of the radio, Xia Ling's voice carried obvious doubt.

"Natasha, what are you doing? I only told you to observe, that's all! Why did you go to the front lines?"

Xia Ling's voice echoed through the radio, filled with obvious confusion and reproach: "Natasha, what are you doing? Didn't I just tell you to observe and get a feel for the situation at the front? How could you personally get involved in the fighting? This is completely beyond your mission scope. Do you know how dangerous it is?"

Natasha paused for a moment, then took a deep breath and explained, "Director, I understand your concerns and instructions. But when I see with my own eyes how those plague monsters and Khorne Legion soldiers are ravaging this land and threatening the lives of innocent civilians, I cannot stand idly by. As an agent, I have a responsibility and obligation to protect the people and stop this disaster from spreading."

Xia Ling remained silent for a moment on the other end of the radio, seemingly processing Natasha's explanation.

Then his voice rang out again, tinged with a hint of helplessness and compromise: "Natasha, I understand your courage and determination. But you must understand that your actions could bring unpredictable risks to the entire mission. Next time, no matter what, you must strictly follow my instructions."

Natasha nodded, and although Xia Ling couldn't see it, her tone was full of sincerity: "Yes, Director."

I understand what you mean, but please trust me, I will find a balance between protecting the people and obeying orders. This situation certainly exceeded my expectations, but I promise I will be more cautious next time.

Natasha continued her report to Xia Ling, her voice carrying a barely perceptible heaviness, yet still maintaining her unwavering resolve and composure: "Director, this battle is just the tip of the iceberg. The situation in Europa is far more severe than we initially anticipated. The number of plague monsters is constantly increasing, and their activity range is rapidly expanding, seemingly having found a way to accelerate their reproduction and evolution. As for the Khorne Legion, their morale is exceptionally high, as if some force is supporting them from behind, allowing their combat power to reach unprecedented heights."

She paused, seemingly gathering her thoughts, before continuing, "What's even more worrying is that these two forces seem to be forming a tacit agreement, exploiting each other to jointly threaten the German borders and even the entire continent of Europe. The plague monsters provide chaos and fear on the battlefield, while the Khorne Legion uses this chaos to advance their evil plans. If this trend continues, I fear the whole of Europe will be plunged into an unprecedented crisis."

Natasha's tone revealed deep concern, but she did not forget her duty: "We have done our best to gather intelligence, but the information is still limited. We need more resources and manpower to investigate the true purpose of these two forces and the source of their power. Only in this way can we develop more effective response strategies to protect innocent people from the impact of this disaster."

She reiterated the importance of support: "Director, although this support is timely, it only temporarily relieves our pressure. We must have a long-term, continuous support plan, including the sharing of resources, personnel, and intelligence. Only in this way can we remain invincible in this battle."

Xia Ling remained silent for a long time on the other end of the radio, clearly listening attentively to Natasha's report and considering countermeasures.

He finally spoke, his voice filled with unprecedented determination: "Natasha, your report is very important. The situation is indeed much more complex and severe than we anticipated."

"I will immediately begin preparing a plan to strengthen support, including increasing manpower, allocating more resources, and enhancing intelligence gathering and analysis capabilities. We cannot allow these two forces to continue to run rampant; we must find their weaknesses as soon as possible and deliver a fatal blow."

Natasha felt somewhat relieved after hearing this.

"Director, thank you for your understanding and support. We will continue to stand firm on the front lines and do our best to gather more intelligence to provide a strong basis for formulating response strategies." Natasha's voice revealed firmness and determination.

"Natasha, you've worked hard, but please be sure to stay safe and protect yourselves. Only by ensuring your safety can we have a better chance to save more people," Xia Ling said, her voice filled with concern and a plea for help.

"Understood, Chief. We will remain vigilant and continue our mission while ensuring our own safety," Natasha replied.

Meanwhile, the surrounding battlefield had gradually calmed down, but in Russia, the new Tsar Movsky appeared restless and anxious.

Movsky paced back and forth in the magnificent palace, each step revealing his inner anxiety and unease.

Outside the window, it was nearly midnight. The Moscow night scene was brightly lit, but it could not conceal the undercurrents hidden deep within the city.

"Banner, what does he really want?" Movsky muttered to himself, his eyes flashing with doubt and suspicion.

He recalled the astonishing power Banner had displayed on the Russian border, how those plague monsters were easily crushed like ants before him, a power that could make the whole world tremble.

"Kingpin says he only wants a place, humph, I don't believe it." Movsky sneered, his fists clenching unconsciously.

In this world where might makes right, having power means having a voice, and Banner clearly possesses the power to overturn everything.

"Your Majesty, are you worried that Banner might be a threat to you?" A deep voice sounded behind Movsky; it was his confidant, a shrewd and capable advisor.

Movsky turned around, his gaze sharp as he looked at his advisor: "What do you think? Would someone capable of easily annihilating plague monsters be content with merely staying in one corner?"

The strategist remained silent for a moment, then slowly spoke: "Your Majesty, your concerns are not without merit. However, Banner's current goal seems to be eliminating those plague monsters, rather than expanding his power. Nevertheless, it is always good to be prepared. We can secretly observe his movements while strengthening our own defenses."

"Defense? No, I want the initiative!" A ruthless glint flashed in Movsky's eyes. "We can't sit idly by and wait to be destroyed. We must find a way to check Banner. Whether through diplomacy or other means, we cannot allow his power to threaten our rule."

The strategist nodded slightly, seemingly deep in thought: "Your Majesty, perhaps we could try to establish contact with certain forces in Europe to jointly deal with Banner and the threats posed by those plague monsters and the Khorne Legion. After all, they are also potential enemies of ours."

Upon hearing this, Movsky's eyes lit up: "Great idea! The situation in Europe is equally chaotic. They might also be willing to cooperate with us to jointly resist these external threats. Go and make the arrangements immediately. I need to have a secret meeting with the leaders of Europe."

Before the strategist could leave to receive his orders, Kingpin walked up to Movsky as usual.

Unlike before, this time he showed no respect whatsoever; his eyes were filled with contempt.

Movsky naturally noticed this undisguised attitude, but he wasn't angry. He just wanted to ask Kingpin for his opinion.

"Kingpin, you've come at the right time. We were discussing Banner, and his threat has reached a point where we have to deal with him."

"Your Majesty, I think you no longer need to worry about Banner's threat."

Movsky looked extremely puzzled. What did he mean by saying that he no longer needed to worry about Banner's threat?

Before he could react, his stomach was stabbed through!

"Because you're about to die!"

Movsky stared at Kingpin in disbelief, completely baffled as to why Kingpin would kill him at this moment.

But the excruciating pain reminded him that it was real.

Movsky felt the life force draining from his body, and his cloudy eyes caught a glimpse of the clock; it was midnight!
