Chapter 84 Arrival

"Is that enough?"

Wilson nodded. "That's enough. Every piece of information you provided matches up."

The warehouse was silent for a few seconds.

"Then our transaction is complete."

After saying that, Paul got up and walked towards the corner of the warehouse.

There, Lily was sleeping wrapped in a blanket, while Maggie sat beside her, holding a modified rifle and watching them warily.

Hicks lay further inside, his body wrapped in bandages, and he looked to be recovering well.

Paul walked over to Lily, bent down, and gently patted her shoulder.

Lily opened her eyes groggily, saw Paul, and a smile appeared on her lips.

"dad----"

"He's gone." Paul's voice was soft, but Wilson heard it clearly.

Lily sat up and rubbed her eyes. Maggie also stood up and slung a worn-out backpack over her shoulder.

The four people walked towards the warehouse entrance.

As Paul passed Wilson, he stopped and turned his head.

"Thanks. Although I don't know who you are or where you're from, I still want to express my gratitude."

Wilson leaned against the wooden crate and looked at him.

"What's the rush?"

Paul didn't reply, he just kept walking out.

Wilson's voice came from behind.

Where are you planning to go?

Paul paused for a moment.

"have no idea."

"Then why don't you stay?"

The warehouse was silent for a moment.

Paul turned around and stared at Wilson.

"Stay? Stay in this run-down town?"

Wilson stood up, walked up to Paul, and stared intently at him.

"Not this town, but come with me. We're going to a place to meet someone."

Paul paused for a few seconds. "You want us to risk our lives for you?"

Wilson shook his head. "It's not about risking your life, it's about cooperation."

The warehouse fell completely silent.

Maggie looked at Paul, her eyes questioning.

Lily also looked up at Paul.

"I'm sorry, right now I just want to live the life I want."

Although Paul refused, Wilson wasn't angry. He simply nodded and watched them leave.

As the four people disappeared outside the door, the metal door shook and made a dull thud.

Cheng Hongtu stepped out of the shadows and stood beside Wilson.

"Boss, are we just going to let them go like that?"

Wilson didn't turn around, but just stared at the door, then let out a soft hum.

"What a pathetic person, believing in God his whole life, yet not knowing what he is believing in."

"Cheng Hongtu, let's go, it's time to get to work."

In the following period, Wilson did not continue his operations. Apart from occasionally using drones to scan and collect intelligence within the Holy City, he secretly established a camp in an abandoned town 70 kilometers away from the Holy City.

This town was originally a transit point for supplies from the Holy City to the outside world.

However, due to the victory in the war against the vampires, and in order to consolidate its own power and avoid the increasingly harsh environment outside, the Holy City began to drastically reduce its external stations, and this place was abandoned.

Today, this abandoned site is quietly changing.

Time flies.

The time portal opened for the second time.

"Haha, I knew it, Wilson, you wouldn't die."

Amidst a spatial distortion, Malen appeared first.

Seeing Wilson greeting him, he immediately hugged him tightly.

"How are you? Did you encounter any danger?"

"It's alright, everything's fine. How's the officer?"

"The boss had something to do, so he called me over first. He'll come in person once the space-time portal has stabilized."

Upon hearing what Mullen said, Wilson immediately nodded.

"Alright, enough talk, brothers, let's get to work."

After a brief exchange of pleasantries, Mullen waved his hand dismissively.

Because the second time portal opened for 10 minutes, all members of the Wild Wolf Squadron arrived this time, bringing with them a large amount of supplies.

With Mullen's help, Wilson divided the arriving members into three groups.

One group was responsible for cleaning up the dilapidated houses in the town that had collapsed halfway, picking out the usable building materials and smashing the unusable ones to fill the pits.

A group of people, carrying power tools and welding equipment, went to reinforce the relatively intact warehouses and factories.

The last group, led by Cheng Hongtu and Kirk, began setting up makeshift sensors and camouflaged warning lines along the outskirts of the town.

No one was slacking off, and no one was talking; there was only the noise of tools at work and the occasional brief instruction.

It was already dark, but the town was brightly lit.

Dozens of high-powered lights shone down from all angles, illuminating every corner as bright as day.

Under the lights, shadows swayed, and sparks from the welding torch flickered in the shadows.

In the days that followed, the town changed even faster.

The sounds of welding, cutting, and heavy equipment moving are almost constant, 24 hours a day.

But all of this activity was strictly confined to the town.

From the outside, this abandoned town still looks the same as ever.

The half-collapsed house is still collapsed, the rusted tin shed is still leaning, and the weathered signboard is still swaying in the wind.

Only by getting very close can you see the fresh weld marks in some corners, or an inconspicuous section of metal pipe protruding from the corner of the wall.

But those traces will be covered up in less than two days by the sandstorm.

Seven days have passed, and the town has been completely transformed, inside and out.

The streets have been redesigned, and several main roads have been widened and compacted, large enough for two armored vehicles to drive side by side.

The alleyways were cleared and accessible in all directions, but key intersections were equipped with retractable metal barricades and concealed firing positions.

All buildings have been reinforced, with steel plates sandwiched in the walls, bulletproof windows replaced, and roofs covered with composite materials that can withstand ordinary artillery fire.

Several core warehouses were transformed into integrated fortifications, with material warehouses and equipment maintenance areas on the lower level and living quarters and command center on the upper level, connected by reinforced staircases and ziplines.

The power supply system uses a high-density battery pack in conjunction with a diesel generator, which is hidden in a cleared cellar, and the outside has been soundproofed and heat dissipated.

The water purification system draws water directly from underground, and after multiple layers of filtration and disinfection, it is enough to supply two hundred people.

The surrounding sensor array is all in place, with multiple sensors layered on top of each other, including earthquake, sound, infrared, and magnetic field sensors, covering a five-kilometer radius around the town.

Several observation posts at high vantage points have also been built. They look like piles of weathered rocks on the outside, but they contain all-weather observation equipment and communication antennas inside.

From the outside, the entire town still looks like a dilapidated ruin.

But inside, it had become a fully equipped military fortress, armed to the teeth.

Then came the third, fourth, and fifth opening of the time portal.

However, Murphy still did not appear on these three occasions.

Fortunately, as the opening time increases, the amount of goods that can be transported over also increases.

Six Humvees, four troop carriers equipped with heavy machine guns and reactive armor, and two armored vehicles converted from heavy truck chassis.

Four heavily modified "Eagle" light helicopters painted in gray-black camouflage.

And hundreds of new versions of the Raven drones.

Of course, there were also more than 100 new recruits in the Wild Wolf Squadron who were selected by Skynet during this period.

Although these recruits are not as battle-hardened as the veterans, they have all been selected by Skynet and, with Murphy's consistent "care," each one of them can be described as utterly loyal.

In addition, there are various containers, including but not limited to ammunition, medical supplies, food, steel of various specifications, and servers used to carry Skynet.
