Yu-Gi-Oh!: Worldwide Mix, the Ultimate Necromancer Duel

Chapter 17. Still thinking about winning or losing?

Hai Zhi's gaze swept back and forth over the four face-up cards, and he frowned.

Why do some people fold so many cards at the start of the game?

bluff?

However, that's all.

He quickly regained his composure.

After all, what tricks could such a young duelist possibly pull off that even the dojo's top disciple had never seen before?

Even the most ingenious trap requires sufficient skill to master.

Not to mention, he knew most of the cards the other party chose.

Therefore, it shouldn't cause any major problems.

He took a deep breath, clearing his mind of distractions, and his fingertips landed heavily on the top of the deck.

"Well then... it's my turn!"

"Draw a card!"

The newly acquired card traced an arc as it was held firmly between his fingers.

Upon seeing the card clearly, Hai Zhi couldn't help but smile upwards, a smile that was almost cruel and confident of victory.

"Heh heh, not bad luck." He chuckled and slammed the card onto the Duel Disk without hesitation. "Activate the Spell Card—[Bitter Choice]!"

A twisted purple vortex began to spin on the card, emanating an ominous aura.

"I'll pick five cards from my deck and show them to you," Hai Zhi said mockingly. "Then, you can choose one of those five cards to add to my hand. As for the rest..."

He deliberately dragged out his words, his gaze fixed on You Chen: "They will all be sent to the cemetery."

"Haha, Senior Brother's first move is 'Bitter Choice'! This game is in the bag!"

"This is a painful choice for the opponent! This kid's in big trouble!"

"Grave construction activated! Senior Brother, finish this battle in one minute!"

Upon seeing this, the disciples and regular customers in the dojo burst into cheers, as if they could already see You Chen's crushing defeat.

In their view, with the key cards precisely chosen by Bitter Choice, Hai Zhi's tactical system will take shape instantly, and the outcome will be a foregone conclusion.

On the other side of the field, You Chen was clearly stunned for a moment when he saw the card being activated.

Hai Zhi took in this moment of surprise, and felt even more delighted.

Sure enough, you were scared, weren't you? Such powerful and domineering magic cards exert tremendous psychological pressure on novice duelists.

However, You Chen's next reaction was completely unexpected.

You Chen blinked, his expression somewhat strange.

Then I couldn't help but burst out laughing.

"Huh? Bitter?" You Chen laughed and shook his head, tears welling up in his eyes. "This is hilarious... Is there really such a good thing?"

Hai Zhi: "..."

His smile froze, and his brows furrowed: "What are you laughing at?"

You Chen finally managed to stop laughing, wiped his eyes, and said seriously, "It's nothing, I just suddenly thought of something happy."

As soon as he finished speaking, the relaxed smile in his eyes was instantly replaced by a sharp, knife-like glint.

"At this very moment, I'm going to unleash a chain reaction of cards on the field!"

He flicked his arm, pointing to the face-down card on the far left of his back row. The card flipped over, revealing a pale soul being drawn into the abyss by an unseen force!

"Continuous Trap Card activated—[Necromantic Temptation]!"

The whirring sound of the trap card activating was sharp and piercing, and a semi-transparent, pale white halo spread out from the card, enveloping the entire field.

"The effect of this card is very simple," You Chen's voice was clear and cold, like a judge pronouncing a verdict, "Every time a card is sent to the graveyard, whether by effect, battle or any other means, each card will cause its owner—that is, you—to suffer 300 points of damage."

"What?!"

Hai Zhi was jolted, and his pupils suddenly contracted!

Not only him, but all the cheers and discussions around him were cut off abruptly!

"You f***ing...!" Hai Zhi blurted out, "You actually brought this kind of card?! I didn't see it..."

He abruptly stopped speaking, his face instantly turning extremely ugly.

"You didn't see it, did you?" You Chen finished his sentence for him, a knowing, mocking smile playing on his lips. "You mean, you didn't see me choose this card in the security footage, right?"

"Heh, I noticed those inconspicuous little gadgets in your gym's card selection area a while ago." You Chen's voice wasn't loud, but it clearly reached the ears of everyone present.

"You think you're being discreet, spying on challengers' card selections through surveillance, and then having your disciples build decks specifically to counter them, all to maintain that pitiful win rate and prize pool."

"So, I used a little trick when choosing cards." You Chen tapped the edge of the Duel Disk lightly with his fingers. "Double flip, a trick to deceive, deliberately showing some unimportant useless cards in front of the camera, while the cards I actually needed were underneath the useless cards, and then I replaced some cards at the end... So you can probably guess less than half of my deck composition through the monitoring."

"And what you might not expect is that I selected some cards earlier that were intentionally designed to weaken your deck, just to lead you to choose a graveyard deck."

"Because when you realize I'm trying to reduce card count, you'll definitely choose to fill the graveyard, which perfectly counters my card reduction strategy."

"But you never imagined that what I was waiting for was to build your grave!"

He had clearly turned the tables on Haizhi and had him completely under his control.

You Chen's words were like a boulder thrown into a calm lake!

With a sudden roar, everyone present who wasn't a disciple of the dojo erupted in chaos!

"Holy crap?! So card selection isn't absolutely fair after all?!"

"There's even CCTV footage?! You son of a bitch! I knew it! Every time I play, my deck gets completely countered by theirs!"

"This is a rip-off! Give me my money back!!"

"This guy is amazing! If he hadn't exposed us, we would have been kept in the dark and made fools of!"

The scene erupted in chaos, with shouts of doubt and anger rising and falling, turning the once orderly dojo into a frenzy. Many challengers who had previously lost money were filled with righteous indignation, glaring angrily at the dojo's disciples.

Hai Zhi's face was so gloomy it was almost dripping with water. He had never expected that the other party would not only see through their tricks, but also turn the tables and use the blind spots of the surveillance to set up such a deadly trap!

"Wait!!" Hai Zhi suddenly raised his voice, trying to quell the chaos. He pointed at You Chen and shouted, his voice trembling with fear, "Words are meaningless! What evidence do you have?! You've tarnished our dojo's reputation; you'll be held accountable!"

He forced himself to calm down and steered the conversation back to the duel itself: "Now, let's finish this duel first! If you win, maybe people will listen to what you say! But if you lose—"

His eyes were fierce: "You must publicly apologize for your slander and compensate our dojo for all the losses!"

Faced with Hai Zhi's threat, You Chen smiled again.

"Still thinking about winning or losing?"
