Dragon Raja: Reboot

Chapter 52 Attila the Hun

"Senior brother! Look at me!" Xia Mi suddenly said, a long, soft strand of hair swaying in the air in front of her forehead.

"Holy crap! Junior sister, this... this is an ahoge? Your ahoge is your true form! It's such a waste that you don't cosplay Saber!" Lu Mingfei was dumbfounded.

Xia Mi put her hands on her hips and said proudly, "That's right! That's what I thought too! It's a pity our high school anime club only cosplayed Haruhi Suzumiya, they didn't give me a chance!"

Lu Mingfei comforted her, "It's okay, there will be opportunities in the future. Kassel also has an anime club. Last semester, they even perfectly cosplayed Misaka Mikoto, and even simulated the Railgun."

"They've even simulated an electromagnetic cannon? Is it some kind of lightning-based incantation?" Xia Mi's eyes sparkled.

"It seems to be a special item from the Equipment Department." Lu Mingfei scooped up a mouthful of mashed potatoes. "Junior sister, stop beating around the bush and get back to the main point."

"The Equipment Department? I've heard they're very unreliable!" Xia Mi shrank her neck. "You should know about the legend of King Arthur, right? There's not much to say about it. It's basically about King Arthur and his knights unifying Great Britain, and then causing internal strife in the royal court due to his search for the Holy Grail, as well as the emotional infidelity of his knights and queen. In the end, he perished with his illegitimate son."

"That sounds really melodramatic," Lu Mingfei remarked.

"Reality is even more dramatic than fiction," Xia Mi stuck out her tongue. "But just take it as a story. There are many versions of the Arthurian legend, and too many elements have been added by later generations to conform to political power, history, or personal preferences. That's why it's said to be a product of multicultural fusion!"

"Junior sister, have you taken either 'The Secret History of Dragons' or 'An Introduction to Dragon Family Genealogy'?"

"This is a required course for my freshman year, and I haven't started school yet! But I had some exposure to it during my preparatory course."

"That's settled then." Lu Mingfei snapped his fingers and smiled. "So, Junior Sister, do you know Attila the Hun?"

The atmosphere suddenly became stagnant.

The restaurant was empty except for the two of them.

They sat at the end of the long table, with a magnificent ceiling painting above them.

The painting depicts Ragnarok.

Nidhogg, the black dragon of the end times, rose from the roots of the World Tree, its wings adorned with the skulls of the dead. As the sun was about to sink below the horizon, Odin, the king of the gods, rode in on his eight-legged steed and hurled his spear of victory at the black dragon.

"He was called the Scourge of God, who shamed the Romans and terrified the Germans, and established the greatest Hunnic Empire in history."

Xia Mi spoke softly, her tone as calm as still water, without the slightest fluctuation, but deep in her eyes, like fallen leaves rippling on a lake.

She was far from as calm as she appeared.

Lu Mingfei scratched his head and said, "Actually, I got a D for this last subject. I failed it last semester. Luckily, the principal recently signed an exemption certificate for me. Otherwise, you wouldn't see me here now. I should be studying all night in the library."

Xia Mi sighed, "Senior brother, are you really an S-rank?"

"Hahaha!" Lu Mingfei chuckled and asked, "What I want to ask is, were King Arthur and Attila the Hunnic King contemporaries?"

"Oh, is that all you wanted to ask?" Xia Mi tilted her head, a strand of her forehead twitching. "Attila the Hun died in 453 AD. As for King Arthur, there are rumors that he died in the 5th century AD, but he is more like a mythical figure, and it is impossible to specifically prove which era's monarch his prototype was."

Lu Mingfei suddenly realized.

"So, junior sister, do you think King Arthur really existed in history?"

"I don't know, but I feel like it probably is?"

"Junior sister, you should know that Attila the Hun was actually the king of the earth and mountains, right?"

"I know, it's mentioned in the book 'The Secret History of the Dragon Clan,' I read it during the summer vacation." Xia Mi wrinkled her nose, her smile as bright as a flower.

Lu Mingfei asked seriously, "Then do you think it's possible that King Arthur was also a dragon?"

Xia Mi was stunned.

She hadn't expected that this guy would go through all that trouble just to ask her this question.

What does it matter to you whether King Arthur was a dragon or not? Even if he was a dragon, he's been dead for thousands of years!

Are you planning to dig up the grave of a legendary figure?

"Why are you asking this, senior brother?" Xia Mi couldn't help but ask.

"Writing a paper! Next semester is Professor Schneider's Dragon Genealogy!" Lu Mingfei shrugged. "Professor Schneider is Senior Brother Chu's teacher, one of the strictest professors in the whole school. I don't want to fail under him."

Xia Mi asked suspiciously, "Senior brother, are you really that studious? You've already started preparing your final paper before the semester even started?"

"I've turned over a new leaf!" Lu Mingfei declared emphatically. "This time, I absolutely refuse to fail!"

Xia Mi was silent for a while, then shook her head and said softly, "I really can't see through you at all, Senior Brother Lu."

A large hand slowly landed on the girl's head, pressing down a restless lock of hair on her forehead.

Xia Mi looked up blankly and saw Lu Mingfei stand up and put his hand on her head, his smile bright and gentle, like the sun under the night sky.

"Then stay behind me more often. If you stay there long enough, you'll probably be able to see through me."

Xia Mi stared intently into Lu Mingfei's eyes.

The latter did not back down, and his smile remained unchanged.

The eye contact was fleeting, and the two tacitly returned to the battlefield, devouring the food on the table.

"Senior brother, what is your Word of Power?" the junior sister asked, looking like a curious child.

"Word magic? I don't have that stuff." Senior brother shrugged.

"No way, you're the only S-rank student in the school!" the junior student questioned.

"So what if you're S-rank? Not having any Word Power isn't shameful! Junior Sister, your Word Power isn't the Eye of the Wind King, is it?"

"How did you know?!"

"Ahem... Actually, although I don't possess the power of words, I do wield an unparalleled divine skill called 'Calculating Heaven, Earth, and Love.' Junior sister, would you like me to calculate your love life for you?"

"Hehe, Senior Brother, you're not going to tell me that my true love is just around the corner, are you?"

"No, no! It's not right in front of you... it's right at the door."

Xia Mi paused, put down her fork, and turned around to see a man in simple jeans and a T-shirt, with no expression on his face, slowly walk in.

"Ahem! I'll head out first, giving you plenty of space. By the way, see you at the airport in a few days."

Lu Mingfei lowered his voice, left behind a final, ambiguous remark, and then turned and slipped away with his plate.

He waved goodbye to his senior brother. Chu Zihang wanted to call him back and discuss the mission in England in a few days, but just like that rainy night six years ago, this guy ran away incredibly fast and disappeared in a flash.

Chu Zihang was somewhat bewildered.

Why did my junior brother run away as soon as he saw me?

He could only walk up to Xia Mi and ask what had just happened.

Xia Mi gazed in the direction where Lu Mingfei had disappeared and murmured, "Senior Brother Lu is truly unpredictable."

Chu Zihang thought for a moment and decided to say something good about his junior brother, "Junior Brother Lu is a very good person."
