Hong Kong film: Rise of Prison Break
Chapter 9 Zhong Chuxiong: I want to learn the "Swaying Willow in the Wind" sword technique
The prison guards who rushed onto the train car shouted nonsense like "Squat down! Give up resistance!" but their hardwood batons didn't stop for a moment, whistling through the air as they pounded down on the guards.
The carriage was cramped, and the shadows of sticks filled almost every inch of the air.
"ah--"
"You bastard!"
The sticks struck the flesh with a dull thud.
An ordinary person would have collapsed to the ground after being hit by such a blow, but Zhang Wenjie only felt as if he had been tickled a few times.
He wasn't exactly made of iron, but after that bizarre enhancement, his endurance far surpassed that of ordinary people.
To cooperate with the prison guards' "energetic" performance, Zhang Wenjie opened his mouth and let out a mournful wail: "They're beating people! The prison guards are beating people!" The sound echoed in the closed carriage, so pitiful that it could move an unsuspecting person.
Just when the prison guards thought they had succeeded, Zhang Wenjie suddenly raised his leg and delivered a side kick.
The movement was so fast that only afterimages could be seen. The prison guard at the front was hit by a truck and flew backward, crashing heavily against the side of the truck before sliding down softly.
A bizarre scene unfolded inside the cramped transport vehicle.
With his hands cuffed, Zhang Wenjie used only his legs to take down the prison guards who rushed at him one by one.
None of the people who went up were able to come down on their own; some were curled up groaning while clutching their stomachs, while others were gasping for breath.
The prison guards who arrived later surrounded the car door, looking at each other in bewilderment, none of them daring to step forward easily.
For a moment, an eerie standoff ensued between the inside and outside of the carriage.
"What are you all standing around for! A bunch of good-for-nothings!"
A loud shout exploded from behind the crowd.
Security chief Zhong Chuxiong, who had just been severely reprimanded by the warden, strode over with a dark expression. His green uniform was stretched taut by his movements, and the fat on his face trembled with each step.
The prison guards parted like a tide, making way for the onlookers.
Zhong Chuxiong yanked open the rear door, and blinding light shone into the dimly lit compartment, illuminating half of Zhang Wenjie's profile.
"Damn it, did he grow up eating shit? He's being played like a fool by a prisoner!" Zhong Chuxiong's gaze swept over his subordinates sprawled on the ground, his anger flaring. "Get the tranquilizer gun! I don't believe he's made of iron!"
A perceptive prison guard quickly handed over a specially made tranquilizer gun. Chung Chu-hsiung snatched the gun, pointing the dark muzzle at Cheung Man-kit.
"I'll remember you." Zhang Wenjie raised his head, a faint, cold smile playing on his lips.
"Bang!"
The anesthetic needle hit the shoulder precisely.
Still not satisfied, Zhong Chuxiong pulled the trigger twice more, injecting all three anesthetics into Zhang Wenjie's body.
"This is the consequence of confrontation."
Zhong Chuxiong tossed the gun to the prison guard next to him, watching as Zhang Wenjie's eyes gradually glazed over and his body went limp.
He stepped forward, grabbed Zhang Wenjie's bangs, forced his face up, and delivered two resounding slaps.
"Slap! Slap!"
The sound was crisp and clear, but it was particularly jarring in front of the quiet carriage.
"I hate handsome pretty boys the most." Zhong Chuxiong spat, released his grip, and let Zhang Wenjie collapse to the ground. "Take him away and lock him in the washroom! I want to personally 'entertain' this new VIP."
The prison guards didn't dare to breathe and quickly raised their hands in salute: "Yes, sir!"
Stanley Prison, Level 2 (basement).
The air here seemed to be permeated with cold, damp moisture, and the corridor, which never saw sunlight, was only illuminated by a few pale fluorescent lights.
Water stains on the wall outlined mottled patterns, and the rust on the iron gate gleamed dark red under the light.
