Chapter 36 Unlocks the Vendor Profession
Qian Cheng's place was deserted. Occasionally, someone would come over to ask about the price, but as soon as they heard it was more expensive than Zhang Changtian's place, they would turn around and leave.
Seeing this, Zhang Mingxi became anxious and whispered, "What are you doing? Everyone's gone to my dad's place."
"Don't rush, let them buy it."
Qian Cheng wasn't in a hurry. He kept sending people to quote prices, and each item was a penny more than Zhang Changtian's.
About an hour later, Zhang Changtian had almost sold out of his furniture. Of the more than forty pieces, only three or four remained, and the crowd gradually dispersed.
At this point, Qiancheng began to lower its prices.
"Stools are only one cent! Chairs are two cents! Don't miss out, it's a year-end clearance sale, come and take a look!"
That shout brought the person back in no time.
Those who missed out earlier rushed over when they heard about the price drop.
"This stool costs one cent?"
"Yes, one cent."
"Wasn't it just Sanmao?"
"That was just now, the price has been reduced now."
"Give me two!"
"I want this chair!"
People were packed together, hand in hand, Qian Cheng was collecting and giving change, and Zhang Mingxi was handing things over, they were so busy they barely had time to breathe.
In less than half an hour, all forty or so pieces of furniture at Qiancheng's place were sold out.
Congratulations! You have unlocked the Vendor profession!
[Street Vendor (Newbie) lv.0: 0/10]
You've learned to find opportunities in buying and selling, but you still have a long way to go before becoming a shrewd merchant.

A notification flashed before my eyes.
Qian Cheng was secretly delighted. He had unlocked another new career.
He didn't have time to look closely and continued collecting money and giving change.
The last stool was sold, and Qian Cheng counted the money in his hand; it was seven yuan in total.
Twenty-five stools, one cent each, which is two yuan and fifty cents.
Fifteen chairs, two cents each, that's three yuan, totaling exactly five yuan and fifty cents.
Adding the eight or nine yuan from Zhang Changtian's side, it's at least fourteen or fifteen yuan.
Zhang Mingxi was panting heavily, but her eyes were bright: "Is it all sold out?"
"Sold out." Qian Cheng breathed a sigh of relief.
Zhang Changtian walked over, clutching a handful of money, his face crinkling with a deep smile.
"You're something else, kid." He looked at Qian Cheng. "Where did you learn that trick from?"
Although Qian Cheng lowered the price and made a little less profit, if you don't bargain, he's guaranteed to sell out before the market ends. Selling half of it would be considered good.
Even though the price of the car has been reduced, there is still room for profit.
In response to Zhang Changtian's praise, Qian Cheng chuckled and said, "I just made that up myself."
The man who had bought a stool nearby hadn't left yet. Hearing this, he came over and asked, "Young man, are you from the same business? Yours is cheaper, his is more expensive. Are you helping him sell?"
Qian Cheng laughed: "Brother, as long as you bought it, why worry about so much?"
The older brother thought for a moment and then smiled: "That's true, anyway, I bought it cheaply."
A woman next to me chimed in, "I bought mine over there for three mao. I heard it was two mao here, and I thought I was getting ripped off. Turns out you're from the same company."
The group chatted and laughed before dispersing.
Qian Cheng counted the money he had collected and handed it to Zhang Changtian: "Master, this is the total of five yuan and fifty cents I just made here."
Zhang Changtian took it, didn't even count it, and just put it in his pocket.
"Let's go eat. We're in a good mood today, let's go out to a restaurant."
Zhang Mingxi looked at Qian Cheng, her smile widening. The man she had her eye on was truly remarkable.
The three of them found a small restaurant, ordered three bowls of noodles, and Zhang Changtian also ordered two ounces of liquor to warm themselves up.
"Chengzi," Zhang Changtian took a sip of wine, "your brain is the only one that works well for someone as old as me."
Qian Cheng smiled and said, "Master, you're too kind. I was just thinking about it randomly."
"You're not just daydreaming, you're doing business. I've been a carpenter and a furniture seller for so many years, and this is the first time I've ever seen a business like this."
He paused, then said, "From now on, we'll work together, you do the cooking, and I'll sell... no, you sell."
Qian Cheng said, "Master, I still have to take the college entrance exam."
"It won't interfere with your college entrance exams. You can work on it during your holidays, and your tuition fees will come from here in the future."
Zhang Mingxi listened from the side, feeling secretly pleased.
After dinner, the three of them strolled around the market again. Zhang Changtian bought some New Year's goods, including pork, vermicelli, kelp, and candy, filling two large bags. Zhang Mingxi bought Qian Cheng a new pair of socks, saying that he should wear them for the New Year. Qian Cheng tried to pay her, but she refused.
"This is a gift for you." Zhang Mingxi puffed out her cheeks, looking like she would get angry if Qian Cheng didn't accept it.
Qian Cheng looked at her, feeling a warmth in his heart.
As noon approached, the market began to thin out. Zhang Changtian drove his tractor, carrying two people and a load of New Year's goods, chugging back home.
On the way, Zhang Mingxi leaned on Qian Cheng's shoulder.
Qian Cheng felt the beautiful woman in his arms as the tractor chugged along. The heavy snow in the middle of winter was a bit cold on his face, but Qian Cheng didn't feel cold.
The second to last day of the Lunar New Year, the 28th day of the twelfth lunar month.
With the end of the year fast approaching, every household in the village is busy preparing.
People were sweeping houses, steaming buns, and killing chickens; everywhere was filled with the festive atmosphere of the New Year.
Qian Cheng's family was no exception.
Hou Yufen got up early in the morning and busied herself, tidying up the house inside and out. She changed the sheets on the kang (a heated brick bed), cleaned the windows until they shone, and even washed the stove with alkaline water. She swept the snow in the yard clean and piled it under the wall, waiting for it to melt in the spring.
Qian Cheng sat on the kang (a heated brick bed), basking in the sun by the window. His leg was almost healed, and he could walk without limping, but he still couldn't do heavy work.
Hou Yufen wouldn't let him move, so he sat and read, occasionally handing Hou Yufen something.
I was reading a book when I heard a noise outside the courtyard gate.
Is anyone there?
It was a man's voice, and it sounded somewhat familiar.
Hou Yufen peeked out from the outer room and glanced into the courtyard; her expression immediately changed.
"Who is it?" Qian Cheng asked.
"Your eldest uncle," Hou Yufen said in a low voice, "and your eldest aunt."
Qian Cheng paused for a moment, then put down his book.
Uncle?
From as far back as he could remember, he didn't have much contact with his uncle's family. The two families lived not far apart, but they only saw each other a few times a year. During the Lunar New Year, Hou Yufen would take him and Qian Lu to pay a visit, but they would only stay for a few minutes before leaving.
What are they doing here during the Chinese New Year?
The courtyard gate was pushed open, and my uncle and aunt walked in.
My uncle was carrying a basket covered with a blue cloth, and my aunt followed behind, looking around with her eyes wide open as if she were seeing something amazing.
"Is your sister-in-law home?" The eldest uncle shouted as he entered the courtyard.
Hou Yufen wiped her hands and went out to greet them, forcing a smile: "Big brother and sister-in-law are here? Come in quickly."
My uncle and aunt came into the house. My uncle put the basket on the table, lifted the blue cloth, and there were more than a dozen eggs inside. They were not very big, and some of them were still covered with chicken droppings.
