Chapter 107 A Newly Renovated New York

Chapter 107 A Newly Renovated New York

I really have to put in both money and effort!

Tony, who was inexplicably dressed in bishop's robes, just wanted to curse. How could things be done like this?

Although Tony was filled with helplessness and bitter smiles, he had to maintain the solemnity and dignity befitting a bishop on the surface.

He looked down at his slightly ill-fitting, ornate bishop's robes. The golden lines shimmered in the sunlight, yet they made him feel a strange sense of constraint and unease.

"This is... even more troublesome than wearing an Iron Man suit."

Tony muttered something under his breath, but his voice was low enough that Coulson, Natasha, and Xia Ling standing beside him could detect a hint of dissatisfaction.

"Tony, even though the church isn't finished yet, the citizens still need a place to pray. Since the statue is there, let the citizens come here to pray. For the sake of New York, you should become the bishop. Anyway, you don't have anything else to do."

Xia Ling's words carried a hint of teasing.

Coulson stepped forward at the opportune moment, patted Tony on the shoulder, and offered him encouragement and support: "Tony, we all need you. Your addition will make our team more complete and will make New York's future even brighter."

"Tony, you're the perfect candidate for this bishop position."

Natasha followed closely behind.

"All this talk of needing something is just them using my influence to promote the Holy Son. In this small corner of New York, is there anyone who doesn't know me?"

Tony's words revealed a hint of self-deprecation and helplessness, but there was nothing he could do. Despite his reluctance, being put in the position of bishop meant that he would have to shoulder a great responsibility.

"Since you value me so much, I'll give it a try."

Tony sighed softly, then changed the subject.

"However, I will not do things in the traditional way. I want to make this church, this new identity, my new stage for protecting New York."

As Tony finished speaking, more than a dozen mech guards flew in from the sky; however, for some reason, they were all dressed in priest's robes.

After hovering in the air for a moment, these mechs slowly landed in the square in front of the church. Their priestly robes swayed gently in the breeze, echoing Tony's bishop's robes, creating an unprecedented spectacle.

"It seems even my steel legion is eager to join this 'sacred' adventure."

Tony's lips curled into a playful smile, his eyes gleaming with cunning.

He walked up to a mecha and gently patted its metal shell, as if greeting an old friend.

"From today onward, you are not only the fruits of technology, but also sacred messengers who protect this city."

Tony's voice resounded throughout the plaza through the mech's built-in loudspeaker, drawing curiosity and amazement from the surrounding crowd.

"Tony is quite creative to combine theology with machinery. It was worth introducing him to the Pantheon."

Xia Ling was somewhat surprised that robots would act as priests; this was truly unexpected, and he didn't know if he could imbue these robots with divine magic.

If possible, it should be done by a living person.

After Tony's armored guards landed in the church square, they quickly and orderly lined up in rows. Although they had no life flame, through precise programming and intelligent simulation, they displayed an atmosphere of piety and solemnity.

The citizens were drawn to this unexpected sight and stopped to watch. Some were surprised, some were curious, and others were filled with awe.

Seeing this, Tony was secretly pleased with the effect of his idea, while also not forgetting to fulfill his duties as bishop.

He slowly descended the steps and walked toward the citizens who had gathered in front of the statue to pray. The mech guards automatically dispersed, protecting them at a distance that was neither too intrusive nor too unsafe.

"Fellow citizens, as you all know, I am Tony Stark, and also the interim new bishop of this church."

Tony's voice was gentle yet powerful, clearly conveyed to everyone through the mech's built-in loudspeaker.

"I know you may not understand why I have a friend dressed in strange clothes and carrying a bunch of machines, but please believe me, we have only one goal: to protect New York and to protect you."

As soon as Tony finished speaking, a murmur and discussion arose from the crowd. Some began to question it, while others expressed understanding, but most were filled with curiosity and anticipation for something new.

"I know that faith is a sacred place in everyone's heart and should not be easily disturbed."

Tony continued, "But in this era, we need to understand and interpret it in new ways. My Jaeger Guardians are not just cold machines; they are the embodiment of technology, a force for protection. They will work with me to bring peace and tranquility to this city."

As he spoke, Tony gestured for one of the mech guards to approach an elderly man praying.

The mech gently crouched down and used its built-in mechanical arm to hand over a warm blanket. The movement was so delicate that it seemed to truly understand human emotions and needs.

This caused a stir among the citizens, who wondered if the bishop and his mecha priests were simply avant-garde.

"It seems I'm doing a pretty good job as bishop."

Tony was secretly pleased with himself, but then his smile faded, and he became more serious and focused.

Tony finally breathed a sigh of relief when he noticed the priests dressed as secret agents who came to help. At least Director Xia wasn't planning to let him do all the work.

"Where did that blind guy and the other guy from your bureau go?"

Tony glanced around but didn't spot the two members he wasn't very familiar with. One of them was supposedly a special employee of S.H.I.E.L.D., comparable to Tony himself as a special advisor.

"Oh, you mean Matt and Hawkeye? They are both indispensable forces, protecting the city on their respective battlefields."

"And today, with you here, Tony, and your Iron Legion, that's enough."

"Even if you say that, I will not continue to allocate funds."

Tony's tone made everyone present laugh; the bishop was surprisingly easy to amuse.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the city, Matt and Hawkeye are helping their senior brother, Amoghavajra, spread Buddhism.

The three collaborated to closely integrate the wisdom of Buddhism with the needs of modern society, identifying precise strategies and creating a series of creative and effective communication methods.

Although there were not as many people as in the Holy Son Hong Xiuqing's place, they had at least secured a place in New York City.

If the Yellow-Eyebrowed Buddha could see this, he would surely be pleased that his heretical teachings could develop into a new market in a foreign land.
