Dragon Raja: Reboot
Chapter 57 Dream
"What do you mean?" Xia Mi poked her head out, asking curiously.
Lu Mingfei's back was desolate, and he looked utterly hopeless. He found two clean newspapers, placed them on the bench, lay down, put on an eye mask, and became indifferent to the world.
Chu Zihang hesitated for a moment, then whispered in Xia Mi's ear, "Junior brother has never been on time when taking the train in his entire life. There are always all sorts of unexpected situations. Have you ever played Monopoly?"
Xia Mi's bangs twitched in mid-air as she said seriously, "Are you trying to say that Senior Brother Lu is a jinx, and we're possessed by him?"
Chu Zihang was stunned. He hadn't expected his junior sister to be able to grasp the key point in an instant.
Xia Mi chuckled, covering her mouth as she laughed, "Actually, I overheard your conversation at the Chicago train station! Have you forgotten that I was hiding on the beam that day?"
Chu Zihang turned his head away expressionlessly.
Having a childhood sweetheart like this, he didn't know if it was a good thing or a bad thing, but he did find that he was becoming more and more helpless with her.
"Senior brother, are you hungry? Would you like some snacks to tide you over?"
Xia Mi rummaged through her backpack and handed the bag directly to Chu Zihang.
Chu Zihang looked down and saw that his junior sister's bag was full of snacks. Sure enough, she wasn't on a mission, but out for a spring outing.
"Yes, I want to eat." A weak voice came from behind. "Please, junior sister, bring it to me."
"You can be lazy as you please!" Xia Mi turned around and glared at the guy who was already lying down. "Didn't you take a bunch of snacks earlier?"
"I'm done eating! Everyone said they just wanted to have a little something to tide them over, but that's hardly anything!" Lu Mingfei lamented. "My junior sister is biased; she gave it to my senior brother but not me!"
Xia Mi's cheeks flushed slightly as she playfully tossed her bag onto Lu Mingfei's stomach. "Alright, alright, Young Master Lu, what would you like to eat? This humble servant will bring it to you right away!"
"Do you have potato chips and soda?" Lu Mingfei was still lying flat with his eye mask on, his hands rummaging around in his bag.
Xia Mi snatched the backpack back, rummaged through it, and said, "No soda, but bottled water will do. What flavor of potato chips do you want?"
"tomato."
"No!"
"Why doesn't it taste like tomatoes at all?!" Lu Mingfei questioned.
"Because I don't like it!" Xia Mi said matter-of-factly.
"Is it like Italian stew?"
"Here, Mr. Lu, please enjoy your meal!"
"Yes, Miko, you may leave."
Mr. Lu waved his hand lazily, tore open the packaging, and threw it directly into his mouth, crunch crunch.
Chu Zihang stood beside the suitcase, his smile fleeting. His junior brother and sister really were quite similar in some ways.
As night fell completely, the staff at the train station changed shifts.
Chu Zihang stood at the entrance of the train station and looked out. The night was desolate, and the streetlights on the empty road were either off or on. The undulating mountains in the distance looked like sleeping giants in the darkness. Only this station entrance was still lit, like the last night watchman. The two guards at the entrance also looked drowsy.
He observed for a while, then turned around and went back to the waiting room to sit down.
My junior brother was lying to my left, fast asleep with an eye mask on. I wondered how he managed to sleep on the plane all afternoon and still be so soundly asleep.
Xia Mi lay to his right, facing the back of the chair, her body slightly curled up, only revealing the back of her head to him.
Chu Zihang sat between the two, staring blankly at the mirror embedded in the wall in front of him.
Since two of the three people slept together, someone had to be on night watch. Chu Zihang, who was used to acting alone, naturally took on the role of night watchman.
Besides, those two guys didn't give him any choice at all...
The waiting room was silent except for the ticking of the clock on the wall.
Chu Zihang suddenly opened his eyes and looked around warily.
When did I... fall asleep?!
He cautiously scanned his surroundings and discovered that the lights in the waiting room had been turned off at some point, with the only source of light being the moonlight streaming in through the skylight overhead.
The ticket window was deserted, and the two guards at the entrance were nowhere to be found. It seemed that all the staff on duty tonight had skipped work.
The entire waiting hall was bathed in the cool, clear moonlight, and the shadows cast by the skylight windowpanes stretched long and slanted across the backs of the benches.
