Forests Don't Support Idle Goblins
Chapter 230 Why
Charles watched as the giant golden eagle soared through the air, constantly attacking the flying goblins with its wings, talons, and beak. Although the goblins had grown membranous wings on their backs, they were clearly no match for the giant eagle in the air.
The giant eagle repeatedly dodged the goblins' lightning with its agile rolls, which caused the goblins to hit their own men with their lightning spells.
The cries of eagles echoed from the sky, drawing the goblins on the ground to look up. Baldy's expression grew increasingly grim as he looked, sensing that his team was about to lose. "What's going on with those centaurs? How come they have so many strange things? Powerful magic is one thing, but they can even raise such powerful giant eagles."
Unfortunately, the situation on the battlefield didn't give him time to think. A series of chattering sounds rang out in front of them, and a red-eyed goblin wielding a greatsword charged straight at them.
"Did this guy not even notice the lightning and the exploding trees?" Baldy's eyes widened immediately. He then loudly ordered his men to surround the red-eyed goblin, while he himself quickly retreated.
The red-eyed goblin brandished his greatsword, suddenly accelerating and crashing into the crowd like a cannonball. He shouted incoherent slogans as he swept his greatsword across the front of him, paying no heed to the enemies rushing at him. Even when they threw bone spears at him, he quickly threw them to the ground.
"What's wrong with this goblin?" Baldy said through gritted teeth. "It's so crazy, it doesn't seem like a goblin at all. Do those centaurs have some way of driving them into a state of frenzied bloodlust?"
But then he thought again, if the centaurs on the other side really had such a way to change the goblins' cowardly nature, then what was charging at him should be a group of enemies. "Judging from his figure, he shouldn't be a bear goblin. He's really crazy, he's even wearing iron armor."
As if echoing his suspicions, shouts began to rise from afar. The noise was chaotic and incoherent, making Baldy frown. "Just how many goblins are there?"
Soon, a group of goblins dressed in strange attire charged over, carrying various iron objects, followed by many centaurs. They deliberately avoided getting close to the Feathered Serpent Kingdom's battle group, instead shooting arrows and circling around them, seemingly trying to surround all the enemies.
Baldy's mind raced. Now, due to the interference of the giant eagle, the flying goblins were no longer able to restrain the enemy's ground forces. Moreover, screams kept coming from the sky, and occasionally a goblin would fall from the sky, crashing to the ground with a loud "bang" before turning into a pile of minced meat.
"What should I do?" he pondered, even tapping his forehead, trying to think of a solution quickly. But for some reason, his mind was a complete mess. The screams of his own goblins echoed from not far away, and he even saw the red-eyed goblin sweep away four enemies in front of it with a single horizontal sweep.
"Screech—" A cry of an eagle echoed through the sky. Just as Baldy looked up, the giant eagle flapped its wings and swooped down on the goblins on the ground. Its massive claws, like two iron plows, carved two deep furrows in the ground.
Then, to Baldy's astonishment, the giant eagle rolled on the ground, its golden feathers vanishing and replaced by brown fur. When it suddenly lashed out with its paw, Baldy realized that the giant eagle had transformed into a fat, robust owl-bear.
"Gurgle—" the owl-bear roared, then charged straight at the fleeing goblins like a meatball. Its impact sent many goblins from the Feathered Serpent Kingdom flying.
"What the hell is this?" Baldy stared in astonishment, his mouth agape. He stood frozen in place, surrounded by the screams and shouts of his men. All the goblins were running around like headless flies, but when they reached the outer perimeter, they were met with a barrage of arrows. The centaurs had already quickly surrounded them.
"Is this the enemy the High Priest ordered me to deal with?" Baldy panicked and tried to turn and run away, but he had only taken two steps when he was knocked to the ground by several shouting subordinates. When he tried to prop himself up, he was stepped on again by someone's dirty foot.
"Why?" he screamed, and then his face was stomped on again.
…………
Charles stood on a makeshift wooden platform, surveying the feathered serpent kingdom goblins before him.
These guys were almost all wounded, sitting dejectedly on the ground, not daring to look up at the goblins patrolling around them with iron weapons.
"Looks like there are quite a few," he grinned, and began counting the green heads in front of him.
Before long, Sharl said happily, "There are about 600 goblins now."
If he could recruit them all, combined with the number of his own tribe, that would definitely be enough for 1200 people. Xia Er clenched his fists a few times. "This battle was good. In the future, my subordinates will also be able to independently learn combat skills."
He stood on the high platform, hands behind his back, chest out and head held high, surveying the entire area before proclaiming loudly, "I am the leader of the tribe. You are all now prisoners. Surrender or die?"
After speaking loudly, Charles looked at the goblins of the Feathered Serpent Kingdom with satisfaction. He was waiting for them to line up and perform the ankle-touching salute. "So many people don't know how to greet each other. When will it take them all? Oh well, it's a necessary procedure."
In the forest clearing, the cold winter wind blew incessantly, making the wounded goblins of the Feathered Serpent Kingdom shiver. But none of them stepped forward; they all sat silently on the ground, huddled together for warmth.
"Huh? Nobody here?" Charles waited for over ten seconds, but not a single goblin stood up. He frowned. "Are these guys so arrogant? Not a single one wants to surrender?"
The 600 goblins huddled together silently. Even though people around them kept waving weapons at their heads to intimidate them, no one stood up or even spoke.
"Greenskin, come here." Charles looked to the side, having no choice but to call his men over to ask, "What's going on with them?"
Qingpi ran over quickly, then took a deep breath to catch his breath. However, the wound on his chest had just healed, and the exertion still made him wince in pain. "I don't know, shouldn't they have just bowed?"
Charles frowned and thought for a moment, then Ranran pouted and said, "Ask them who's in charge?"
Soon, Baldy was dragged out. He stood in front of him with his head down, somewhat timid, not daring to look up at Charles.
"Surrender or die?" Charles asked again.
Baldy hesitated for several seconds before whispering, "The people of the Feathered Serpent God will not be slaves."
