Two hours passed quickly.

Tavin surveyed the entire arena, his voice booming: "Eight champions and the top six contestants, prepare yourselves."

Fourteen people stepped forward in response.

"I hereby announce that the second round of the second assessment—the champion challenge—is now beginning!"

Tavin looked at the top six contestants: "You will choose the champion you wish to challenge. Note that once you choose, you cannot change your mind. If multiple people choose the same person, you must discuss and decide who goes first. If you cannot reach an agreement, you will have to settle it through a duel. Remember—each champion can only accept two challenges."

"Now, begin the selection."

The six people exchanged glances, and three of them spoke almost simultaneously:

"I choose Soguli."

"Me too."

"I'll choose him too."

Suoguli frowned deeply. Being chosen by all three at the same time was not a pleasant feeling—they treated him like he was already in their grasp, as if any of them could trample on him.

He secretly vowed: Come on, all of you. If you want to beat me, I'll tear a piece of flesh from you too.

With these three chosen, there are three more remaining.

However, among the other three, apart from Xu Fei, the other two did not rashly choose Suoguli. They were not blinded by their emotions, but instead each chose to challenge the other two champions from the top eight.

As for Xu Fei, his gaze was shifting back and forth between the four finalists—Ellis, Liu Zhen, Wu Sheng, and another person.

He was secretly calculating who he should challenge.

He's already at the fifth level of Body Tempering, so it's almost impossible for him to lose against someone at the fourth level. If he's going to challenge someone, he should naturally choose one of the top four champions to maximize his gains.

The problem is that Iris, Liu Zhen, and Wu Sheng are all at the fifth level of Body Tempering. Being at the same level, it's difficult to gain an advantage in a fight. Moreover, fighting Iris and Liu Zhen would inevitably damage relationships.

They are from the same circle. Although people like them can break up at any time because of interests, even if they were to break up, it wouldn't be now.

After all, the training at the martial arts academy lasts for two months, and there's still a long way to go. Besides, they'll need to stay in touch after the training ends.

His gaze then fell upon Wu Sheng.

To be honest, his instinct was to choose Wu Sheng. From the moment he was stabbed in the outer city settlement, their blood feud was forged. He still remembered the sensation of that stab, and the pathetic sight of him being pinned to the ground.

Even occasionally, in his nightmares, he could clearly recall Wu Sheng's ferocious face.

He tried every means to get rid of Wu Sheng, and every time he seemed to succeed, Wu Sheng would reappear as if nothing had happened.

His brother went to the Hyena Gang's training ground, intending to cripple him; once inside the inner city, he used his connections with the police department to sabotage him. All those tactics seemed to work, but Wu Sheng remained unscathed, climbing step by step from a lowly outcast in the outer city to his current position where even his brother couldn't easily touch him.

He longed to defeat Wu Sheng fair and square in the ring.

But he's not stupid.

He knew his own fighting skills were at a certain level. Both were at the fifth level of Body Tempering, their punching power was similar, but what about their fighting techniques? He remembered Wu Sheng's performance in the last arena match. If it really came down to a fight, he wasn't confident of victory.

He only has one chance to challenge. If he fails, he will lose his qualification to become one of the top eight champions, which means he will lose a week's worth of extra beast meat.

The price was too high; he couldn't afford it, nor did he want to lose it.

Wu Sheng noticed Xu Fei's gaze and met it head-on without flinching.

He was actually hoping Xu Fei would come and challenge him—it would be a perfect opportunity to cripple him.

Unfortunately, Xu Fei wasn't that foolish. Or rather, these people were all incredibly shrewd and profit-driven; they wouldn't act impulsively and recklessly.

Ultimately, Xu Fei still considered his own interests and did not choose Wu Sheng as his opponent. Instead, he chose the champion among the top four who was not at the fifth level of Body Tempering.

At this point, all six had chosen their challengers.

Tavan nodded: "In that case, I declare the challenge to begin."

He looked at the three students who had chosen Suoguli: "You three go first. Only two people can challenge Suoguli, so one of you will be eliminated first. The other two will then decide who goes first."

"You have five minutes. You must give me an answer in five minutes."

The three exchanged a glance.

One of them spoke first: "Stop dawdling and let's see who's the best. To be fair, let's not waste time and energy with some kind of elimination tournament—the three of us will go up into the ring and fight one match. Whoever can't get up first is out. The last one standing among the remaining two will challenge first."

The other two nodded in agreement with the suggestion.

So the three of them went up into the ring and quickly began fighting.

In an instant, fists and feet flew, sparks flew, and neither side was willing to give way.

The three initially only tested each other, but the fight quickly escalated into a full-blown brawl. Whoever gained the slightest advantage was quickly suppressed by the other two working together.

All three were vying for the first challenger's spot—in their eyes, Soguli was the weakest of the top eight, and as long as they were in top form, victory was assured. If they defeated Soguli, they would become the new champions and would be unchallenged. The other two would then lose their chance to challenge, and consequently, their share of the beast meat.

When it comes to extra portions of exotic beast meat, neither side is willing to give up.

But the fiercer they fought, the clearer the audience's understanding became.

These three were blinded by their own involvement, but onlookers saw it clearly—even if a winner was determined through this kind of fighting, the energy expenditure would be astonishing. How could they possibly fight against Suoguli? Even if Suoguli was weak, he was still at the fourth level of Body Tempering. Everyone was at the fourth level; how big could the difference be?

Suoguli watched from below the stage and gradually began to appreciate the nuances.

He had initially thought he was out of the running for the title, but now it seems there might still be a chance.

He turned to look at Zhao Dele, who returned his smile as expected.

This sudden turn of events brought a glimmer of hope, and a look of joy appeared on Suoguli's face. He watched the three men on stage fighting fiercely for the right to challenge him, and he was overjoyed—it was like watching a monkey show.

The three on stage couldn't hear the discussions below. They were already really angry, exchanging punches and kicks, and none of them were willing to back down.

After a fierce battle, two people finally collapsed from exhaustion.

Only one person remained on the stage. His face was bruised and swollen, and he was panting heavily, but he still grinned: "Instructor Tawen, I've qualified, haven't I?"

Tavin's lips twitched involuntarily as he looked at him like this.

He nodded outwardly, but inwardly he was shaking his head.

Is this young man's brain filled with mush?

"In that case, let's begin," Tavan said expressionlessly.