It was late July or early August, still within the summer season. After getting off the plane, Chu Zihang checked the local weather forecast. The temperature tonight was between 20°C and 25°C, so even wearing short sleeves, he shouldn't feel cold.
But at this moment, Chu Zihang felt a bone-chilling cold!
The air became thick and humid, with a dense fog floating above the roof of the waiting platform.
The fog was getting thicker and thicker, as if it were seeping in from outside the waiting platform, and the water vapor was spreading throughout the waiting hall, showing signs of intensifying.
At this time, the water vapor concentration was astonishingly high, and everything you could touch was covered with a film of water.
Chu Zihang immediately wanted to wake up his two junior brothers, but when he reached out to shake them awake, he grabbed nothing!
His expression changed, and he looked down sharply, only to find that Lu Mingfei and Xia Mi had disappeared without a trace, just like the staff on duty at the train station!
Chu Zihang quickly stood up, grabbed his tennis bag, unzipped it, gripped the hilt of his knife, and drew it from its sheath.
A bluish-gray light splashed out, and a chilling aura traveled up his wrist. Chu Zihang gripped Murasame again!
Wisps of steam spread down the floor and rose up his ankles.
Chu Zihang rubbed his fingers together; his fingertips were exceptionally damp. The moisture in the air was so thick it was saturated, and the ground was extremely slippery.
This sudden change made him feel as if he had returned to the Runde Building just over ten days ago!
The familiar scent rushed towards me once more—a cold, unique, stormy scent…
That elevated road shrouded in torrential rain!
Chu Zihang suddenly clutched his head in pain, a sharp pain emanating from the depths of his brain, and countless sharp, bluish-purple lines twisting in his mind, like hieroglyphs on an ancient stone tablet!
Memories deeply rooted in the bloodline flashed before my eyes, like the deepest nightmare—a young man with a golden pupil split in his forehead lay on a black stone throne, a longsword of white bone piercing his chest; a girl rolled on a stone altar, letting out painful screams, like the prelude to childbirth; a woman bound to a bronze pillar slowly opened her eyes, her white hair flying wildly, bloody tears streaming from her eyes; finally, black wings tore through the sky…
He had seen these flickering images on the elevated road six years ago!
This is spiritual vision!
Why am I experiencing clairvoyance at this moment?
Chu Zihang suddenly looked up, staring in horror at the mirror embedded in the wall!
The mirror was originally only one meter high and half a meter wide, but now it seems to connect the two worlds, reaching to the heavens and the earth!
The world in the mirror surged with thunder and golden flames, and an ancient god riding an eight-legged steed stood in the wind and rain, coldly watching him.
The reflection in the mirror wasn't of the waiting room, but of a highway in the wind and rain!
Odin!
He came once again riding an eight-legged steed, holding Gungnir in his hand!
No...impossible...impossible!
My junior brother clearly killed him that night!
How could He still be alive?!
A swarm of dark figures appeared beside Odin, their countless golden pupils burning like torches. They stared coldly at Chu Zihang outside the mirror, like a group of death gods watching the dying, waiting to harvest fresh souls.
The shadowy figures were whispering amongst themselves in the most ancient language, a language that sounded like both chanting and weeping, seemingly both far away and yet so close at hand.
That is……
A pig squealing?!
Chu Zihang opened his eyes in astonishment, waking up from a nightmare.
He was breathing heavily, gasping for fresh air as if he were suffocating. The ticking of the clock filled his ears, and further away, he could hear the two women at the ticket booth whispering about their children's performance at school. From the direction of the entrance, the doorman kept yawning...
The world returned to normal in an instant, and the warmth of everyday life returned to him.
Chu Zihang stared blankly down at himself.
He remained seated, the tennis bag containing Murasame lying quietly at his feet, its zipper still closed.
He looked up again, and the mirror embedded in the wall reflected his pale face.
Suddenly, a long, pig-like squeal rang out again. Chu Zihang looked to his left and finally found the source of the sound.
The junior brother hummed in his sleep, turned over, and licked his lips.
Chu Zihang smiled bitterly, leaned back weakly in his chair, and looked at his junior brother's sweet sleeping face, speechless.
The temperature returned to normal, and the air was warm enough that he wouldn't feel cold even wearing short sleeves, but his arms were covered in goosebumps.
Is this really... a dream?
