Becoming an Emperor Starting from the World of The Wandering Earth
Chapter 56 Please help me.
When people are in dire straits, they crave a powerful "savior" even more and will frantically grasp at any glimmer of hope to survive.
Only then will a faith response ten or a hundred times stronger than it is now be generated.
Let things get chaotic, the more chaotic the better.
Only when the water is murky enough can this fanged fish grow faster and take advantage of the chaos to swallow more "bait" that it wouldn't normally dare to touch.
As the car entered the factory area, the familiar lights and the roar of machinery filled the air.
Of course, this cannot be rushed, and Betty alone cannot do it, so he needs more "friends".
With this thought in mind, Murphy opened his eyes, and the trace of weariness in them completely disappeared.
"Wilson".
"Yes, sir."
"After returning, notify the Production Research Department to increase the production progress of the simplified exoskeleton and the Raven Type 2 by another 30%."
"Yes, sir."
"Also, tell those black market customers that the next batch of goods can be delivered ahead of schedule, and this time there are even bigger ones. I want Houston, I want Texas to boil over."
Wilson glanced at Murphy in the rearview mirror, asked no further questions, and simply replied, "Understood, sir."
The car slowly came to a stop in front of the three-story building.
Back in his office, Murphy twisted his neck.
"Skynet, send an invitation to Owen and the others. Tell them that the shelter is taking shape and I'd like to invite them to visit and see if they have any suggestions."
..............................
In this awful environment, everyone is struggling to fill their stomachs.
But in the mines forty miles south of Houston, a bustling scene unfolds, with heavy trucks and hundreds of workers constantly battling the elements.
Now, Murphy is leading Owen, Sophia, Mia, and Thomas along a makeshift passage at the edge of the mine.
Above is a reinforced steel-framed dome, with a high-powered light hanging at intervals, illuminating the entire underground space.
Underfoot was a newly paved cement floor, and on the rock walls on both sides, every few dozen meters a ventilation duct interface under construction could be seen, with thick cables extending along the rock walls into the depths.
"This scale..." Thomas looked around and couldn't help but click his tongue. "Murphy, how many people are you planning to hide here?"
Murphy smiled and didn't stop walking.
"A shelter, of course, should be as big as possible. At the current pace, once it's all completed, the main area can accommodate about three thousand people. With storage, life support, and energy modules, even if we squeeze in, five thousand people can hold out for a while."
Irving's gaze shifted from the steel frame overhead to Murphy's back.
"Five thousand people," he repeated the number. "Can you afford to support them?"
Murphy turned around and replied as he walked away, "Uncle Owen, we'll have to rely on everyone's help now."
He pointed to the construction workers around him.
"These people are all long-time employees of my factory, and their loyalty is not an issue. Once the shelter is built, their families will move in in the second batch, and the first batch will naturally be you all."
Everyone glanced at him with a smile, but said nothing.
The five people walked along the passage for another ten minutes or so, passed through a doorway where an explosion-proof door was being installed, and entered a relatively open area.
This area is clearly finished; the ground is level, the walls have been painted, and the overhead lights are much denser than in the previous passageway.
Boxes of supplies were piled up against the wall, covered with tarpaulins, and labels such as compressed biscuits, drinking water, and medical kits could be vaguely seen on them.
Murphy stopped and turned to look at the four of them.
"Everyone, this is pretty much the main area. There are still storage areas and equipment rooms behind it, but they're under construction and very dusty, so I won't take you there."
Irving nodded, his gaze still lingering on the supply crates.
"And this batch of goods..."
"Oh, some of these I saved myself, and some I bought from the black market." Murphy didn't hide anything. "Not much, but it should be enough to get through the initial stage. Once the vertical farm's production capacity increases, we can store even more here."
Thomas walked over to a box of supplies, lifted a corner of the tarpaulin to take a look, then put it down and turned away.
"Murphy, you didn't invite us here today just so we could have a tour, did you?"
Murphy looked at him and smiled.
"Uncle Thomas is indeed very perceptive."
He took two steps to the side and gestured with his hand.
"Everyone, please follow me. There's a place here that I'd like you to take a look at."
The four exchanged glances, asked no further questions, and followed Murphy deeper into the area.
After passing through a newly installed metal door and walking a short distance down a corridor, Murphy stopped in front of a wall that looked no different from the rest of the room.
He pressed a button on the wall, and a hidden door slid open silently.
Inside was a small room, about thirty square meters, completely empty except for a light shining from the ceiling.
Irving's brow furrowed slightly.
"This is……"
Murphy stood to the side in the doorway and gestured for them to enter.
"Everyone, let's go inside and talk."
The four stood at the doorway, their gazes sweeping across the empty room before settling on Murphy's face.
Sophia was the first to speak: "Murphy, what are you up to?"
Murphy's smile remained unchanged; he simply repeated the gesture.
"Aunt Sofia, you'll see when you go inside."
The room was silent for two seconds.
Thomas suddenly chuckled and stepped inside.
"Fine, I'll see what you're up to."
He walked into the room, turned around, crossed his arms, and looked at the doorway.
Irving, Sofia, and Mia exchanged a glance and followed them inside.
Murphy was the last to go in, and the hidden door closed silently behind him.
Only five people and the pale white light above their heads remained in the room.
Irving's gaze swept around the room before landing on Murphy's face.
"Alright, get to the point. What is it that you have to discuss here?"
Murphy didn't answer immediately, but just looked at them, and then the smile on his face slowly faded.
"Everyone, thank you for your care over the past year."
His voice wasn't loud, but it was very clear in the empty room.
"If it weren't for your help, Mo's Energy wouldn't be where it is today. I will remember this kindness."
Irving's brow furrowed even more.
"Murphy, you..."
Before he could finish speaking, a hidden door behind him suddenly slid open.
All five people turned around at the same time.
Before anyone knew it, Wilson was standing in the doorway, with four equally armed members of the wolf pack, all wearing exoskeletons, behind him.
Each person was holding an M17A2, with the muzzle pointed directly at them.
Upon seeing this, Thomas's pupils contracted sharply, and he instinctively took a step back. "Murphy! What do you want to do?!"
"Everyone, don't be nervous. Uncle Owen, Uncle Thomas... I have a question for you, are we friends?"
Murphy's voice remained calm as always, "If you're friends, I'd like to ask you for a favor, a favor that would benefit everyone."
Irving stared at him for several seconds before finally squeezing out a few words through clenched teeth.
"What kind of help?"
