Dragon Raja: Reboot

Chapter 30 Home Tutor

With a "click" as the door lock snapped shut, everything returned to normal.

Lu Mingfei looked back.

It was the same hotel room, the same warm morning light filtering through the white gauze curtains, but some details were different. There was an indentation next to Lu Mingfei where Chu Zihang had lain, and the blankets on Xia Mi's bed were messy and hadn't been folded at all.

Tsk, that's more like it, that's the junior sister he knows.

Orange peels were scattered on the table, and Xia Mi's white cotton pajamas were draped over the back of the chair, with a yellow shorthand sticker stuck to them.

"Brother Mingfei, we have to go out first. I ordered you a Chinese breakfast: fried dough sticks and tofu pudding."

The signature at the end was a cat's head; Xia Mi's signature was actually a cat's head.

It was just a subtle change; that feeling of being adrift in the clouds, of being unfamiliar with the world, disappeared.

The food cart was still there, and there was still some unfinished tofu pudding in the bowl. It was delicate and white, sprinkled with fragrant spicy oil, finely shredded pickled vegetables, shrimp, sesame seeds, and balsamic vinegar.

A pale yellow envelope was placed on the dining cart, with "Ricardo M.lu" written on it in beautiful cursive script.

Dear Ricardo:

This is a mission email. Please come downstairs immediately after receiving this email. There will be a black Maserati waiting for you at the hotel entrance. It has Illinois license plates, license plate number 'CAS001'. The person in the car will tell you the mission details.

The letter was printed on Hyast Hotel stationery, with a purple World Tree emblem at the end that glowed like scales when viewed from the side.

This anti-counterfeiting badge is for Kassel students only. The last time Lu Mingfei saw it... was in his previous life.

"Next... it's time for Lu Tuhao to come online," Lu Mingfei muttered.

He suddenly remembered that he had forgotten to discuss the price with Lu Mingze.

In the last life, it cost 100 million US dollars. How about doubling it a little in this life?

No... Professor Manstein would devour him alive.

It seems necessary to consult their most steadfast and flamboyant comrade-in-arms—the principal of Angers.

As Lu Mingfei walked out of the hotel, he saw the black Maserati parked on the side of the road.

The long, slender canopy has a sharp, curved shape, like a shark leaping out of the water, while the privacy glass blocks the view inside.

Upon seeing this cool toy, Lu Mingfei couldn't help but think of the dented Bugatti his boss had lost to him.

Upon seeing him arrive, the car door automatically opened, and Lu Mingfei smoothly got in, raising his hand to greet the flamboyant older man sitting inside.

"Principal, I've missed you so much! Come here for a hug!"

The older man, who was about to raise his glass in greeting, was a little stunned, seemingly not expecting the young man to be so enthusiastic. He could only raise his glass and hug Lu Mingfei tightly.

"I miss you too, my S-class. How was your summer vacation?"

"Don't even mention it, I was dragged back by the school just a few days later." Lu Mingfei covered his face and sighed.

Angers helplessly spread his hands and said, "I didn't expect you to fail two courses in one semester, but it's okay. If you do well on the next task, I can use the principal's special power to give you extra points."

Another warm hug.

"Principal, that's exactly what I've been waiting to hear!" the young man said enthusiastically, his eyes flashing with a murderous glint. "As long as you don't have to retake the exam, you can leave the rest of the tasks to me!"

Angers put down his glass and laughed, "Very good, I like the look in your eyes right now!"

He handed me a beautifully printed document.

"Sotheby's, one of the world's finest auction houses, is a major hub for the circulation of art." Angers waved his cigar. "This is a Sotheby's 'selected auction,' which refers to an auction of items that are legally restricted to a certain scope of circulation, and therefore only invites people of specific status."

"At targeted auctions, we often find some obscure but interesting items. For example, we once bought a brass blowtorch of unknown age for less than $40. Do you know what that is?" The principal gestured with his hands. "It's an alcohol blowtorch used by chemists in the last century."

"I've seen it; it looks like a small flamethrower."

“That’s right. Think about it then,” Angers gestured in the air, as if grabbing the base of an alcohol torch and pointing the brass nozzle at Lu Mingfei, “what if we used the torch horizontally…”

"flamethrower?"

"Yes! That's not an alcohol torch at all, but a weapon, the work of 19th-century alchemists. They usually call these things 'dragon's breath,' and the fuel is not alcohol, but refined mercury-containing nitroglycerin. It can spew out a cone of flame up to 20 meters long, with an explosive effect, while releasing a huge amount of mercury vapor. It is a powerful weapon against dragons."

"That's so cool!"

"That's really cool. We often find interesting things at this auction, and this time is no exception. There's something we'd like to bid on with your help." Angers took a deep drag on his cigar.

"Principal, you've chosen the right person. I'm very good at this!" Lu Mingfei patted his chest confidently.

"Oh? Really?" Angers was taken aback. "I didn't know that. I originally wanted to give you more opportunities to learn, after all, you are our only S-rank, and my time is running out."

"Time is running out?" Lu Mingfei once again sensed a sense of desolation in the old man's voice.

"At my age, how much longer do you think I have to live?" Angers shrugged. "I was one of the earliest members of the Lionheart Society."

Lu Mingfei said seriously, "Principal, I think you can live for another twenty years!"

Angers laughed heartily, "Alright, then I'll take your good wishes. If I live another twenty years, maybe I can even be your son's tutor!"

"Reborn? That's so cool!" Lu Mingfei exclaimed, giving a thumbs-up. "It's a deal!"

He looked left and right, and realized that this was none other than an elderly version of Reborn!

A black bespoke suit, gleaming Italian leather shoes, hair so oiled it could be used as a mirror, and a vibrant red rose on his chest—he was dashing and handsome.

The car stereo was playing a grand aria, and instead of a Coke, there was an ice wine in the slot. The sunroof was open, and wisps of cigar smoke rose into the air.

The old man shrugged, flicked his cigarette butt out of the sunroof with a flourish, gripped the steering wheel with one hand, and slammed the accelerator to the floor.

Amidst the roar of the car engine, he raised his glass and laughed heartily:

"Reborn isn't as handsome as me!"

The shark-like car sped off dangerously, ignoring the changing traffic lights, and cut straight into the traffic. Several cars behind it were forced to brake suddenly, blocking the intersection haphazardly.

As the "push-back feeling" highly praised by countless car enthusiasts came over him, the old man still nonchalantly downed the glass of ice wine in one gulp and continued to accelerate.

Lu Mingfei gripped the handrail with one hand, thinking to himself that this old guy still drives so... wildly!

As expected of the owner of Time Zero!

Reborn is nowhere near as handsome as you. His life's achievements were nothing more than being the world's number one assassin and training the world's number one mob boss, but you want to drag the entire dragon race down with you!

Lu Mingfei closed his eyes, feeling the wind blowing against his face from outside the car window.

Until the final boss is defeated, the principal will be his strongest ally.
