Hong Kong film: Rise of Prison Break

Chapter 30 Consider the Owner Before Beating the Dog

"In terms of seniority, I'm practically his uncle, just like his boss, Camel! He's a newly appointed communist, he came to Stanley, got into a fight, established his authority, and now he's so arrogant? He didn't even come over to greet me? Does he think I'm some kind of idiot who's invisible?"

He caught his breath, and looking at Jin Yayao, who was clutching his head and looking utterly pathetic, he was even more furious at his lack of backbone. He yelled, "Where's your cigarette?! Have you lost all your senses?"

"Hey... Boss, don't be angry, don't be angry!"

Jin Yayao quickly pulled out a pack of Marlboro cigarettes from his inner pocket, skillfully took one out, and held it to Sha Biao's lips with both hands. He then struck a match and carefully cupped the flame in his hand before bringing it to the cigarette butt.

Sha Biao squinted, lit a cigarette, took a deep drag, and exhaled thick smoke, which seemed to calm his anger slightly.

His hazy gaze pierced through the smoke, once again landing on Zhang Wenjie in the distant corner. He glanced at the group of Hung Hing members staring intently at Zhang Wenjie in the sunlight, a calculating glint in his eyes.

"Boss, calm down," Gold Tooth Yao said with a fawning smile, observing the situation. "Why would you need to get angry with such an ignorant fool? I'll go over there and 'greet' him, let him know who the real boss is in Stanley!"

Sha Biao, with a cigarette dangling from his lips, didn't speak immediately. He simply raised his hand and casually waved it twice at Jin Ya Yao, the meaning of which was self-evident: Go ahead, don't disappoint me.

Jin Yayao perked up, straightened his chest, rubbed his head which had been throbbing from the blow, and put on his signature lewd smile that was a mix of fawning and ruthlessness.

He straightened his prison uniform (though there wasn't much to straighten), and with what he thought was an imposing gait, he swaggered toward the corner where Zhang Wenjie was.

Seeing this, a few of Sha Biao's underlings exchanged glances and followed at a distance, seemingly both to bolster their morale and to wait for the show to begin.

The eyes of many prisoners in the exercise yard were also drawn to it.

The people from Hung Hing stopped talking altogether, and Da Mi's gloomy face even revealed a hint of schadenfreude.

Everyone knows that Silly Biao is one of the most powerful local bullies in Stanley, and no matter how good this new Tung Sing gangster is at fighting, he probably won't have a good time if he doesn't curry favor with them.

Jin Yayao walked up to Zhang Wenjie and stopped.

The sunlight was blocked by his stout body, casting a shadow over Zhang Wenjie as he squatted.

He looked down at Zhang Wenjie, who was still puffing on his cigarette and seemed to be lost in thought, with the same eye he used to appraise the goods.

"Hey, newbie!" Jin Yayao spoke, his voice deliberately raised in a provocative tone, "Don't you know the rules? You see Brother Biao and don't even come over to greet him? What are you doing squatting here like a dead dog?"

Zhang Wenjie seemed to be startled at this moment, and slowly raised his head.

His face was expressionless, his eyes were calm and even somewhat empty. He simply said something, his voice was not loud, but it clearly reached the ears of Jin Yayao and the prisoners around him who had their ears perked up.

"You're blocking my sunlight... and your breath stinks."

Before he finished speaking, he flicked his left finger.

The half-burnt cigarette butt, without a filter, with dark red sparks, shot out like a precisely fired bullet, hitting Jin Yayao's open chest with a "whoosh"!

"Sizzle..." A slight burning sound, accompanied by the smell of burning fabric.

"Damn you..." Jin Yayao was enraged by the sudden burning pain and insult in his chest. He had only uttered half of his curse when he felt an even sharper and more unbearable pain suddenly explode from three inches below his abdomen!

Zhang Wenjie had stood up at some point, his movements so fast it was dizzying.

With his right hand outstretched like a knife, he silently stabbed Jin Yayao in his vital spot the instant Jin Yayao started cursing!

It wasn't a kick, but a more vicious and precise fingertip strike!

"Ugh—!!!" Jin Yayao's cursing stopped abruptly, turning into a short, painful groan as if his neck had been choked.

The ferocity on his face was instantly replaced by extreme pain and shock. His features twisted together, his eyes bulged, his mouth opened wide but he couldn't make a complete sound, and his body arched up like a boiled shrimp.

"If you're going to be a subordinate, you have to act like one."

Zhang Wenjie's voice rang in his ears, cold, steady, and without a trace of anger.

"Who are you, hmm?"

As he spoke, he slightly increased the pressure on the other person's sensitive spot with his finger, and slowly kneaded it.

Jin Yao felt the excruciating pain surging through his nerves like waves, his forehead instantly covered in cold sweat, his legs went weak, and he almost collapsed to his knees on the spot.

His henchmen, seeing this, wanted to step forward, but were frozen in place by a single, indifferent glance from Zhang Wenjie—a glance that held no murderous intent, but rather a chilling indifference.

"Looks like...he's got quite the assets."

Zhang Wenjie even had the leisure to make a comment, his gaze sweeping downwards meaningfully before a mocking smile curled at the corner of his mouth.

"Unfortunately, having capital but no brains is useless."

As soon as he finished speaking, he suddenly raised his free left hand and slapped Jin Yayao's face, which was contorted with pain, with a crisp and loud slap!

"Snapped!"

The sound was loud and particularly jarring in the relatively quiet corner.

Jin Yayao's head tilted to the side from the slap, and he saw stars. His already hunched body staggered backward and almost fell.

"Alright, alright." A cheerful voice rang out at the right moment, breaking the deadlock of this one-sided dominance.

Silly Biao had walked over at some point, his face plastered with his signature, insincere "friendly" expression.

He raised his hand and casually placed it on Zhang Wenjie's right wrist, which was still poking Jin Yayao's vital spot. The force was neither too light nor too heavy, as if it were both a persuasion and a test.

"Ah Jie, right? We're on the same side, we're on the same side!"

Sha Biao chuckled, his eyes narrowing into slits.

"I was ignorant and offended you. Please forgive him this time, for my sake! I will definitely discipline him properly when we get back!"

Zhang Wenjie's gaze met Sha Biao's. Both of them had smiles on their faces, but their eyes were silently exchanging blows.

A few seconds later, the smile on Zhang Wenjie's face widened slightly.

"Since Brother Biao has spoken up himself..." Zhang Wenjie said slowly, but his hand suddenly tightened and clenched!

"Agh—!" Jin Yayao let out a miserable howl that sounded inhuman, and his body convulsed violently.

Then, Zhang Wenjie loosened his grip.

In the instant that Jin Yayao's body completely relaxed and lost its balance due to the excruciating pain, Zhang Wenjie's right fist, like a venomous snake that had been gathering its strength, delivered a short and powerful scoop punch, striking Jin Yayao's soft abdomen and ribs!

"Pfft—whoa!!!"
