Xu Fei hesitated for a moment before asking, "Brother, should I also take more potential-enhancing drugs?"

Seeing how quickly Wu Sheng improved, how strong his punches were, and how much he got a share of exotic beast meat, he had long been jealous.

Unexpectedly, Xu Wenbo's face darkened, and he shouted sternly, "No! One a day is enough; any more than that is self-destructive!"

His tone was stern and left no room for argument: "If you want to break through to the Martial Artist level, listen to me and do as I say. Even if the damage from the potential-enhancing potion is partially offset by the meat of a strange beast, it will still cause damage to your body. In my opinion, that Wu Sheng has reached his limit—he absolutely cannot break through to the Martial Artist level, and he may even encounter a bottleneck when he reaches the sixth or seventh level of Body Tempering."

He paused, then patted Xu Fei's shoulder earnestly: "Your training period is only two months. You just need to be slightly above average in terms of performance—in two months, only a very small number of people can break through to the sixth level of Body Tempering. As long as you don't break through to the sixth level, the difference in punching power between the fifth level of Body Tempering won't be too significant. So you don't need to think about so many unnecessary things. On the path of a martial artist, you must never be greedy for momentary gains, or you will only ruin yourself prematurely."

"I've already planned your path. As long as you follow my instructions, your chances of becoming a martial artist are very high."

Xu Wenbo's voice lowered, tinged with emotion: "Your brother is ruined; I'll never become a martial artist in this lifetime. But you're different. With me paving the way for you, you can avoid many detours. Once you become a martial artist, you can bring our parents to live with us in the inner city. Only then will you truly have a firm foothold."

"I've known quite a few people in the inner city over the years. With your qualifications, if you really become a martial artist, I might be able to find a way to introduce you to a woman from a collateral branch of a noble family—once you get married, you'll truly rise to prominence."

These words revealed Xu Wenbo's many schemes. At this moment, he was exactly the kind older brother who cared about his younger brother.

In fact, he was. Ever since Xu Fei entered the inner city, he had been trying to pave the way—giving him everything he could: exotic beast meat, potions, and connections.

Xu Fei's eyes welled up with tears, and he nodded vigorously.

His brother was really good to him.

"Alright, you can go back now," Xu Wenbo said. "I'll figure out how to handle Wu Sheng's situation."

Xu Fei responded and turned to leave.

……

Evening, police station.

Kunlong finished work and was about to leave when Xu Wenbo approached him.

The two went to a nightclub.

The venue was resplendent with gold and dazzling colors, filled with deafening music and cheers. But Xu Wenbo didn't linger outside; he led Kunlong straight into a quiet private box.

"Captain Kun, please have some tea." Xu Wenbo smiled and poured him a cup.

Kunlong grinned, spread his legs, and leaned back on the leather sofa, saying casually, "Hey, Xu Wenbo, you bastard—you brought me to a place like this to treat me to tea? We're already here, aren't you going to make me feel comfortable?"

Xu Wenbo smiled and said, "Captain Kun, don't worry, I'll definitely arrange this small matter properly for you."

He paused, then casually brought it up: "But before we enjoy ourselves, we should take care of business first, right? Captain Kun, how did the favor I asked you to do last time go? I haven't had a chance to ask yet."

Upon hearing this, Kunlong narrowed his eyes.

But the next second, he resumed his usual smiling face: "Xu Wenbo, of course I'll do what you asked me to do. Do you think I, Kunlong, am the kind of person who doesn't keep his promises?"

Xu Wenbo frowned slightly: "But I heard that kid is perfectly fine?"

"All right?" Kunlong's voice suddenly rose, his face full of confusion. "What a joke! How could he be all right? I punched that kid so hard he couldn't even stand up. I reckon he must have suffered some internal injuries—a lot of people saw it."

What he said was indeed true. At the time, Wu Sheng was pale, clutching his stomach, looking like he was about to be beaten to death, which was seen by many people.

How could he possibly leave any clues when he does things?

Since we've already taken Xu Wenbo's money, even if we don't get things done for him, we should at least make sure everything is arranged properly—otherwise, who will come to him next time?

However, he had Wu Sheng cooperate in that performance, both openly and secretly. And the young man was quick to understand, immediately grasping his meaning.

Xu Wenbo's brows furrowed even deeper.

Kunlong's words didn't seem like a lie. You can easily find out the truth of such things by asking around—whether Wu Sheng was really beaten back then, you can find out with just a few questions.

But if he was beaten, and not badly, why was he still able to make rapid progress in the martial arts academy?

"Could it be that they used some kind of powerful tonic?" Xu Wenbo wondered to himself.

He had heard that Wu Sheng had been rescued by a teacher and his men. Could it be that the teacher had helped him?

There are many possibilities. Taking large amounts of potential-enhancing drugs could indeed unleash potential and rapidly heal injuries…

After thinking for a while, Xu Wenbo could only attribute the cause to this.

He looked up, a smile returning to his face, and raised his teacup with both hands: "Captain Kun, it seems I misheard. I'll offer you this tea as an apology."

He paused, then added meaningfully, "If you need anything in the future, just come to your brother. I promise I'll take care of everything perfectly. But... these things always take a little thought, and sometimes it can be quite troublesome."

As he spoke, he held up three fingers and rubbed them together.

Xu Wenbo understood immediately and smiled, "Of course, I get it."

He pressed a button on the table.

A moment later, the door to the private room was pushed open, and a waiter-like man led in several young women. They were scantily clad, had alluring figures, and each possessed a unique charm.

"Captain Kun, these are all prepared for you. Please choose whatever you like," Xu Wenbo said.

Kunlong's eyes lit up, and he laughed, "Then Brother Xu, I'll gladly accept it."

Xu Wenbo stood up: "Captain Kun, I have other matters to attend to, so I won't stay any longer."

"Do as you please," Kunlong waved his hand.

Xu Wenbo nodded and turned to leave.

Kunlong casually picked out two girls and put them in his arms, one on each side.

He watched Xu Wenbo's departing figure, a cold smile appearing on his face.

"Damn, this guy is really different from before."

He used to be at least somewhat sensible, knowing to bring out something valuable. But now—having done well under the nobility, he's starting to think he's superior and looks down on me?

Are you trying to fool me with this shabby place?

Can't I come to a place like this? Can't I just order whatever I want?

They give beggars junk every day.

"Does he really think he's someone important? He's just a dog under the nobility. What's there to be proud of?"

Kunlong spat, turned around, and kissed the woman next to him hard on the cheek.

Who cares—enjoy it first.
