Despite sleeping for so long in the energy capsule, Wen Shumu still felt drowsy after arriving home. Once the anesthesia wore off, he occasionally felt a stinging sensation on the scars.

After a quick meal, Ling Suyu was called away for a video conference, while Wen Shumu simply went to bed early.

As the moon gradually disappeared behind the clouds, shedding the soft veil of moonlight, the night seemed to grow much darker.

Ling Suyu ended the call, his face showing signs of fatigue.

He read a few more reports, and after leaving the study, he took a shower in another room before returning to the bedroom, so as not to disturb Wen Shumu.

Without any prior arrangement, Wen Shumu had already moved into the bedroom that originally belonged to Ling Suyu.

Allison's earlier prediction did come true in part, except that the room he didn't need wasn't the marshal's bedroom as he had guessed, but rather the lady's.

Ling Suyu opened and closed the door very carefully, trying not to make a sound.

A small lamp, left on specifically for Ling Suyu, was lit by the bedside.

Ling Suyu's lips curved slightly, and his fatigue seemed to vanish at that moment.

He lay down on the bed, turned around and reached out, about to pull Wen Shumu into his arms as usual, but stopped when he looked at the person beside him.

Omega's eyes were closed, his brow furrowed, and a light sheen of sweat appeared on his forehead.

Ling Suyu's expression immediately tensed up, and he reached out to touch Wen Shumu's forehead, feeling its icy coldness.

No fever.

"Brother... Brother!" Wen Shumu suddenly spoke, but his eyes were still closed, clearly not yet awake from his dream.

Ling Suyu understood that he must have had a nightmare. He moved his hand down and pulled Wen Shumu into his arms, patting his back and gently coaxing him, "I'm here, Xiaomu, don't be afraid."

Wen Shumu whimpered twice, her eyelids trembling. Perhaps she heard his response, her breathing became disordered, and she anxiously tried to wake up.

A pang of heartache rose in Ling Suyu's eyes, and she called out to him a little louder.

Wen Shumu suddenly opened his eyes, his expression filled with panic, his chest heaving rapidly.

His listless gaze gradually focused, and the moment he saw Alpha, his eyes filled with tears.

"Did you have a nightmare?" Ling Suyu kissed the forehead of the person in his arms and asked in a low voice.

Wen Shumu was clearly still not recovered, and nodded with disordered breathing.

He dared not recall anything that had happened in his dream.

In his mind, the fantastic and magnificent universe suddenly turned into a hellish existence.

Severed limbs and fragments of warships and mechs were scattered everywhere.

Those black fragments contained a distinctly different deep blue.

He had encountered that deep blue color several times on Narentis, and he even used it to paint the models he made by hand.

A deep blue color unique to the cracked ice.

A painful glint appeared in Wen Shumu's eyes. Trembling, he raised his hand to wrap around Ling Suyu's waist, feeling the warmth and faint fragrance of the person before him.

He unconsciously used some force, holding her tightly.

This is currently the only way for him to get close to Ling Suyu.

What should I do... how can I keep the person in front of me?

Ling Suyu didn't say anything more, but simply tightened her arms and hugged him back.

Wen Shumu's voice was a little hoarse as he suddenly said, "The temporary marker has been gone for several days now."

Ling Suyu lowered her long eyelashes slightly and hummed in agreement.

Wen Shumu said in a trembling voice, "Why didn't you mark me permanently back then? I don't want this kind of temporary mark that can disappear at any time."

His fever period has passed, and it is now impossible to establish a lifelong marker; we can only wait for the next fever period.

Ling Suyu's face immediately lost its color, and his blue eyes became dull and lifeless, like sapphires covered in dust.

Uncharacteristically, he didn't give a direct answer, but instead whispered, "I'm sorry, please wait a little longer, please wait for me... okay?"

Wen Shumu stared at him for a long time with red eyes, and the tears she had been holding back finally slid down and dripped onto Ling Suyu's arm, which he was resting on.

In a very short time, many negative thoughts that he would never normally have flashed through his mind, almost suffocating him.

He could certainly sense Ling Suyu's affection, but he also worried that Ling Suyu's feelings for him were more out of pity? Was he only with him because he couldn't bear to see him sad?

More and more tears rolled down silently, blurring into small dots on Alpha's sleeve.

These dark thoughts buried deep in his heart kept resurfacing because of a terrifying dream, making Wen Shumu unable to find peace.

But it was easily shattered by a single sentence.

"Xiao Mu, I like you."

Ling Suyu's voice rang out again, filled with unwavering determination.

Wen Shumu's mind suddenly went blank.

He even wondered if he was hallucinating.

He opened his slightly swollen eyes as if they were a lifeline, and met Ling Suyu's gaze.

Those blue eyes seemed to see through all his thoughts as they repeated, "I like you."

Ling Suyu lowered his head, mimicking Wen Shumu's previous actions, gently rubbing the tip of his nose, and then kissing away the tears still clinging to his face.

The familiar, light, cool fragrance suddenly intensified, but without any aggression, it gently enveloped the Omega.

With such reassurance, Wen Shumu gradually calmed down, and at least stopped crying.

"Do you know what a lifelong mark means?" Ling Suyu stroked his slightly curly brown hair and said softly, "Our souls will be connected forever, and every move we make will affect each other."

Wen Shumu blinked his dry eyes and said, "I couldn't ask for more."

Ling Suyu continued, "In other words, you'll be tied to me for life."

"That's exactly what I want," Wen Shumu said in a muffled voice.

Ling Suyu smiled and pursed his lips slightly: "Even if I'm gone, this mark won't disappear unless you undergo a very painful surgery to remove it, and the success rate is very low."

He used an extremely euphemistic way of putting it, but Wen Shumu's pupils contracted slightly as he stared at him blankly.

They clearly understood what "no longer" meant.

"As long as this mark remains, you will spend your entire life waiting for someone who will never come back..."

Ling Suyu's smile turned bitter, and he didn't continue speaking.

Having been in the Legion for so many years, he has seen many such examples around him.

Everyone says he is invincible, but being in this position, he knows better than anyone what he is facing.

Even if he was 99% certain, he dared not ignore that 1% possibility.

He cannot indulge his desires until the situation is completely peaceful.

In the stillness of the night, the bedroom felt like an isolated island with only two people inside, where only the faint sound of breathing could be heard.

My turbulent emotions suddenly calmed down.

Wen Shumu finally understood why Ling Suyu did not mark him permanently.

He had never considered the impact this mark would have on him before; he just felt that since they were of one mind, this was how it should be. He never expected that Ling Suyu had already considered so much.

Thinking of that nightmare, Wen Shumu's eyes grew even darker.

"Brother, has something happened again? Is it some kind of disturbance? Is it some kind of strange beast?"
