Chapter 46 The Baby Dragon with Developmental Abnormalities
The morning after the baby dragon hatched, Lin Dao noticed something unusual while checking on his Pokémon's condition by the stream as part of his routine.
This dark blue little guy is less than 24 hours old, but it is already noticeably larger than before. The hardness of its shell-like skull is far greater than that of any newborn specimens recorded in the literature.
It was particularly attached to Lin Dao, always wobbling along at his feet, and when Lin Dao occasionally checked Arceus's phone, it would curiously tug at his trouser leg, making soft "hissing" noises.
"What's wrong?" Lin Dao squatted down and gently touched Baby Dragon's forehead with his fingers.
The scan results appear:
Baby Dragon
Rating: 2
Attribute: Dragon
Features: Forced
Moves learned: Tackle, Leer, Dragon Breath, Dragon Claw, Dragon Pulse, Dragon Dance, Outrage
Physical condition: Life energy is unusually active, gene expression is accelerated, and potential is being released (speculated to be related to contact with high-purity dragon-type primordial energy).
Note: The growth rate is expected to be 300%-500% of that of a typical individual. It is necessary to ensure that nutrition supply and basic training are synchronized to avoid overdrawing and wasting potential.
Lin Dao's pupils contracted slightly.
Level 2 is still within a reasonable range, but the skill list is too amazing. Moves such as Dragon Pulse, Dragon Dance, and Outrage, which should only be learned in the later stages of the evolution chain, are already imprinted deep in the genes.
I understand now. As the token of the Three Dragons of the Way, the Gene Wedge, once activated, has an indescribable nourishing effect on Dragon-type Pokémon.
The little guy was influenced by it before he hatched, which is equivalent to receiving high-level "prenatal education" and potential infusion.
"The effect of the gene wedge..." Lin Dao murmured.
"But rapid growth is not necessarily all a good thing."
Lin Dao picked up Baby Dragon, and the little guy snuggled comfortably in his arms.
"Little guy, your carefree childhood days are probably over before they even began."
He led He Zhong, carrying the precious dragon, to find the Salamence patrolling its territory at the edge of the forest.
The crimson dragon saw the child and let out a gentle growl.
Baby Dragon struggled to jump off Lin Dao's arms and stumbled towards its mother, only to be gently caught by the tip of its nose by the Flying Dragon.
There's something I need to know.
Lin Dao informed the Flying Dragon of the results of Arceus's phone scan.
"Your child is growing much faster than normal for some reason."
"This means it will soon be past its infancy, but it also means it needs more nutrition and more solid basic training; otherwise, the power it gains too quickly might backfire and harm it, especially with moves like Dragon Dance..."
As a pseudo-legendary Pokémon, Salamence's expression became noticeably serious when it heard that Bagon knew moves like "Dragon Dance" and "Outrage".
These are techniques that put a tremendous strain on the body.
If a newly hatched dragon is overused, the consequences could be disastrous.
"Roar..." The Flying Dragon looked at Lin Dao, its eyes filled with inquiry.
"This is a rare opportunity, but it also comes with risks. In terms of nutrition, I will coordinate with the research team to quickly formulate the most suitable dragon-specific energy cubes and high-energy recipes for its current stage."
Lin Dao said seriously, "But you also know that I need to be busy in the city, so I suggest that you train it yourself for the next period of time."
"You are its mother, and the one who understands the essence of Dragon-type power best. You are more suitable than any human trainer to guide its basic physical abilities, energy control, and the rhythm of move release."
"I will leave a detailed training plan, including nutrition ratios, rest periods, and phased goals."
The Salamence lowered its massive head, its scarlet eyes gazing tenderly at the baby dragon that was trying to jump onto it, only to fall flat on its backside. Undeterred, the baby dragon hissed as it got back up.
He turned back towards the forest path and let out a low, questioning roar: "Roar~~?" (What about your safety if I leave?)
Lin Dao understood the concern in the voice and felt a warmth in his heart.
"Don't worry, I'm very safe here. First of all, my cooperation with the country is on track, and the authorities will provide the highest level of security within the Chengdu area. Secondly," he patted another Poké Ball at his waist.
"Growlithe is strong enough to handle most threats. And..."
He looked towards the camp in the distance where Pikachu was playing with a zigzagoon.
"Pikachu also needs systematic training. In urban environments, the potential of Electric-type Pokémon is more easily unleashed, as there is a stable power supply for it to learn to control, and there are also more complex environments for it to adapt to."
He paused for a moment, then his tone became serious.
"More importantly, I hope you can help He Zhong, the special agent who has always been by my side, to persuade all the powerful Pokémon groups around Rongcheng that possess considerable intelligence."
"The goal is to initially establish mutual trust and explore the possibility of peaceful coexistence and even limited cooperation."
"Having the de facto 'strongest being' in this region speak on this matter carries far more weight and has a greater effect than having humans do it themselves."
"This will not only resolve potential conflicts, but also clear obstacles and lay the foundation for future 'new cities' and even broader coexistence models."
The Flying Dragon remained silent for a moment, its gaze shifting between Lin Dao, He Zhong, and several uniformed humans recording data outside a research tent not far away.
It recalled the process of its conflict with Lindao and its subsequent alliance, remembered the elves that had been healed, and also sensed the difference between the humans before it and those who had previously poached its eggs.
Finally, it slowly nodded, letting out a low, guttural sound of agreement.
Seeing this, He Zhong suppressed his excitement, stepped forward, and took out a cube that exuded an alluring energy aura from a specially made storage box he carried with him. This was the first-generation "Dragon Energy Cube (Trial Version)" made by the research institute based on the theoretical foundation provided by Lin Dao, combined with existing materials, and after repeated experiments.
"Salamander, this is our token of sincerity, and one of the resources we may provide in future cooperation. Please have a taste."
He Zhong held the energy cube in his palm, his attitude respectful but not humble.
The Salamence sniffed, a hint of satisfaction flashing in its eyes.
It stuck out its tongue, deftly rolled the energy cube into its mouth, savored it, and then let out a pleasant growl. Its gaze towards He Zhong softened considerably, indicating that it had begun to acknowledge this calm and composed human who often followed Lin Dao.
After persuading Bao Feilong, Lin Dao and He Zhong returned to the newly built prefabricated house in the center of the camp, which served as both a communication and conference facility.
Pushing open the door, I found that quite a few people were already seated inside.
Besides the familiar Ye Aiguo, several electronic screens were set up on one side of the room, connecting in real time to several important figures in different locations: Li Qiang from the Ministry of Public Security (with a serious face and sharp eyes), Zhang Jiye, a representative of the military (sitting upright), Zhao Lan, director of the National Pokémon Phenomenon Response Bureau (whose competence could be felt even on the screen), and local government officials such as Mayor Zhou of Rongcheng (whose face showed undisguised expectation).