Outside the door of a solitary cell, two prison guards stood like wooden stakes.
The faint sound of a whip whistling through the air, along with suppressed, intermittent groans of pain, could be heard from inside the door.
"Oh dear, this new guy is really unlucky. He offended 'Killer Xiong' right away..." The younger prison guard couldn't help but lower his voice and wink at his colleague next to him.
The older prison guard next to him, a seasoned veteran, nudged him with his elbow and lowered his voice even further: "Shh! Keep quiet. Didn't you see the news? The thug who assaulted the police officer is supposedly a Red Hook member of Tung Sing. There are so many gangs in Stanley, it's none of our business."
He paused, glancing at the tightly closed iron gate, the light and shadows filtering through the crack flickering with the crack of the whip: "Remember, we're the ones who wear these green vests. Just collect your paychecks and behave yourselves. As for what happens inside, listen less, look less, and ask less."
The sound of whips cracked again from inside the door, and the groans gradually faded until they could no longer be heard.
---
Inside a separate cell.
Zhong Chuxiong casually tossed the whip to the ground, the tip of which was stained with a dark red, blood-like liquid—the tomato sauce he had deliberately splashed on it earlier.
He wiped non-existent sweat from his forehead and let out a long sigh of relief.
In a corner of the cell, Zhang Wenjie slowly sat up, his movements so swift that he didn't seem like someone who had just been given three injections of anesthetic.
He walked up to Chung Cho-hung, casually took out a cigarette case from the other man's shirt pocket, flicked one out, and put it in his mouth.
"It's just the two of us here, who are you putting on this act for?" Zhang Wenjie lit a cigarette, took a deep drag, and rolled his eyes at Zhong Chuxiong.
"Damn it! Brother Jie!" Chung Chu-hsiung snatched back his cigarette pack, pulled out a cigarette, lit it, and said irritably, "Look at the situation now! I'm the head of security in Stanley! So many eyes are watching me. If I don't put on a show of authority, do you think those old foxes will respect me?"
He exhaled two smoke rings, leaned closer, and lowered his voice: "But you, one injection of anesthesia would have been enough, why did you insist on making me give you three? Don't you know that there are risks associated with excessive dosages of that stuff?"
"Risk?" Zhang Wenjie scoffed, spitting the burnt-out cigarette butt precisely into the corner of the wall.
He turned around, his right arm muscles bulging slightly, and seemingly casually threw a punch at the wall behind him, which was made of hard granite.
"Bang!"
The dull thud sounded more like a heavy hammer blow than a fist hitting a rock.
Centered on the fist, spiderweb-like cracks instantly spread across the stone wall, emitting a teeth-grinding "crackling" sound. Fine stone dust fell down in a flurry.
Chung Chu-hsiung's mouth was so wide open it could fit an egg, and the cigarette in his mouth almost fell out.
He rubbed his eyes hard, leaned close to the wall, and touched the clear dents and cracks with his fingers, gasping for breath.
"I thought someone had forgotten who pulled him out of the river, who protected him from being taken advantage of by that perverted director of the orphanage, and who gave him the chance to be adopted..." Zhang Wenjie said slowly, his tone calm, but every word struck Zhong Chuxiong's heart.
Chung Chu-hsiung's expression instantly became incredibly interesting, shifting from shock to fear, and finally settling into a fawning smile.
He quickly took out a lighter and relit Zhang Wenjie's cigarette, bending over slightly in the process.
"Hehe... Brother Jie, my good brother! I was just joking with you! We're brothers, aren't we? If it weren't for you back then, I, Zhong Chuxiong, would have been fish-feeding long ago. How could I be where I am today?" He rubbed his hands together, but his eyes couldn't help glancing at the cracked wall. He swallowed hard. "Brother, just give the order, and I'll go through fire and water without hesitation! I wonder... what's your plan this time, brother? I'll serve you faithfully!"
